new foz should be a no-toronto-talk zone - would make the local foz a lot nicer.

1st 4-0 adamstown

Me and a visiting member of the foz watched this game yesterday.

Didn't realise how bad the standard of local football was, the longest of long balls, mindless clearances, fat keepers, keepers who can't take goalkicks, and so on.
The only thing worse was the pitch. A 5 m pass along the ground ended up at knee height by the time it reaches the receiving player.

Stags - out
Macquarie Scorps - out

The ground situation has always been a problem at toronto and valo at this time of year due to sharing with league.Valo have actually played more home games at blacksmiths this year than at cahill oval.I think they have already played olympic magic and jets youth out at belswans home ground. not a big vote of confidence for cahill oval.

Cheers was a top effort by the boys, thornton have depleted stocks due to various reasons...... 19s due to injury have only got 10 tonight with there only keeper out, 23s had 1 19s player start and just 1 on the bench.

No word yet on the young defender that got knocked out towards the end of the game, was taken to john hunter.

Fair enough with 1sts. It seemed like that. Plus big game for them against A town on the weekend.
(Lambton scored within what 3-4 mins) and then they just coasted.

Unlike in the first game when they won 16 - 1 they pushed for the whole 90 mins. Kinda trying to mark a statement in that one.

Cessnock have the three top teams to go, toronto have maitland twice, if cessnock can pull a point from one of the top three and beat toronto in the last round they could sneak in and knock toronto out. I think toronto will end up in 31 points , cessnock on 30 . Get one point against the top three and i think they might get there.

IMO there shouldn't be any washed out matches. Harden up and get out there and play. I thought this comp along with the nbn league are the elite competitions.

Whats the point of having a elite comp if it isnt seperated from intertistrict and only play in perfect weather.

It's getting to a joke.

Maitland Council nuff said.... wtf

Yeah but they're sneaky bastards they release the ground to the clubs 2.30 Friday afternoon for them to make the decision whether to allow to play or not.

This is so they don't have to wear the criticism from mums and dads etc and if clubs open the fields and "they feel" that you have damaged the ground (and who knows what they consider damaged) they can fine the club and charge them for the repair costs.

If there 23s were struggling, id agree, but theyre 23s are flogging the comp, so maybe with 2-3 additions of current NBN first graders, they will finish at least mid table next year in NBN.

If they want to win the comp, recruit 11 of them like some clubs have be known to do. :)

1sts: 1-1. Probably a fair result. Atrocious conditions definitly affected the quality of the match. Pretty open match and can't help but feel there could of been 4 or 5 goals scored if it was better conditions.

23s: 1-10 Maitland. Honestly could of been more. Maitland were up 8-1 at half time so fair play to Toronto for putting up a fight in the second half. Half of the maitland side were under 19s backing up so good to see them scoring goals.

19s: 1-2 Maitland. Pretty tight match. Maitland took the lead after five minutes through a penalty and continued to push until half time. Just after te break Toronto scored an equalizer through a deflection. Game became pretty open and maitland scored of a goalmouth scramble with about 10 to go to get the win.

The two sides meet again mid-week.

What does everyone think of the idea of instead of just being promoted because first grade won the minor prem.
Promotion should be on combining all three grades points together. Who ever is up on top at the end of regular season earns the promotion.

I don't mind this idea tbh. I think a weighted (e.g first grade win = 10, 23s = 6, 19s = 4, 17s =2 for a win) club championship esque, would be the way to go, to determine relegation promotion. But there are a lot of issues that could crop up, such as players playing down a grade and the fact that there's a lot of pressure put onto unpaid, young players in the lower grades.

first grade is all that matters - otherwise you put too much importance on lesser grades & hold players back. winning a first grade comp in any league requires some form of depth in your club.

ridiculous idea.

What does everyone think of the idea of instead of just being promoted because first grade won the minor prem.
Promotion should be on combining all three grades points together. Who ever is up on top at the end of regular season earns the promotion.
where does this leave club development, clubs would forget about this and have a win at all costs attitude in the younger grades, silly idea

With what theory do you summise this ?

15s are going well, but please dont be disillusioned by the fact they are in A grade, as its not, the U15 Elite comp is A grade, Toronto would get smashed in 15s elite.

17s are going well, but please dont be disillusioned by the fact they are in A grade, as its not, the U17 Colts comp is A grade, Toronto would get smashed in 17s colts.

19s are not in the top four, and from what i hear, theyre all looking elsewhere anyway.

Just bursting bubbles, maybe NNSW should call these comps B grade, so kids dont get there hopes up. Good luck to them, but im from magic, and i know what standard these comps are.

They have a good bunch of prospects but it will take a few years. The problem at Toronto is that they have a senior coach who shows no respect to anyone-his players, club officials and game officials. To hear the language and comments made by him it is a wonder that there is anyone left at the club.Several coaches and officials have left the club solely due to this person. There is not a lot wrong that a new coach and maybe getting rid of a few committee people who have been responsible for continuing to support this person longterm wouldnt fix.
And NO-I do not have any connection with Toronto

Not gunna lie, yes they are out of the top 4. Although Im not part of the club my friends son plays for them and they have had a very disruptive season IE with their whole back line being promoted into higher grades every second week due to lack of attendence and players in the senior team. so they haven't really had a chance to gel together. not to mention their average age is about 16/17? so they haven't developed that physical strength other "older" teams have.

19's 1-5

Dominant performance by the 19's, could have easily scored more. They're definitely building up for the finals

23's 4-0

Once again the Toronto 23's have produced another poor result. The Swans played extremely well and their fourth was a brilliant bomb.

Is this just a willy nilly theory? Or has there been a confirmation?

I don't understand why they constantly change things. How are they gauging the success of these changes?
E.g. NBN (I don't know much about NEWFM's changes)
2009: 17, 19, res, 1st
2010: 18, 23, 1st
2011: 17 Colts*, 19s, 23s, 1st
2012: 15*, 17, 19, 23, 1st
Now being proposed: 16, 18, 20, 1st

* = Considered part of state league clubs, but not in State League game days.My point, With changes every year, how are they seeing whether the initiatives are successful.

The same case goes for the constant shuffling of teams. 10 team comp, 8 team comp, 9 teams + Jets, relegation, promotion, no relegation, only promotion, no relegation if team x finishes last. NEWFM from have had a few changes aswell. Constantly moving the posts is not helping anybody. Give clubs a 4-5 year guarantee things won't change, so they can actually work on developing players, facilities and building great clubs.

Pretty close i think, only one that will be contentious, is i think 50/50 whether they go for Lakes or Valentine, both NOW, have junior structures, but i think Lakes will get the nod, because of the ground situation.

....and they are 3 year licences, so no relegation/promotion for three years, giving teams dropped a chance to get where they should be to get back in.

They played a full field game once at training and first grade beat them but both teams were no where near full strength. I'd say first would still win but 23's do have some quality players that could easily be playing first grade at other clubs.

this is all speculation, no changes will occur in 2013, FFA have put forward numerous proposals, and I mean numerous with each one having different scenarios, clubs were asked to put their ideas in which will then be discussed at a later date, the only change in 2013 could be the jets youth, their position is to reviewed at season end by the clubs and they will decide their future, this was agreed upon at a meeting earlier in the year.

Just quickly skipped through it but everything seems to be implemented by 2017.Higher accredited coaches is fine but they really need to make it more financially viable to do the courses or is this another way to raise funds. At present time away from work is an issue to do the "A" license as well.Don't get me wrong better educated coaches is a plus for the system but they really need to look at cost and the way they are obtained.

And unfortunately most of the clubs.

I was thinking the same thing. The flow on effect of this will hurt small suburban clubs that try to maintain junior teams.

The report talks about the Elite clubs maintaining contact with 5 community clubs to support the junior devlopment. It will be interesting to see how that plays out when some of the major (junior) clubs around the area can be 4 times bigger than others. E.g. Maitland V Metford. Where will the return on effort from the elite club reap the best reward?

Its hard to see how smaller suburbern clubs will cope in the future and I would suggest as more parents push their kids to the bigger clubs they are only getting bigger the smaller clubs will end up being only senior clubs.

This also gets back to the volunteer issue. As clubs get smaller there are less volunteers to help and those parents that dont or cant be bothered to help, move on to the clubs with the greater numbers so that they can hide out amongst the crowd whinging that more should be done by others. So the cycle continues.

I'm sounding bitter so I will stop now.

Cahill Oval has disadvantages with ground sharing and the cricket pitch, but it fully complies with the criteria where our other possible options do not.

We have a great relationship with Belswans and what worked really well this year was their making Blacksmiths Oval available to us as a wet weather alternative - this saved us on three occasions this year and was greatly appreciated by not only visiting teams but our own players.

Adamstown have been the surprise packets this year, really thought they would be fighting for a top four spot at the start of the year, committee has done a great job seeing the potential in Glen Chapman knowing hed bring some quality players with him.

Dissapointment of the year Toronto Awaba, to be in a dog fight with Cessnock just to make the semis, and the performance of the 23s can only be described as a poor season.

Maybe the 19s can get a spot in the semis, along with first grade and it might look abit better.

Toronto v Cessnock last round could be an eventful day.

Congrats to Lambton for gaining promotion to NBN unofficially.

Stags have had a horrible off field season, which any member from Toronto would find distasteful if I mentioned online.

23s, I can confirm their regular numbers to training are 3 at the best of times.
I may even make the trip up to cessnock if the results go the right way as this would be that match of the season (excluding the grand final)

I knew adamstown would perform strongly this year, I went to adamstown meeting they had last year before the trials began and done pretty much what the "blueprint" said. Also we can't forget the tonne of money invested during last off season and also with the of glen moving from magic to adamstown I'm sure a fair few magic players followed him being influenced I much like to think it was very much the same thing when Bennett joined the knights and the key players of magic 23s followed him over.

And yes, congradulations lambton, it was only a matter of time !

blueprints, meetings, so called super coach, lots of coin spent, loads of new players, but yet no title, not that successful to me, maybe development would be a better choice, although their coach has no back ground in this.

Their aim was promotion in 2013 and to be playing state league in 2014. 2012 was simply a year to develop the team and let each grade all gel together.

Its been a tough season for Thornton.. You cant paint anything over it. It was a hard ask for the late call up into the league.. First grade did show promising bursts of play from time to time. But couldnt put it together for a full 90 minutes. The club would be proud of the efforts of their 23s side. Who constantly having a changed line up ended up 4 points of the top 4. If only the many draws at the start of the season were wins. But also being the only side to take points from the astonishing performance of the Lambton 23s with some 109 goals scored and 8 conceeded. The 19s started strong but were unable to keep up as other teams improved and our 19s lost their way. I hope they continue to build and get in some fresh experience into the club.

All the best to the teams that made the finals in all 3 grades. Goodluck :).. Congrats to Lambton on their promotion and also goodluck in State League. Welcome West Wallsend and look forward to a trip down to wembley.

Cheers everyone for the season of NewFM Football. Hopefully the club can continue to improve with stability...... for clubs.

You can't compare to winning a Grand Final. Packed out ground, whole club there supporting, family and friends coming along to watch. The atmosphere is like nothing else. Even if you go with the attitude "we've already won the minor and secured promotion, this doesn't really matter", the moment you see everyone there, the atmosphere is contagious and you'll feel stupid if you don't try and win. Hell, send a message to NBN teams that you mean business.
A minor/major double in both senior grades would be a superb achievement for the club.

That wouldnt be a bad idea?? promote the gf winner

Most Aussies don't care to much for the the best team int he comp. we must be the only country that calls the best team in the comp the "minor premier" ant he team that wins a short round robin comp the "major prmier".

It would interesting to see what coaches would do. All they need to do is get into the finals and make run for the gf.

Any Thoughts. Personally I wouldn't like to see this happen but who knows what they will do I the future.

Ergh. Promote to minor premiers. They've showed consistency throughout the whole year. That's what it takes in NBN, consistency all year or you miss out on semis or end up relegated.
Perhaps locally, our mindset may change to consider the minor trophy the Major Premiershp, and vice versa. imo, if promotion/relegation was introduced between all divisions, I think it would go a long way to changing the mindset.

I blame this mindset on AFL, NRL etc where there is one major competition; No relegation/promotion; And the hype these codes give to their grand finals.
