The run home

Toffees:
Fulham (h)
Pool (a)
Hammers (h)
Flower boys (a)

Pool:
Gordies (a)
Toffees (h)
Fulham (a)
QPR (h)

I think we have fair chance to finish 6th so we would not have to worry about fair play. Big game against the Toffees next weekend but know how this season has gone we will probably win against Newcastle, Everton and Fulham then get done over by QPR just to have the toffees take 3 points in London against Chealsea and spoil the party

A second strip I saw was similar to the while with thin black stripes from 2 seasons ago

Also two home strips in two years is a bit rich.

Looked much better once we got away from the 352 back to a 4231, although I would prefer having Wisdom as a CB rather than Coates.
Jonjo needs to go out on loan to Championship or promoted EPL club.
Sturridge is frustrating, so good against Fulham and the Toon but where was this performance last week in the derby?
Coutinho is boss.

Coates will surely be sold in the summer, I don't rate him at all. Rodgers obviously doesn't rate Skrtel anymore?

Sturridge is definitely frustrating although Fulham's midfield was a lot poorer than Everton's was, allowing the space for through balls. Sturridge doesn't have the workrate of a Suarez to really pressure the defence

Still missing enough quality to really unlock the better defences and midfields.

More and more rumours and from people who claim they have people ITK that reckon Reina is off to Barca. I really hope he stays. Barca apparently are after both Reina and ter Stegen. Someone will have to sit on the bench which I don't think they'd be happy with. Unless one of them will be filling in as a sweeper :gent:

JC - Legend, bowing out today. Shame that shot didn't go in. It would have if he fired it back at Reina.

PC - Bargain for 8.5 mill euro. Going to be a class player.

Rumours going around about Coates, Skrtel and Shelvey all being let go. We have such a thin squad already so this talk surprises me. Shelvey has it in him, just needs to get a run of games. His touch last week was off but he hasn't played in the EPL for a while. Skrtel was our player of the year seasons FFS! Will all depend on who can be brought in I suppose.

So the transfer season soon begins....

Skybus would be your best bet. It's $28 for a return ticket. They take you from The airport, to Southern Cross station then split you up again into smaller buses and run you to your hotel.

They then collect you at a certain time you say and run you back to southern cross, then a big bus to the airport.

Super easy and the way we'll be going.

Sterling looks good when he uses his pace, shame about his shit touch at the end. Don't think we can afford another loss until Arsenal. Our draw this year is the best of any top 8 club. We really have a chance to go 6-12 points clear by Xmas. We play United when they have a myriad of ECL games.

Not really sure why on our bench we had Enrique, Kelly AND Wisdom. Maybe 2 defenders would suffice. Enrique and choose whether to blood Kelly/Wisdom.

Looking forward to seeing if Suarez will start next week. Surely he has to play more than 30 minutes?

If they can manage to get knocked out of the Carling Cup early and not have too big of a run in the FA Cup I feel they may have a huge chance in the EPL to make the UCL spots.

Not having Euro Football may be a blessing and being able to focus on the League only could be a bonus to them whilst the likes of Man U Chelsea Man City Arsenal Spuds etc are playing in Europe and some of them are also looking at winning multiple comps

Aspas and Alberto have not really impressed me too much yet to warrant a start in a fully fit team.
I think Suarez/Sturridge will be more effective with Sturridge sitting high and playing the poacher/sole striker role. Suarez working his magic taking on players out wide/around the box and getting seconds from sturridge.
Henderson is good cover for Gerrard/Lucas if either is out.

Interesting comments on TAW about Sterling. Apparently killed it as Right Back in U/20s, they're doubting his finishing. which i agree. Needs more composure in the final 3rd. I think it was 2 weeks ago against Southampton, late in the game, got through the defence to be 1-on-1, took a shit first touch and out for a goal kick. Didn't expect him to score, but that was the worst possible outcome... at least take a good touch, let the defender try and tackle you, or force a save from the keeper.

If you listen to TAW then you know you cant run a midfield with only Stevie and Lucas - we will get killed after about 60 minutes when they are too tired to run anymore.
This is why people dont see the benefits of Hendo - he spends most of the game running around covering their asses.

Lucas is a first half hero.
Gerrard can last 60 until he starts dropping.

2nd half jitters again. Hard to be too critical when you're up 3-0 at half time though, albeit against a lesser opponent.
Henderson was immense, probably best in my opinion.
Sturridge + Suarez did well first half, perhaps a little selfish and careless with the ball in the 2nd, but who can blame them.
Gerrard is not playing his best. His cross-field switch is off at the moment, he tried it 3 times in about 5 minutes, and the ball went out every time.
Sterling, i know he is young, but he really needs to work on his distribution. Stray passes and some poor crossing.

Good win, good to net a few. Could've been a few more.

I defiantly rate hendo and believe he is the long term replacement for Stevie g, but his still got plenty to learn and far from a finished product he is only 23 so still the lad has a big future.

On the topic of holding midfielders I read somewhere the othe day BR may approach Real for Alonso. Would give us real depth and probably move Stevie g up the park taking Moses position.

beast.
Performance somewhat makes up for the Hull disaster.
I get the feeling that Joe Allen's shot earnt him another chance. Otherwise it may have been curtains.

Mignolet is looking alot more confident on the ball. Hopefully he has been working on it. If that continues he will be unstoppable and he can play the Reina sweeper-esque ball-playing role.

Henderson - I really like having him in the midfield. Brings so much energy and somewhat compensates for Gerrard's lack of defensive duties. And helps Suarez and co press when the time is right. 9/10 times he chases them down and forces them to play back. His shooting could be improved though :P.
I think Gerrard should've come off at 60, give the guy a rest. We need to start managing him a little bit better. Especially when we have 3 games in days. Unless he's planning on resting him for West Ham....

Johnson is incredibly underrated. We look so much better with him.

And, It's hard to be critical and maintain pressure when you're 3-0 up after 30 minutes, but it grinds my gears when players see Suarez hit the 42 yarder and think it's a license to shoot. Could've been a cricket score if we made the right decisions.

Sterling - Has so much confidence when he has 4-5 defenders in front of him. But no confidence when it's him and the keeper.

Suarez is a beast. Showing alot of determination. I hope Madrid don't come calling in January in an attempt to resurrect their La Liga ambitions. I'm curious as to what we would do if madrid offered him a sizeable deal.

Very unfortunate not to come away with 1/3pts V Man City. Thought we took it to them but City's counter attack at home is too good.

The humble pie wasn't too tasty, but not too much of a setback IF we get back to winning ways. We have Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Everton all at home this round so hopefully get some points from those and we are back to evens.

Hull @ home, Stoke away, Villa @ Home, Everton @ Home, WBA away. On paper, Everton is only 50/50 game, but we are liverpool so we'll probably lose to Villa at home or some shit.

Toure's last 30 minutes was shite. I like that he was trying to make up for his mistake, but in the process was making more errors. There was a stage at the end where he had a good 30 metres to run the ball up field, instead he tried to thread a nothing ball to nobody in particular and put us on the back foot again.

Cissokho was carving up down the left side, but can't cross it in. All his crosses were cut out by the first man. I'd much prefer to overhit a ball and have the chance of somebody coming in late to the back stick to get on the end of it. IMO a ball to the back stick creates a better angle for the shot as well.

I think those 2 points have cost us any chance at the title. Up until that point we had a chance since we play all the big teams again. But, the gap is getting a bit too big and unfortunately while we can compete against the big 4 we will probably drop points to Palace or something. I'm worried the lack of title ambitions could cost us 4th spot as well. Once we start "hanging on" to 4th spot, i get nervous.

Next few games will be interesting.

Tell hubby if he washes it enough it might pass for sky blue. That's what all the other Chelsea fans did.

Got to focus on league IMO. We are close enough to chase the title.

Imagine if we didn't drop the points to West Brom!

By the way Gerrard absolutely telegraphed that penalty, keeper picked it (easily) but it just shows if you hit that inside netting, ain't no one stopping it.

Some of the newcastle based LFC supporters are trying to get some people together and get the Northern branch of the supporters club going.
As such there is a meet up planned to watch the game against ManU at Wests
If you are keen to go along and meet some of your fellow Newy Reds, check out the FB event https://www.facebook.com/events/780593325284093

Bring on the mancs. I think a big win is on the cards. Moyes will be shitting bricks and will try to defend for a draw...good luck against the SASAS.

Hate Facebook so if someone can keep me posted on here about the supporters group I'm interested. Cheers.

Working down in Sydney.

I seriously hope we put in a good performance tonight. A win, would do us a world of good, since Chelsea dropped points. However, i feel as though whenever we play last (know results) we don't play well. Prove me wrong.

Loving Gerrard in the deeper role. His passing is just as useful and means he doesn't have to run as much. Leaving Henderson and coutinho to do the pressing. Speaking of Coutinho, I think we should start Allen. He adds a calming element and COutinho hasn't been up to scratch (his usual standards) lately.

one of them was. sturridge went around vidic who when to ground (again). no contact, sturridge dived and vidic sent (again).

should have had a peno 5 min after when carrick brought down sturridge

rafael should also have been sent at the first peno. ref bottled it badly, there.

could and should have been a massacre. man utd were let off very lightly

Didn't like Sterling in the middle there. His passing was awful and that Belgium Jedinak kept pushing him off the ball.
He did get about though.
Rodgers post game on the Sturridge dive:
"He jumped to avoid the tackle, there was no contact made, but it wasn't a dive"
Ummmmm ok. It was Wenger-esque in its silliness.
Rooney is the only one on that team who had a go. Geez he's quality.
Liverpool thoroughly deserved it though.

Suarez kept his feet when he could've gone down for a pen early on.
Rafael lucky to last the 90.
Flanagan lucky to last the 90.
First 2 pens were fair enough.
Sturridge may cop a bit for the 3rd. Vidic did go in badly though. Don't
Think it was a pen. But evened out when he didn't get one a little bit on.

Gerrard is immense. So calm under pressure.
Suarez is a gem.
I'm glad Allen played. He makes a more Meaningful contribution when we play against top teams. Coutinho is better suited to running riot vs lesser teams until he develops.
Defensively we played well and shows what happens when we don't make shitty errors and gift Goals. How many times have we been outplayed and conceded this year? I'd say at least 50% would be directly from errors.
