So the ****ing Spuds have announced Soldado, surely Bale is on his way out.

Meanwhile some big news for us on the transfer front, shock announcement that...

Sebastian Perez (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebasti%C3%A1n_P%C3%A9rez_Cardona), a largely unknown 20 something from Columbia is trialling with us...

Arsenal Player has both halves full replay to stream at any time, as well as highlights.

I thought Kosc was good and Rosicky was the best on the park for us. Man he is a pleasure to watch.
Part of me would like to see an attacking midfield pairing of Rosicky and Cazorla with someone to mop up the scraps behind them, they're very very tidy players, pretty to watch.

Tommyjet
04-08-2013, 07:01 PM
Yeah gustavo in behind.

Many on arsenal mania forum saying the only 2 worth their paycheck for that match were kos and rosicky.
Would like to see gustavo come into mids and ginter for more cover at the back.

russjaybee
05-08-2013, 10:22 AM
Doubt we would get Gustavo and Ginter, if I had to choose I'd probably take Gustavo, great utility as he can play CB, CM and LB.

By all accounts Sanogo didn't look out of place last night which is good. Couldn't really care less about the score line though it's obviously we need more cover at CB (or RB if Sagna plays CB) with Merte forced to play another game.

PS Drogba's a cheat.

Edit: Also I'm fairly confident new signings will come and soon. All the players seem to believe that people will come in and Wenger hinting in the press about "other" deals that are currently happening fills me with a bit of confidence, though I'll only believe it when I see it.

How did Sagna not die after that landing? And reportedly only out for a week.

Chamberlain out for six months apparently. Vermaelen and Arteta two more months, Monreal another couple of weeks, Ramsey a week...

70m splurged on Suarez then as a token transfer, ends up playing leftback.

Latest talk is

- Cabaye 10mil (rejected by pardew)
- Michu + Williams 35mil (not sure if this is just rumour)

Newcastle will want some ridic price for Cabaye, prob 25+.

I say we throw 20mil at him (not what he's worth but drastic times etc) and go for Michu + Williams.

We just need players ffs.

What's happened to us though?
I still don't know why we didn't sign Cabaye or Sissoko before Newcastle, we didn't even go for them. Sissoko would have been a great signing. Instead we're buying them at the wrong time and paying twice what we would have previously?

Shit why don't we go in for Ba, surely we could get him on the pretty cheap? Decent player to have off the bench. Yes I wish we were going for world class players etc but shit it's getting desperate around here.

Surely we've got enough enough cash and room in the wages to actually have depth, as in get someone in world class as well as giroud as well as another striker like Ba?

What do you mean what has happened to the club? They've finished 4th or higher every single year since 1997 (what isthat, 16years? What have Sp*rs done in the last 16 years that arse haven't?). Without any instant influx of russian or shiek petrol-dollars coming in.

As i mentioned, we are a sub group of the group displayed in the link, and we are raising awareness of the supporters group we have developed throughout Australia.
We have over 1500 members across Australia and have had a successful promotion in Sydney, Brisbane (also Qld), and Melbourne! Therefore i was asked by founders of Arsenal Australia to gather Arsenal Fans around Newcastle and Hunter Regions.
I was wondering using your page, would you ask your Likers, if there are any Arsenal Fans who want to be a part of the Arsenal Community!

AN ARSENAL fan has been left homeless after he bet his house on Arsenal beating Manchester United and lost.

The Observer reports that Henry Dhabasani, from Iganga, Uganda, made the bet against Rashid Yiga, confident that Arsenal would defeat the English Premier League champions.

Dhabasani put up his two-bedroom home, while Mr Yiga wagered his new Toyota Premio and his wife.

The pair put their bet in writing and it was witnessed by local leaders.

Dhabasani, already married to three women with who he has five children, fainted at the end of the match as Manchester United won 1-0.

The day after the game Manchester United fans stormed the home and threw out Dhabasani and his family.

Do we get him goo for berbatov at 2mil?

Last transfer window vela said he doesn't ever want to play for arsenal again, said he's happy in la liga, seems a pea heart if u ask me. Not sure on berbatov, bit lazy but is very intelligent. Does he have the legs?

Would need berbatov for the extra depth during fa cup rounds and in between champions league games. 2mill is a bargain for such a smart player. We are that short of depth we had to play theo upfront now with him gone I would love to see the cheque book out for another top class attacker, given this is our best chance to win the comp , diego costa would be ideal and his buy out is 30 mill which isnt to bad considering what falcoa went for and costas has a better scoring record

If you think we can get Costa from Atleti you're dreaming imo, or if you even think he'd leave...

He's on fire in a team on top of La Liga in Madrid, why would he leave?

Would take burba, smart player would work well in a smart team.

Berba would be great. Short term fix, yes, but a class act that would be fantastic in the side - particularly when supported by the midfield.

Best other shouts I've heard would be a loan for Morata, or Aboubakar from Lorient (dat Arsene French connection).

Remy would be my personal long-term preference if QPR don't demand 15-20mil.

Mandzukic would be great in the summer also.

Before Arsene signed Ozil I'd say none of these options will ever happen, but nowadays I don't know what/how to think with Arsene & transfers.

russjaybee

Lots of talk re Draxler, not exactly what we need but would definitely take him.
Been on fire this season.

With the group of players we have it's more likely that quality smart players are actually only going to be better when they come to us as well, so much quality and creativity around them.

Man I cannot get over how good Rosicky is these days, such a shame he pretty much missed 2 seasons. He's got so much class. Creative, technically excellent but also works bloody hard for the team. Overall looks like a top bloke.

I'm really impressed with this squad and the togetherness in it at the moment, it's really nice to see. The shots of Per carrying theo around and his message after Theo got injured saying he'll be his BFG etc. It seems genuine too. You can see the passion in the games.

Quite a few key players in the squad have been with the club for a long time too, theo, rosicky, rambo, wilshere etc. All these players have gone through tribulations as well and I'm sure it's made them stronger for it and made them connect with the club more.

You have to hand it to Arsene, keeping so much faith and trust with his players, rambo and rosicky particularly with the injuries etc.

Makes me remember why I love this club :)

Yer, that's a tricky one huh.
Still to be 100% told it actually exists, other than a 'handshake' deal with Rogers that he'll be playing Champions League football next year. Liverpools decent season so far has complicated matters. If they were rubbish then yeah he'd be gone this January. This is why I think a lot more than a fair price needs to be offered to have any chance of getting him. The kicker is that he can play Champions League this season isn't it? Therefore even more valuable of an asset.
Liverpool need to gamble that they'll make top 4 this year or risk losing him for less this summer (especially if his form drops off).
Either way for a buy of £15m to sell him for near £100m would be some good business for the Scousers.

First goal was quality.

All you have to do is look at the celebrations by the players when we score, they want it this year. If we have the depth to back it up is another thing, there is no doubting the commitment by the players to the team though.

Yes. Liverpool missed 2 golden chances inside 5min then generally dominated after about half hour. Arse played more like the away team. Sanogo looks promising - very strong and gets in good positions. Skills very rusty.

Thought Ozil was poor again, as was Arteta. The defensive setup was far better this week with the two plodders not exposed as much.

Arse can consider themselves very lucky to win that game. Wasteful finishing and a corrupt official got u the win.

Liverpool are out of the FA Cup because 'weak' Webb refused to award clear penalty
By GRAHAM POLL

PUBLISHED: 22:37 GMT, 16 February 2014 | UPDATED: 22:37 GMT, 16 February 2014

Liverpool were denied a clear penalty and likely equaliser when referee Howard Webb refused them their second penalty in a pulsating Cup tie.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain clattered through Luis Suarez, with Webb perfectly placed to see the offence. Suarez’s theatrical ‘dive’ will not have helped nor did the fact that Webb had already awarded Liverpool a penalty.

Those who have not been in such a pressure-cooker situation would not understand that, but I do.

Webb, of course, with his experience and pedigree, should do better and be above such weakness — Liverpool are now out of the FA Cup because he wasn’t.

Soz for carjacking the fiesta but this is where the discussion was

Rofl at sensationalist headlines.

Liverpool are out of the cup because they didn't take their chances, they have no one to blame but themselves and should not be distracted by reffing decisions (which go against teams every week, it's part and parcel of the game).

Yes he may have gotten it wrong, no they weren't guaranteed to equalise or even win the game from that point.

This is all coming from Graham "triple threat" Poll.

Oh to be an Arsenal fan. I swear the Jets + Arsenal combo is going to be the death of me.

We looked great in that first 30 mins imo, team was hungry and looked confident.

How's Sanogo, first start and real football against Liverpool in the FA Cup helping us knock them out, then starts against arguably the best team in the world at the moment, amazing.
All things considered he has looked really good in my opinion. Doesn't look in awe at all, puts himself about and has some real quality touches.
Hopefully when he gains fitness he's a bit more mobile and a bit less rusty in and around the box, overall good signs though IMO.

Gibbs going off was a massive loss as well, Nacho was ok but just didn't have the same drive and focus that Gibbs had when he was on. He was hacking away at players and pumped.

Ooooh Ozil. He needs a rest, leave him out of a few games and play Santi at CAM imo.
He's burnt out, trying too hard and then doesn't have the mental strength to fight through his poor form at the moment.
I feel there's too much pressure on him to perform, just leave him out of the side for a couple of games, we can't afford to have him on at the moment.

Wouldn't mind seeing us with Poldi out left and AOC out right, Sanogo / Giroud / Bendtner up front with Santi in behind.

Thought Jack and Flamini were great today, worked bloody hard. Jack was looking particularly good when we still had 11 on the park.

Kosc was absolutely immense, as was per and Sagna.
Fabianski did bloody well when he came on too, Szcz to miss the away leg yeah? Better fire up Lukasz!

I agree with sanogo looked really good for the 1st half hour but unfortuantly when the red came he was a passenger with zero service, I really liked what I saw he was pretty quick just takes awhile to get moving.

Ozil Is really starting to worry I find myself starting to question his mental strength and I agree he needs a break from the pressure, when szcz was sent I would of rather santi stay on as he is more mobile and can bring neally as much going forward I thought he was looking really good before being replaced.

Really pissed of with kosc with the 2nd goal went charging forward for a free kick and we got caught on the counter with flamini (after playing 60 min in a 2 man midfield) trying to defend mueller should have had the common sence to just sit back and accept the 1 nil loss, that really pissed me of.

Chasing goals next game playing arteta and wishere is a must.If Giroud iisnt right the podolski must lead the line. Hard but not impossible , we did win 2.0 there last year

Agree re mental strength, he doesn't seem to be the type of player that can knuckle down when the going gets tough and get on with, Rambo style.
He's a luxury and right now I think there's too much pressure for him to perform.

The best thing for him imo is to take him out of the side and prove to ourselves and him that we can be successful without him.

That way he can be brought back in to the team without having to think that he must make things happen, he can be more relaxed and that's when we'll see him shine.

Arsenal have won 64% of their games this season. So going off those stats, they're arguably going to win 6 of their last 10 games.

That means Sp*rs have to win 8 of their last 10 to avoid St Totteringham's Day. When their win rate so far has been 57%.

Geezus **** we better win this thing, not likely to get a better chance for a while.

Reports Ozil out for 3 weeks...

Held Munich to 1-1 not bad when you look at the score lines in previous 3 games for them...

Big difference is say there bench compared to ours. Even our starting 11... As much as boom boom giroud plays with a lot of heart the problem is we need a striker of quality that can not only score from people setting them up to also creating chances themselves. Then we would be even more competitive...

Gallant effort...

Yes I do. It's how fans of a certain team which will remain nameless react to perceived bias against them or that the league is being somehow dodgy which is kinda ironic considering this clubs very own history.

I don't fully understand this title race tbh.

I can't look past Man Citeh personally, but I'm not fully understanding the Liverpool/Arsenal race and how everyone views it. They're both on equal points, equal games played. But if you ask anyone, Liverpool are in the title race whilst Arsenal are in a decent position to finish top four.

Their respective fixtures are fairly similar. They both play Chels, City, Wham, Newcastle & Norwich. Arsenal also play Swansea, Everton, Hull & Wbrom whereas Pool play Cardiff (away), Sunderland, Sp*rs & Palace. But it's worth noting all of Pools "big" games are at home. With Arsenal having 1, and assumingly 2 FA Cup games in there also. But I would say Pool have the harder run home.

TAB has Liverpool at $3.75 to win the title, and Arsenal at $11.

Yes, Arsenal seem to not have squad depth (particularly if Giroud is injured) but they've had the same issues the whole season and have still gotten here. And Jan/Feb are notoriously their bad months, and that is past now. They've got Ramsey coming back in, who (even though he has missed a lot of the season) has a chance of getting in Team of the Season he was so brilliant (and for all those "nope, no way" guys out there - Sturridge has only played 1.5-2 games worth of minutes more than Ramsey so think about that).

I don't know. I personally can't see anyone but Citeh or Chelsea winning it - but I can't understand the Liverpool/Arsenal comparisons and how much it just doesn't make sense to me.

odds are manipulated based on the betting activity for the events. these odds indicate that either big money is going in for liverpool (relative to arsenal) and/or that the TAB consider liverpool to be a more likely winner.

if you read about betting behaviour, especially to live in-play betting, you will see thast many people also over-react to match events. for instance, see the swing in odds in response to a goal scored early or a sending off. the swing in (betting) odds is often over-exaggerated compared to the change in (statistical) odds. human beings are emotional and subjective. the statasticians at the bookies are non-emotional and objective. the disposal of man utd at old trafford is one of those events which will bring about a large shift in betting behaviour.

furthermore, as SB says, consider how liverpool have played against Man utd (and recently, arsenal, everton, spurs, even southampton) and compare that to how arsenal have performed. chalk and cheese atm.

again, consider how liverpool have performed at anfield against big teams, compared to how arsenal have performed against big teams. based on form, i think you'd agree one of the two are more likely to pick up more points against their rivals.

the current betting odds are reflected in the above (and perhaps more i haven't thought of / am unaware of / have neglected)

Last time the teams played Arsenal went through 2-1 winners.

Pool also scraped by Swansea and Fulham and drew with WBA a team in the relegation scrap.
They also drew with Villa and lost to both Chelsea and City.

Yes their current form is way better than Arsenal's but looking back at our fixtures the real stand-out is the loss to Stoke, this was shocking.

Other than that we've only recently dropped points against Pool and Utd.

Our season will be defined by our coming games against City and Chelsea.
