Good crowd at the game. I thought that Maitland dominated the first half but Belswans came back into in during the 2nd half. The Belswans keeper kept you fella's in the tie sancho_theswan. He made some fantastic saves and it could have easily been a dead rubber next week if he wasn't between the posts.

How do we think this weekends games will pan out?
grand finals will be imo
19s Maitland v Thornton
23s Adamstown v Maitland
1st Adamstown v Maitland
Big day at Windy Hill tomorrow.
Pies with the win.
Sancho, what's your thoughts on the game? I thought the lady Swans you bought with you were exceptional, very sexy swans.
Maitland today just proved that 3 poor games cost them the Premiership. Today showed how superior they were to the 3rd placed side even with players out injured. Definitely a season that could have been for the Pies.

Maitland well done all 3 teams in GF and with your 1st grade results a win, loss and draw over promoted Adamstown you must feel gutted not to be playing NBN next year.
A great year and clearly miles ahead of 3rd but it just doesn't seem fair to have this club in new fm.
I'm not a fan of the ground and don't believe other NBN clubs would want to play on windy hill but on the field the players and coaches have been pretty consistent over a long period now.
Just make NBN a 12 team comp!

Well done on a fantastic weekend of semis. As a Belswans supporter I was so pleased to see the lads beat Adamstown over two games. Definately a case of underestimating your opponent, well done the underdogs. Last year they met Lambton and lost 7-0 over 2 legs great effort boys and super support from the sidelines. Good luck next week lets hope The underdog can prevail once again. Well done Maitland on making it in all 3 grades

100% agree, Maitland definetly deserve (and geographically NEED) to be included in the new NBN structure. Whilst their ground/facilities aren't crash hot they could easily be improved with abit of the old $$

OK....Let's start with the "Swanettes". A great innovation I must say, they brought plenty to the table with support and comments. No doubt there would have been many a Magpie "pricking up his plumage" at the sight of these "well groomed" girls, especially when you guys were banging on early in the year about "referee eye candy"... what a load of bollocks.
Now for the game...
Firstly the ref was far more consistent this week. I didn't think the score line reflected the effort and courage the BelSWANS showed on the day. As for "superior" with players out?????? Who... Humble???? Well I would have liked to of seen our team go around with Shane Paul, Nathan Gonclaves and young Tommy Pichalof in the mix, may have been a whole new ball game.
I thought that we gifted the first two goals. Anyhow I don't want to detract from the Maitland performance, quality=goals and that's what they delivered on the day. Best of luck next week (for 1st grade and 19's at least).

Looking forward to a good turnout for the 3 games on Sunday with 3 quality matches on display and what a day for Maitland as a club, this is the type of thing that players, coaches, supporters of football live for. If i were NBN coaches looking to strengthen particularly their 19s/23s for next year id be going along to watch as across all 3 grades there are some quality young guys playing especially for the Maitland teams, and a few from the Thornton 19s i hear and hope to poach the standouts.

So the NewFm comp is not that bad after all.

Bullshit.
Really impressed with the Buds CB with the pony tail, cleaned up a lot of the attempted through and over the top balls from Maitland.
Game could have gone either way.
Great game for the 1700 spectators.
Great Game??? You have to be kidding
The ref was a total peabrain letting the 4-5 quality hacks go in the first 10mins without a booking then the rest of the game wanted to flash the red non stop.
First One to Maitland Bullshit two blokes tripped over one another accidently and no way a red
Second One to Adamstown Fair enough.Keeper came out of the box was late and missed the ball and got the man
Third One to Adamstown does anyone know what for?? Two blokes come together and one stayed down. Linesman said nothing ref said nothing and Maitland said nothing. Ball goes out of play. Ref calls a halt to check on players welfare and the ref consults linesman and all of a sudden it is a red. WTF?? If it is a red card the linesman waves flag straight away for the foul
Fourth one to Adamstown by this stage why the **** not!!!
Neither team deserved to win. Maitland can't beat let alone hammer back a 9 man side for the best part of 60 mins and Adamstown for the first red card. 1-0 Up opponent down to 10 men and they have 4 at the back V 1 the 1 gets away and the keeper comes charging out into no mans land and hacks him down. DUMB ****S
That would have to be one of the worst games of Football i have seen for many a while. Other than the idiot with the whistle making a spectacle of himself both teams were poor. Anyone who wants a 10-12 team NBN League has rocks in their heads.
Winning goal came off about 4 richochets in the 6 yard box with the bloke who scored it having NFI what happened and the ball only trickling over the line cause of the downhill slope from the 6 yard box to goal line.
A fitting goal for such a poor game between 2 sides who neither deserved to win

It was a grand final, these games are always a more physical style rather than great football as it's a win at all cost game. The ref stuffed the game when he sent Fletcher off for what has to be the softest send off in a grand final I've ever seen. Carter should have been sent but the others send off were iffy also. I think Adamstown looked the hungrier for the game from the kick off and deserved the win.
I find it hard to understand how you can have such strong opinions of both clubs from a game like this? The ref spoilt the game as a contest.
Maitland loosing 2 of their best to injury prior to half time also stung them. Broadley looked like he may have broke his leg in the challenge with Carter and Humble blew his knee apart and did his ACL along with a few other things also.

Except Humble was out partying at King Street that night, bustin' a solid move on the dance floor I might add.
How can people be saying that Maitland deserved to win? They played the vast majority of the game with an extra man and not once in that time were they really pushing for the result. Even with 10v9 and the score at 2-1, A-town's back four had all the time in the world to 'do a Newcastle Jets' and knock it sideways and backwards (if the Jets were to ever be leading, that is).

What a pile of rubbish , its amazing what you read on here Ha Ha
The club and all the players love the 23s coach (as they did chappy) from last year at the buds and for your information I got informed he resigned from his post to allow the new senior management to pick their own coaching staff which i would assume was a very difficult decision for him.
Meet Graham Law (23s coach) on many occasions over last few years and the young guy breaths football and anyone that watched his team over last two years or watched his sessions will know he can coach as well.
Have no idea if he has somewhere to go but I would be surprised if he has no offers and as for Chappy not taking him ....??? how can anyone on here confirm that unless you are chappy...?
Back to the buds and I am devastated that the coaching staff from last year are gone ... Puts real pressure on the new guys coming in thats for sure but they both have bags of experience so hopefully it will still be onwards and upwards for the buds
Hopefully Anthony Richards brings a few of the top players across from Maitland as there are a few gems in that team that would compliment the great team we already have

I would be surprised at that as he was asked by the committee to apply for the head coach job and declined the opportunity. He is only a young coach and as much as he was highly respected at the club I would have been amazed if the club had hired him as NBN head coach in the clubs first year back in comp.
The view from within the club though is that he will be a head coach in the near future but not ready for NBN.
I think the club have made a good appointment with Anthony and his experience will be vital next year.
Top four finish for the buds next year :-) ...

If Richo can coax a few of the quality Maitland boys to come with the team could well be a very strong one. Richo's Maitland team played a very different style of football to Chappys Atown this year so its hard to call how the Atown boys that get kept around will handle the new coaching style. Any word on the 22s coach for Atown?

Top four finish for the buds next year :-) ...
good onya wally, talking yourself up fools noone. The players win the comp not the coach. keep walkin

Keep the long balls short you sure do know an awful lot of personal details about his situation...good luck finding a new job
I sure love this forum , earlier on in the season I was chappy , then I was someone else and now I am the 23s coach .
So next year when I am behind the buds I will be Richo no doubt
Keep it coming detective .. It's already well known who I am and not exactly hard to work out and if you were a regular poster you may know rather than someone looking to ruffle a feather or two ... Keep walking

Why would i not talk the buds up this year ? Is winning the comp and grand final not enough for you ?
I would also challenge your statement slightly on the reason that though our boys are outstanding and its the players that done it on the park I have no doubt that without glen chapman the buds might not have finished first hence a great coach can make all the difference .

Has been a long time since Maitland have had a different coach, will be interesting to see what type of effect it has on the club whether it is greatly positive or negative.
Any news on change of coaching staff etc from different clubs?

Yes, Maitland posted same on their Facebook page this morning.
Speaking with Bail's close to season end he was still sure this season gone would be his last at Toronto but ave not heard of his replacement nor if Valentine's will be subject to change.
West Wallsend & Thornton definitely remain unchanged as I believe Belswans, Singleton and Cessnock are also but could be wrong as aren't close to anyone at either.
Lower grades really not sure of at most clubs
Steve Thomson is taking over at Cessnock.

Singo must be really desperate-maybe he is taking players with him but I find it hard to believe that he will finish the season up there

The claim is the Hunter Expressway will make Westy to Singleton around 45 mins so not beyond possibilities he could draw players but I'd hate to the throwing that mileage on my car twice/three times a week if I was from the Newcastle/Lake Mac suburbs.
For the top two divisions then this off season must be the largest game of musical chairs for 1st grade coaches in decades.

It's on the northern websit,! and nowhere does it say promotion and relegation is off. All it says is that all the teams from both comps Baring thornton and singo have got 3 year licences. Promotion and relegation will continue each year.

"the following clubs in the NEWFM 1st Division competition have been granted a 3 year NPL licence that will allow them to participate should they qualify for the NPL beyond 2014;"
no promotion or relegation until the end of 2015 in NBN
You are wrong FR. The clubs have a 3 year license but Promotion and relegation is still in place.
And before you say it, yes I am 100% sure.

Can confirm the same was said at the Jaffas meeting where they explained to fans & ex players the impact of the NPL on the club.
But my personal opinion is that it makes it harder now for a club to gain promotion. The season a club wins NewFM they must hold a NPL Licence and have teams in ages 12, 14 & 16 in A Grade (so they can draw on those to fill their 13,15 & 17 sides the following years). Now unless Associations are willing to guarantee NewFM clubs A grade spots juggling both the senior results to coincide with such junior teams will be trickier than just winning 1st Grade NewFM. All I hope is that as with the holy "criteria" common sense plays a large part in how a winning NewFM club is judged by such additional requirements.

Cunning Stunts ... It would appear you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder with the new Maitland head coach and former 23s Adamstown coach - Graham Law .. as that is all you seem to talk about (got a little crush have we)
Your last 3 or 4 post have been about him man ...
looks pretty pathetic so if he bothers you that much then why not approach the guy and sort out your issue as you are starting to look a complete fool on here the way you keep pumping on about him
Approach the guy for a chat if you feel that strongly about him rather than acting like a keyboard warrior .... Rejected coach or failed player are we ?

Fair enough thats what this forum is for giving opinions - no arguement with that , but you really want to look over your last few posts as for someone that claims not to know him and has no problem with him you sure have targeted the guy recently .

Totally thats what the forum is for , I cannot remember a time with so many coaches changing hands and into each others roles either... The top 10 in NBN , 6 of them wiil be new at their club when the season 2014 kicks off and I have not even worked out how many in Newfm.
And my own view is that I actually think its ambitious and a compliment to the likes of Lakes , South Cardiff and Maitland promoting coaches that have potential to head coach roels rather than just giving the same old names the jobs ..
As always with football results will tell at the end of the day what changes are sucessfull and what ones are not

Not myself RVPs ... just dont like people that use forums to be keyboard warriors or people having personal agenda's ... If you have something to say then say it and like what imyourhero says , back it up in a grown up manner with actual reasons , if not then talk about the game of football.

Club involved aside, I was glad that Graham got another team and is staying involved. And let us all be honest...... what coach is around that at some point doesn't have something negative being said by someone.
From what I witnessed he was a passionate coach, perhaps not everyones preferred style, but as a team they appeared to have a game plan and executed those. I remember hearing him talk to his Rosebuds teams on the mothers day game at Maitland and he was defining their seasons chances on how they played even back that far from the end of the comp.
I imagine, as with all the new NBN & NewFm coaches, some at their new clubs will love then, many respect them and a few dislike them.
