"The RBB can confirm its representatives have met with the Club, Venue, Police and Council officials to engage positively in the off season. In response, at a meeting with Police and the Club, the RBB were issued with the following intended restrictions by Parramatta LAC and the Stadium Trust.
These include, but are not limited to;
- Removal of banners and flags or risk confiscation
- No march for any games.
- Zero tolerance for swearing, including in any chants.
- No standing on seats. Including children.
- No standing in aisles.
- Police to engage the aisles to prevent crowd movement between bays.
- One member per seat, with no jumping / side by side movement.
- Capo to be a "positive influence" on the crowd otherwise be removed, along with the capo stand.
- Signing of a "terms and conditions" for person(s) using the megaphone, and this person to meet police and club before each game.
- OSG police to continue to be used in the northern stand with a small presence of uniformed police.
- If these conditions are breached, the game will be delayed or other action required in relation to venue management, at the direction of the event commander, until the issue is resolved.
Cost recovery of all police and OSG required to manage the event will apply to Pirtek Stadium and WSW.
Some of these conditions were prominent during our trial against Wellington Phoenix on Sunday 13th September.
This is an ongoing battle. We will not go away."

Could not happen to be a better bunch of blokes.
Before anyone asks, as far as we understand these restrictions only apply to the RBB however I am waiting on a call back from the Jets to confirm this.

"No jumping"
what happens when someone scores
"No swearing"
You've eliminated half of their vocabulary

Respectfully disagree Wolfy. It's entirely their own fault, and they have been allowed to run roughshod over "the rules" for too long.
And the rules aren't even that extensive.
Rule 1: no flares
Rule 2: don't be dicks
Rule 3: see rules 1&2

They didn't have to punch on with opposition fans, wreck seats and throw flares. If they kept their hardcore element in check, they wouldn't be in this predicament.
They could have been passionate and well organised, without all that other bollocks they carry on with.
But they thought they knew better, and were too busy posting photos and updates on ultrastifo for internetz points.
So their cops have had enough.

Thankfully we seem to have a much improved relationship with Newy LAC

You don't think the FFA could simply adopt this in their code of conduct and apply a blanket rule, Furns?

Agree they've done it to themselves but I fear of the follow on effect that could potential impact the other clubs

They have already tried to an extent two seasons ago with the active areas, mandating that only members could enter active areas. Or that details must be provided to buy active support tickets. It failed, and it caused the smaller active groups to shrink further (especially ours).
The larger active groups just organised via their clubs to have GA areas directly beside their active areas.

I got the feeling the problem is not so much inside the ground. The problem is managing outside parra stadium before and even more after full time...

Obviously, you have a much greater understanding on these matters Furns.

I do understand the reasons for the sanctions. I guess I am just concerned at what happens next for all supporter groups.

Admittedly, I am a pessimist. So everything will probably be fine.

i just don't understand how they can enforce some of these though...

your team scores, you jump up, jump sideways to hug your mate and scream out "**** yeah!". they going to kick you out for that? you'll be kicking the entire stadium out! not saying they don't need to be cleaned up, but i don't really get how they'll enforce the conditions.

Boris left.
It all went too ultra.

Only got themselves to blame, and ****ing stupid to go public with it while club is still talking to LAC etc.
And, the day after the club season launch, way to kill the good vibes and goodwill the club is trying to create.

These guys are ruining their own club from the inside, they'll alienate themselves from the average WSW punter soon enough.... And then their average crowd will resemble Gosford and plans to redevelop parra will be shelved.

1. FFA don't run WSW home games.
2. They actually listened to fans when they did own the club and made decisions on long term growth....which were easy at the time because the team was winning.

Ha...here's a thought. As a lifelong cricket fan I know Thunder is a T20 team? I have absolutely no idea what city they are in though I assume Sydney.
I can name every Australian test cricketer of the 70s but cant name all the T20 teams....sign of the times.

1. FFA don't run WSW home games.
2. They actually listened to fans when they did own the club and made decisions on long term growth....which were easy at the time because the team was winning.
3. I think they've announce next season will see at least one derby at homebush.

The Wanderers home derby is at Homebush whilst Pirtek gets rebuilt starting next season, they are yet to announce where their other home matches will be played at, one ground mentioned was possibly out at Penrith.

Those options include the Olympic stadium (83,500 capacity), Campbelltown Sportsground (21,000), Pepper Stadium (22,000) and Belmore Sportsground (20,000).

tonight's derby crowd was 19,000. The new Pirtek should be 30-35,000.

So he ought to.

The bloke in the grand scheme of things is a 37 year old who played in a big league a long time ago.

He has very little profile and the game in this country needs to move on from signing these types of players

ADP and Heskey came from good leagues to HAL as their careers wound down and could still play at this level

This bloke has come from a retirement home to the comp

So with all the tributes and send off for Archie, what will happen if Victory progress to the next round? Is there another home/away leg in which Thompson could play or would he no longer be in the squad because he doesn't have a contract when the next round will be played?

I assume that's the case but would appreciate some clarity.

If it's the case with his contract. Surely they would just extend it for another month or however long they need to to keep him for the ACL?

Well that's what I'd do.

The membership numbers are shit for most clubs no matter how you look at it. And given the fact you can watch all the games on Foxtel in HD for a lot less than it costs to go to a game I can't see it improving.
Many here would say that going to the game is better but there are plenty of people that just don't want to deal with crowds or indeed over juiced seccos. Add to that the travel time and so on... and it's really not a difficult decision for many to stay at home and watch rather than go through the rigors of attending matches - especially when your team has little to no chance of success.

ACL isn't an excuse it's the reason.

And if we make it next year and it assists us, I won't complain.

Additionally, I think we need the 2 week break. Whether we deserve it or not, we play once a week, yada yada, I still think we NEED it in the current context of our season.

I agree the break aint going to harm the Jets and thrir current predicament as it allows Roy and Pato to find better fitness allows Vargas time to draw closer plus will allow the squad a chance to get over minor knocks etc

Whether it helpd the Jets in the ACL in future is irrelevant

I guess I thought the mindset would be "we don't want their failed discarded coach". I wouldn't want Phil Moss (maybe a bad example).

However, I say now that I wouldn't want Graham Arnold, but maybe that would change - he's probably a more relevant example.

They seem to be making moves anyway, signing Buhagiar from CCM. Similar to what we did before Ernie was announced so I'd say they already know and/or recruitment is largely dealt with outside the manager's control anyway.

The signing of players has already been intriguiing this off-season.

WSW are signing players (4 so far) without a coach in place.

Sydney have signed 2(?)

Mariners have let some of their better players go in Da Silva, Buhagiar and Wales (who looked promising) and replaced them with fringe players (Gamiero) and romantic signings (Simon). I think they're overall weaker than they were last year already.

It’s good to be watching this from the other side.
Knowing from first hand all its doing is giving their managers an excuse. “Not my signings”
Until sydney sign Merrick under an FFA rule that minor premier are entitled to any coach unless they win the Grand Final.

My concern is that Dimi will head to Russia. Dimi will be seen, Dimi will be picked up.

These guys in particular were players with half decent attributes but no ability to really do much damage to opposition teams. I don't have their stats but with Da Silva's technical ability and Buhagiar's half decent pace and strength you'd think they would have looked better than Hoole and Pain. The fact that they looked inferior to those two tells me they both don't have much chance elsewhere.

At least Gameiro and Simon, the half footed numpties they are, know how to make a slight impact on a game. Whether that be elbowing everyone within a 10m radius or making everyone discuss how terribly unlucky a player can be, they still look more likely to do something on the pitch than the first 3 you mentioned.

Yeah it different

Usually we doing the blood letting

Sacking coaches and releasing hordes of players

It not even going to be a dramatic off season for us either (it would appear though we could well sack the coach on season launch just for shits and giggles)

All we going to have to look forward to is whether the club resigns Pato and Vargas or not
If they dont who do we bring in to replace the foreigners
Whether we can negotiate a deal for McGree to come back or not
And the pick up of a player of two to plug the holes in the squad

Going to be a pretty stable off season for us

Obviously selling Dimi or Stevie U might throw a spanner in things but all in all we are pretty stable and can hopefully build into a top 4 club next season again

Next year top 4 has to be our goal and winning at least 1 ****ing game in the FFA Cup being we the only HAL club to never win a game in it

And considering we already made one of those signings, I think it's gonna be a really boring off-season.

I think FFA Cup has to be considered a goal, normally I don't care but after going out in the first round since it's inception I think we do need to actually pick up a victory and get the ball rolling for us.

Considering Merrick was aiming for top 6 last season, and then seeing how good we did this season I would imagine he's aiming for the top 4 and hopefully we can get it and prove this wasn't a fluke season.

Bremsstrahlung
11-05-2018, 11:31 AM
I’d be happy with aiming for top 4. I think that would prove some consistency and build on the foundation we have now.

Hopefully Brugge don’t watch much A league. I think McGree would be great for us, looks like he can play everywhere.

As for Dimi, McGree, Ugarkovic and even Nabbout If things don’t pan out. Newcastle seems a good option. Play well and hopefully we finally get rid of the dead wood from our national team who are still there on service awards and pulling on the heartstrings. There’s opportunity for some of them to push for a look in for Asian Cup selection.

The year after there’s nothing really to aim for for a while. So there could be some more “money” moves. Where in World Cup years the moves are for playing time.

Tbh, Ono had a huge impact in his years at WSW: didn't they win the ACL when he was there?
But the key point is, he was part of a solid team, as opposed to ADP or Heskey who ended up in embarrassing teams.
I agree it doesn't make much sense from a "league" point of view to chase players like Torres (or Crouch, I thought he was retired...) when they are unable to retain players like Adrian, who added a lot of quality to the league last season. Why can't they do alternative home/away. Multiple away days in a row suck

Yet multiple home days rock!

I think it's a reasonable draw. Evening games through the hotter summer months. Two arvo games (both away) between end of December and end of Feb.

2 games in Melbourne in 6 days.

Coast away just before Christmas :brrr:

Perth games away are all reasonable times for travel

We don't leave the state in February.

Why is round 11 played after round 12? Is that a typo?

Leroy George leaving victory... and providing an interesting insight on life in the a-league in this interview. Something to think about when it comes to sport culture

round 15 starts before round 14 too. they're basically split midweek rounds (with another round in the middle of the split round).
