Rumours from Europe this morning that he is being targeted by Everton and Lazio.
Would you be happy to see him go and for how much?
Personally I think he was GOOD last year without being great. If we received a good enough offer I wouldnt stand in the lad's way.

Apparently Lazio and Everton can have him for an undisclosed fee.
That is usually the going rate for our players anyways.
Seriously though this speculation seems like complete horseshit.
Not knocking Brillante but I would have thought clubs of Everton and Lazios stature would be looking at players of superior technical calibre than Josh when they have all the world to scout from

What a ledge this guy is.
Will make the odd wtf pass, but then redeems himself with a 40m run and pin-point cross (y)
Pleased to see him getting regular game time this season, I always rate him more when he's out on the wings. It's where he's done his best work for us and the NT, and I think it's where he played for GCU back in the day.
Also, check this shit for a lol

I actually think he is turning into a half decent no10. Got very good vision and is quite a smart footballer plus has a good turn of pace. Very good at closing down the deeper lying playmakers such as brattan and really forming a good partnership with those around him, particularly zads and kanta. The 3 of them compliment each other very well.

I've been thinking along the same lines. The more I saw of him this year the more I thought that he could also play the #10 role, as you've mentioned.....has vision and smarts and pace. That is why I rate him as the most complete footballer at the Jets!

What a bloke.
http://www.fourfourtwo.com/au/news/joshs-brillante-viola-debut
Josh Brillante was one of the standouts in his Fiorentina debut as La Viola defeated Estudiantes 1-0 in Buenos Aires in the Copa EuroAmericana on Saturday.
Mario Gomez' goal on the half-hour sealed the win for the Serie A side in their first of three games in South America.
Brillante played the full 90 minutes in his first game for his new club after signing from Newcastle Jets earlier this month.
According to ViolaNation.com, Brillant played the defensive midfield position in a 3-5-2 formation.
"Despite his yellow card, however, the 21-year-old Australian was again impressive stationed in front of the Fiorentina defense," said the report.
"Brillante demonstrated himself to be disciplined, calm on the ball, and tireless as he played the full 90 minutes."
Renowned Argentinean journalist Juan Pablo Varsky was impressed with the youngster, calling him a "gem" of a player.
Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella was also full of praise for the 21-year-old during the week.
"Josh Brillante is ready physically and I consider him to be a nice surprise," he said at a press conference.
Fiorentina will play Brazilian outfit Palmeiras before facing Peruvian side Universitario in their final games in South America.

Was really only when Neville got injured and Pepper kept getting found out at full back Brillante ended up at full back

Not from what I recall.
Spent most of his time this season playing the 10 this season when in midfield
Last year with Kantas absence more in the 6-8
Surprising he is doing so well so far.
His positional play in midfield was lacking at times and I would think he would need a bit of work on that as he is now playing in a League where that type of thing is a no no for centre mids

Agree with Borat on this one, Brillante didn't play 10. He was playing much too deep whenever he played midfield to be called a 10.
Come to think of it, who was playing 10 last season???
Under Zane, Heskey seemed to be playing in that role behind Taggart, but I recall under GVE Taggart, Ward, Bridges and especially Brown played that role...never Brillante.
He wasn't playing 10, more like an 8 in a 3 man midfield
Kanta played holding mid and zads and brillante played centre mids.
Basically what borat said.
He wasn't playing 10, more like an 8 in a 3 man midfield
Just reinforces my point about him not holding his position doesn't it??
Was playing the 10 but was always in the 8 role when he shouldn't have been

Brillante continued to push his claims for a starting spot for Fiorentina’s Serie A opener with another strong 90-minute showing in the friendly win over Spanish second division side Real Betis 2-1.
The Viola scored twice in the first half with goals to Juan Vargas and Khouma Babacar to maintain their impressive results during their pre-season campaign.
The former Newcastle Jets midfielder produced another tireless display and must be close to securing a spot in the XI for their season-opener against AS Roma.

I bet even if we made the grass out of jelly they wouldn't do two-a-days here.
Hopefully someone in Newy was wise enough to request this new Football HQ/Football Fives thing to have softer grass so our team can train twice a day and be in Euro-style practice for every season from now on, then!

Interesting to read the spray that Van Gaal is getting about running double sessions at Man Utd and with Holland at the WC. Luke Shaw's hammy injury is the outcome apparently.
I think you can apply this to many sports, that more and more training doesn't necessarily make you a better player. Getting the intensity right is more important IMO

It’s got nothing to do with the grass and everything to do with the base, if its clay, it’s going to become hard as a rock when it dries out, it’s one of the concerns about the works at hunter stadium, if they don’t replace the base, than it’s only going to be a nice looking turf and won’t address the other issues the PFA has raised in the past.
I still don’t understand why not one of the multi-purpose stadiums in this country has even attempted a hybrid pitch yet, oh well maybe in 15 years when hunter stadium gets some more funds for the pitch they’ll look to what’s could serve best instead of what’s cheapest.

Ange: I erred leaving Brillante out of WC
Socceroo coach Ange Postecoglou has admitted it could’ve been a mistake leaving Josh Brillante out of his World Cup squad, saying the decision to cut him was the toughest he had to make.
Brillante has been named in a 20-man Socceroo squad for upcoming friendlies with Belgium then Saudi Arabia in Europe next month.
His selection comes on the back of missing the final cut for the World Cup in Brazil after being initially named in a 30-man squad by Postecoglou.
But the impressive Queenslander didn’t let that disappointment affect him with an extraordinary start to his Serie A career at Fiorentina.
After signing with the Italians from Hyundai A-League club Newcastle Jet shortly after the World Cup, the versatile 21-year-old defender-midfielder has become a regular in La Viola’s side during pre-season.
Brillante has already got on the score-sheet in a friendly in South America and earned the plaudits from his new coach Vincenzo Montella.
And Postecoglou, like many, has been hugely impressed by the Bundaberg-born former Young Socceroo.
“Josh was extremely unlucky to miss the World Cup squad,” admitted Postecoglou in an exclusive interview with FFA TV.
“That was probably the toughest decision I had to make. Probably in retrospect I might have even erred in not taking him.”
Postecoglou added he wanted to expose some new players to international football while resting some other players who remain in his calculations when picking his squad.
It’s hoped; said Postecoglou that by November when the Socceroos play their last pre Asian Cup matches the Socceroo squad’s base would’ve been broadened.
And many would expect Brillante to be part of that squad in Australia next January when the best of Asia hit Australian shores.
“That was probably the toughest decision I had to make. Probably in retrospect I might have even erred in not taking him.”
Not often you see coaches being so honest. Never seen anyone at the Jets own up to ****ing up anything

Can this bloke have my babies??
Was substituted after 35 mins or so. Not sure if he picked up an injury or not.

Wasn't injured, just replaced for an attacking mid as a tactical change.

Depends, do you want babies from the guy we will look back on as the greatest ever Jets player?
So was he Jesse Pinto'd ????
Seems odd a sub at 35mins with no injury

They were a goal down. Montella made a tactical change.
You've gotten so used to tactically inept managers here that you forget subs can be made for good reason in the first half, not Gazza and his "well, we are 3-0 down but I won't change anything till the 70th minute" shenanigans.

yep

Turns out yep. Was at fault for opening goal and then hooked for an attacking mid. Montella has defended his debut though, not sure I remember Pinto existing after he was Pinto'd

Apparently he played THREE games for us.
9th January, 2009. 15 minutes vs Adelaide (the infamous Pinto'd debacle)
18th January, 2009. 4 minutes vs Perth
25th January, 2009. 3 minutes vs Sydney

Watching the highlights of the game I don't think you can say that he should have been taken off for the mistake. In the end, he gave the ball away but a bunch of players got beat afterwards, the original shot was deflected outside the 16 yard box for another Roma attacker to clean it up. For my money, there were plenty of other chances for fiorentina to clean up the mistake and not concede.

he was losing possession often, out of position, poor passes. goes great
Got on for the last 5 mins V Inter last night and nearly scored.

Blokes back in the big time.
Another 3 mins of sub action in his new side Empoli's 2-0 win v Cesena.
Not far away from cracking a start now
As for Birraz poor **** is sitting on the bench now in Series B as opposed to sitting on ours. Good news for him is he is at least free of Phil

Brillante will succeed over there, I have no doubt. The young bloke works hard, has patience and a tenacity to succeed. He reminds me a lot of the old school Socceroos that spent their early careers struggling in Europe before earning their stripes and being successful. I tip Brillante to do the same.

Agreed. Seems to have a fantastic work ethic, will definitely do the hard yards. Expect him to go more the way of Vinnie G than Carl Valeri.

Most would have thought if he can get a run at least once this season he has done well. He has been on the pitch 3 times and now he is at Empoli he is bound to get more of an opportunity than at Florentina. I reckon this time next year he is a regular with 30-40 games under his belt
