They have to win first. They play Olympic and need a win if they lose and jesmond win jesmond win and they want promotion not as far to travel

C'mon man
18-08-2013, 08:16 PM
suits me if Jesmond come up!!!

really in my opinion the likes of m/brook, singleton, cessnock and the other teams out that way should have their own separate competition, im sure they hate every second week driving to Newcastle..... but that's just my opinion

If u sort it out early a bus trip to mussy is great. we enjoyed it this year was just a shame it was a Sunday and we left our shirts at our home ground. but other then that it was a top day and they are a good bunch of blokes as well.

A few we're rested but Morisset kept coming, it would be a real shame for them to be relagated a few good young players in their reserve grade who are unlucky to not be playing 1st grade or semi finals football.

We may still have a very slim chance of making it to the semis, apparently a 7-0 win next week would get us in someone said today. Interested as to who you reckon are the good young players, might score myself an ego boost here haha

You probably aren't receiving info from the right people... We have an under 18s committed to step up and several players keen to come back. Need to win this weekend first though, going to be a very interesting final day in ZL2. If Jeso win and we draw it goes down to goal difference!

As for the travel, we love it! Especially when we take points on the road knowing that most teams are absolutely hating the fact they have to travel up the valley at some point.

definitely for juniors, maybe for all-age but Id's can travel imo.

Yes, who are you going to punt on?
Les (lumberjack) is always giving his opponents headaches & will be a threat in the finals. Raymond Terrace has struggled in the second round with club depth
In comparison to Suburbs and Wallsend

you've covered yourself preety well with those odds mate. I Think you would make money as a bookie ! . 'If' terrace could produce there best squad id say they would be the best value at $7.5

Yes 7.5 is very risky for the bookmaker, they are safer around the $5 mark with the team they have. I added the 2.5 due to KS still having a chance to get in there, how hot and cold Kahibah have played this season & the second round the Terrace have had.

Wallsend will be also holding there old boys day at the gardens on Sunday against Belmont!!! A massive day for the club as they can secure minor premierships in all three grades, something we have all worked super hard for and to be honest. I think we deserve!

Goodluck to all teams this weekend, except suburbs of course hehe.

They need big changes to personal if their going to push for the top 4 next year lets be honest thier some way of the top teams this year 7-2 proves that. If memory serves me correct Kahibah had a good crack at promotion from the old ID1 comp to the then 2hd comp about 6-7 years ago with big money coming from the Leagues club but it never eventuated, wonder where the money is coming from now?

Congrats to Amish and the boys at the Gardens strong all year and deserve to be where they are. Finals football anything can happen all the best to everyone involved.

Cheers mate!
Being a player that has played in higher grades (as many others in the competition have also), I did not expect the comp to be as quality as it was this year. Every game was a mission to get through (though I could just be getting old) and every point took a deal of winning. Full credit to all teams, who honestly wouldnt be out of place in ZPL. Hell the top 6 teams would be competitive in NEWFM.

Hopefully Northern/Newcastle football sort their shit and make some changes to the competitions, placing teams where they deserve to be.

Goodluck in semis all! Nothing against Bay and Terrace - two top teams with good quality - but I am dearly hoping for a Suburb/Wallsend GF so that we can sort this shit once and for all, eh? With one win apiece, one point and a couple of goals between us; a GF matchup would be a dream.

Edit: not much was said about our game yesterday against BelTing.
The scoreline seemed a bit ridiculous, but credit to the lads; as the club seemed pretty under done with numbers. I did notice one player feature in all three grades (albeit once a as goalkeeper), so its not really a reflection of the competition this season. Tingira challenged us in the first leg. The wheels just seemed to have fallen off in the final rounds.

A good bunch of lads, playing with mates.
They will not only keep players, but add.

Kahibah can recruit and spend as much as they please next season. Its hard to beat a bunch of mates playing for each other. Each team in the top four proved that this year.

I don't think Amish was writing off Terrace or Bay at all. EDIT: Meaning I think he wants to sort us out. Best of luck to him ;)
Bay pushed us hard out in both rounds, 3-0 was flattering for us and the second game was decided at 3-2 in the last 10 even with players out.
Terrace are always hard to pick, different style to the other three, while I thought we outplayed them both games, they are capable of scoring goals at any time which showed in both games. Can't really knock their style if they are scoring goals.

I can't think of a more competitive top 4, Kotara and Suns have their days but everyone was talking about these four clubs from the start for a reason. Every one of these Semis is a grudge match of sorts and the grand final is going to be a cracker.

On the final round:
Certainly didn't hurt as much coming 2nd by a point this year.

There was some talk of 'upsets' in the semis. There are no 'upsets' per se; the top four are too close.

Lads - please disregard sporting pulse with the major/minor semi final scenario. The semi final format is 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 as per the Excel file of the draw all clubs previously received. The website has made a mistake as automatically reverts to past finals formats. Russell Henry is doing his best to have this rectified. Cheers.

Honestly, we played poorly. Made things very hard for ourselves.
Lumberjack threatened as usual, and we were far too lose in midfield for my liking. In saying that, your lads in the centre were a world better than a month ago.
In the top third we were abysmal again; squandered a couple of good chances, and a bunch of half chances. Will look to be more ruthless this weekend and convert more into goals.

Reds really took the game in the second half. A 'shots on target' counter would show that we had the better run. We just need to work on the finals 2 passes/decisions in the top third.

Nelson Bay scored early in the game first 5mins with a well taken shot after pinching the ball high in the Suburb half. From their the rest of the 1st half was a scrapy game some loose challenges were thrown around but all in all Nelson Bay were good for the lead with Suburb rarely threatening Bays goal with both teams making few chances.
2nd Half different story Suburb came out and started playing some really good football although Bay sat really deep and let them play which in the end was Bays down fall they were happy to sit deep and give Suburb the lions share of possession often having 11 men behind the ball and they held out until about 10 to go when threw some good build up play Suburb got their 1st after a low cross was turn in. From there spaces started showing in Bays defense, something expected from chasing shadows for 30mins the 2nd goal came from a goal mouth scramble with bay failing to clear and a nice finish from Suburb. 3rd goal was sheer class Bay defense continuing to dive in and getting punished for it with a good calm finish sending the traveling crowd home very happy and setting Bay a huge task at the Nest next weekend.

You guys can feel a bit hard done by, it took a few challenges before the yellow card even made an appearance. Is always going to be hard to give a second yellow in a finals match unless its clear cut. Our game yesterday could have had a few yellows shown but was glued in the refs pocket :). 1st half you held your own today and looked to frustrate Suburbs, second half you seemed to run out of attacking options and a bit of steam. An Injury to your sweeper and a positional change saw the match swing in Suburbs favour. Well done to Suburbs for not panicing and playing for the full 90, fitness showed today and payed off. 3 goals in the last ten minutes. Good luck next week for both sides.

2-1, we lead most of the game after getting an early goal, was a typical finals match with a lot of hard challenges throughout the game. We gave away a penalty with 20 to go, IMO was not a penalty, any hoo was given. A lot of relief on the Wallsend boys faces. They scored again with 5 to go through scrappy work in the box.

From where I was standing our player looked to have planted himself and your player ran into him, if it had been another one of our players the ref may have had second thoughts about blowing a pen, however seeing as how this player had fouled numorus times throughout the game the ref had no hesitation in giving it.
Will get different opinions depending on where you are on the field, was disapointing none the less.
I don't think I have played in a team before where so many penalties have been given away In a season along with players sent off, was a very up and down season, but good effort from our boys to gain promotion from ZL2 and make the semis this year. In the end not far off getting into the GF.

The pitch in the last few weeks has hardened up some , probably due to the driest winter on record which hasn't helped , the tide does come into play as well so we need to be careful not too overwater it , probably one area we didn't give too much attention unfortunately , it was watered the week before but with the dry winds it didn't help , Raymond terraces pitch by far is the bench mark , personally viewing areas don't come into play on where the pitch rates :)

Nuguns says it true, it ventures away from the imperial system and it's Si Unit is Gns.
However, different from most units in the metric system, it's all relative to an original state.

If I was to refer to the three fields mentioned in my previous post, all three would start with 1Gns.
As the season has progressed to this point, I would rate the three as follows:

Nelson Bay: 800mGns
Wallsend: 650mGns
Gardo: 89μGns

Once the season has finished the measurement is reset to 1Gns and the rating becomes higher as the field improves, resets for the new season etc.

Geez, difficult to get your head around, when my line of work has me usually dealing with 'metric ****tonnes.'

I guess it also allows for grounds to be compared at any time, if you create an updated, standardized register of field condition at the resetting of the periods. They would only have to be updated twice a year.

Example: Three grounds stated above have an initial rating of 7, 8 and 6 - respectively (out of 10 say).
At seasons end, we apply the Gns factor to compare the grounds current state, giving us the modified rating of 5.6, 5.2 and 0.00534.

We should look into this.

Precisely dude. I was thinking about this when I was partaking in my pregame dump yesterday.

We should look into what an optimal fields conditions would be, with soil humidity, grass properties, size, capacity to block the afternoon sun etc. Then work out, relative to each of those values, how positive and negative variations effect the initial rating, then the how variations, as the season progresses, effects the goodness ratio.

Maybe I should have thought about the game instead...

Just want to say thanks to Sean Clerke for the elbow to the face on Saturday, it really gave me the edge and I believe was the turning point in the game. Cheers.
Oh and p.s. I now have an addiction to codeine :) I'll send you the bill later

Now that most clubs have started there pre-season how is everyone looking?
I'll start it off with my predictions shall I

I don't know much about the new clubs other than what I read on here last year so ill leave them out of mine

1st Suburb- strong last year and we're confident of another good year
2nd Wallsend- talented bunch of players last year many of them playing together for the first time should do better next year
3rd Kotara- strong finish to the season and if they don't get banked up with wash-outs will be right in the mix for the premiership
4th Suns- new coach but always a tough opponent
5th Bay- look like they lacked a little depth last year but they had a young squad and should improve
6th kahiba- had some good individuals that made sure they were never easy beat should be strong might surprise a few
7th Bero- pretty ordinary last year but they always showed a never give up attitude

As Barnsley showed last year with a few good additions there's not much difference between divisions so the new clubs might impress.

Good luck to everyone and all the best for a new season I'm pumped see use around
Obviously I left Morisset, Belmont and Terrace out of my predictions and Nelson Bay improved more then I thought they would (although I did say they would improve). Ill give myself a pat on the back I did "alright", thanks for a top year everyone Congratulations to Wallsend and Kotara 3rd grade. See you all next year

I've heard they are struggling to get players myself. I've heard Wallsend have picked up some quality although this division needs not worry about them.

Rumour that I've heard is that they have gone to Wallsend, along with one (or maybe more) of other notable players from the top few sides..
I might have heard it from the same source as Premy though, haha

A lot of change going on over at Mo-town at the moment.. New senior president, currently interviewing for a new head coach..
I don't know much about a return of a bundle of players though.. As with all pre-season talk, I'll believe it when I see it signed on the dotted line.. hahaha

Raymond terrace will be fine without possibly myself or these players that have left, I'm well aware of what is happening at the club and if all goes to plan they will have the right coach and the best possible players, they will push for promotion back to id1s this upcoming season

Stevieg

I don't believe Wallsend bought them, only 2 have gone their which doesn't cause a squad to lose a entire team, they left due to unfortunately lack of numbers , they struggled this year fielding all 3grades and many games I believe many players doubled up , including a few forfeits throughout the year for 3rds , maybe someone from the terrace can clarify , as I'm not 100% sure , either way wish all the best for the terrace in upcoming year , a good club to play against and good ground and finally a club where change rooms are bigger than you average sunroom

We never forfeited a game I don't think, although through the year reserve grade players double up most weeks, the guys terrace has lost are key players when nominations were put it raymond terrace had few players so the went down to id2s, but have since picked up a new coach that will bring a lot of quality players

No forfeits by us in 3rds last season, only had one against us by Morriset early in the season. I dont rememeber ever forfeiting a game always guys ready to double up when required.
Good thing about having younger guys in the squad that can run all day:grin:

THE GALLAGHER SHIELD
Wallsend Fc vs South Cardiff Fc

Wallsend will play South Cardiff in the very first Gallagher Shield. The Gallagher shield is in honour of Peter Gallagher who passed away from brain cancer just last year. Pete played for both of these great clubs and was a special player and person.
We are hoping to make this a yearly event between these two sides. The day will be held at the Gardens in Wallsend on February 2 and next year at South Cardiff, all three grades will play: 3rd grade, reserves and first grade. There will be a points system in place to determine which club wins the Shield, for example: If wallsend win in reserve grade they get 5 pts, if first grade win they get 7 pts etc. Which ever club ends up with the most points will win the Gallagher Shield and will get to keep that shield at their club for the year as well as bragging rights!
Each year we would like to dedicate this day to someone in need. Katie Vullo lost her husband just 8 weeks ago to a brain tumor. He had only just graduated with first class honours at Newcastle University as a lawyer & they were moving to Sydney for a job when he was diagnosed in November 2012 with a grade 4 GBM. The highest grade and most aggressive brain tumor. He passed away at the age of just 30. Katie is also 34 weeks preganant with their first child.
So on the day we are looking to raise some money for her and her child. The day is all about helping someone in need and I’m sure we can pack out the stadium and show our support!
For entry, there will be a gold coin donation. Also on the day there will be a BBQ, raffles, canteen, bar, entertainment and of course, some competitive football.
It would be great to see everyone wearing red & white on the day. After the games are finished, the club boxes at the top of the stadium will be opened for everyone to enjoy some drinks and share some stories! It would be great to get as many old boys from both clubs to make it a special day. Red and white is the colour of the day. So if you have nothing on that day, feel free to come down and have a watch. Cheers
