On top of trying to increase the away support to games in NSW, I am of the idea of trying to target (initially at least) one interstate away game to promote and try to get a large contingent to travel to watch the match.

The best way to do this is to target a game outside of a holiday period and preferably on a saturday - so people can travel on the saturday attend the game and go home sunday.
The best option from our fixtures this season looks to be our final away game to Perth on Sat 29th March with a 630pm k/off. This has the advantage of not being a fixture many people go to, however it will cost a little more in fights compared to Bris or Melb. If we get enough interest we may be able to approach a travel agent for a group discount or package including some cheap accomodation.
Only other possible games are Heart on Fri 17th Jan with a 730pm k/off or Roar on Sun 16th Feb with a 4pm k/off.

I will leave a poll open for a fortnight as to whether people are interested or not.

Good idea Furns.

Probably best done in pre season though to give plenty of notice and opportunity to build momentum.

Matches in Melburn and Brisbane be the best bets generally as there are plenty of CHEAP flights from Newy to these locations.

Shit year for away game travel

No Wellington

No double header

No Melbourne or Brisbane on Saturday night ffs.

Perth is a terrible trip unless your spending it in Fremantle on a Sunday arvo

Yeah, aami park would be the best venue to organise it for.

And saturdays would be the ideal.

Has anyone ever approached the club about free or discounted tickets for away games? Imo it's something the league should look into in general to encourage people to travel - and while it's only 20 or 30 bucks it'd go a long way imo

I want to go to Perth! my brother lives over there and it's a good way to get an excuse to see the dirty smurf lover. He'd happily join us and slag off the filth that is the shed and Avanti for that matter!

The problem with Perth is that its as expensive as flying to Wellington, without being as good as Wellington.

Whoever runs the Newcastle jets fans page has organized this for this weekend.

Might get a decent turnout in Melbourne, another stereosonic there next weekend!

Didn't you hear? (MV) made that banner

I heard that (MV) meant for it to be hung upside down. But decided that for the picture he (MV) would actually hold it upside down from its original upside down design.
