Reports from verese website, translated of course
It should now be in the home stretch the definition of market exchange between Varese and Cagliari . The agreement should provide Fiamozzi in Sardinia outright since June, while in the garden city should get Benedetti defender , midfielder and striker Giorico Capello . From the island bounce so market rumors that would be excluded from negotiations goalkeepers - there was talk of Cragno and Colombi - because the company via Manin would be closing a deal for the Australian goalkeeper Mark Birighitti .
Born in Perth in 1991 , has an Italian passport and , despite having played only at home - Adelaide and Newcastle Jets the two teams as a professional - he wore the jersey of the Australian national once, at the Asian Cup 2013 take the field against the China . In the coming hours we will know if the rumor is confirmed or not.
Biraz himself has retweeted that article so I am guessing that's that then.

OUT of favour Jets keeper Mark Birighitti flies to Italy on Tuesday where he is expected to link with Serie B club Varese.
Birighitti has not played for the Jets since being usurped by Ben Kennedy in round eight.
The ambitious 23-year-old, who has an Italian passport, was a member of the Socceroos training squad in the lead up to the World Cup last year.
Frustrated by a lack of game time in the A-League, Birighitti is desperate for a move during the transfer window, which closes on February 3.
Birighitti's European based agent, former Socceroo Vinnie Grella, who also stitched the deal for Josh Brillante at Fiorentina, has been in talks with Varese as well as at least two A-League clubs.
Varese sit second bottom on 23 points and in severe danger of relegation.
They have three keepers on their books, 23-year-old Filippo Perucchini, Cosima La Gorga (20) and trainee Andrea Seveso (17).
Birighitti is in his third season in Newcastle.
Recruited by Gary van Egmond, the Perth born gloveman was the Jets players of the year in his maiden season, earned a national team call-up in his second, played for the A-league All Stars against Juventus and was poised to joined Bayer Leverkusen until a change of manager at the Bundesliga club.
Since that disappointment, Birighitti has struggled for form and confidence.
He started this season as the Jets No.1 but was dropped after a series of unconvincing performances.
Kennedy inked a new two-year deal last week.
If, as expected, Birighitti departs he will be the third Jets player to exit following Sam Gallaway and Marcos Flores during the transfer window. Jonny Steele was released in December.
The Jets are in talks with a host of players, including a Korean left fullback, but are yet to sign replacements.

If management were decent, they'd have a gun keeper, LB, LW and attacking mid coming in in the next 5 days replacing Birraz, Gallaway, Steele & Flores plus an injury replacement for Virgili. Oh that's right......

Alright so we have a week left in the transfer window. Do we think we will complete the signing of anyone? Do we think anyone else will leave?
I was surprised Birighitti's contract was a 6 month loan only. He'll clearly be phased and try to get into the first team, otherwise I guess he's back here to us! I think Carney will be gone UNLESS Stubbins goes first but he's digging in his heels.
I also think Madaschi and Neville will leave. No reason or anything said but just a thought.
And we won't get anyone in.
Biraz confirmed on loan to Varese until June 2015, with an option to buy. He is still contracted with us until the end of 15/16.

This!
Its not like its round one, its not like this one loss has been out of the ordinary.
The pathetic excuse from stubbins that the club has been a mess for years before he got here fails to recognise we have gone backwards and he had squad spots and made signings.
Omfg how good will it be when we miss out on a player or two in this transfer window and we just sign Michael Bridges back up as a player.

Can't get my head around this. So to pull this off:
He must have enough money in the salary cap to pay out four of the five players - plus Carney if he sues AND
Have enough to bring in five new players that will bring the team up to a competitive standard immediately.
He must have enough cash available to pay these senior players contracts out immediately, or risk PFA action AND
Settle all the other debts that the FFA are demanding by 31/1
Given that he won't have all the FFA grant money yet.
My gut tells me that even if this is truly his plan, someone will get screwed, and it will most likely be the fans with a shithouse team for the rest of the year and the senior players who won't see their money until they proceed with legal action. And he probably doesn't care if he's breaching the salary cap either.
the year is fracked anyway so we might as well go all circus on field whilst hopfully the existing club is recovering through the ffa.
Can we have a supporter play for the last 15 minutes each week?

So there is allegedly 5 players on the way in.
From Fox, "As a result of the sackings, the Jets will bolster their squad with five new signings in the coming days including Thailand-based former Spanish Youth international centre back David Rochela, Olyroos striker Travis Cooper, a Korean left back and two players from rival A-League clubs.
“Some of the players we are bringing are on planes as we speak while there will also be opportunities for younger players at this club to perform,”Tinkler said.".
Not really filling me with any confidence.

If it's Roundabout I will personally jump the fence to give Stubbins a right slapping.
These 5 new signings.
Assuming they pan out what say a complete lack of support from the fans towards them???
They are basically replacing the other 4 and Griff who got sacked and supporting them is almost as good as supporting the Tinkler regime.
Almost like non union "Scab" labour crossing the picket line at a strike in my eyes

Absolutely not. It's not their faults, not in the slightest.
Maybe you could consider them idiots for willingly signing up to a team managed by Stubbins + Tinkler, but other than that they're just doing their job, trying to make it in the footballing world.
Also, if we get behind them maybe a moment like this will happen:

The broom is suitable if the players you have are out of their depth when being used property. Stubbins has demonstrated poor tactical knowledge, puzzling (at best) selections, confounding substitutions and no ability to assess a match as it progresses and make changes to tactics or set up. I believe that the players we had, used properly, would have been far more competitive. I can't believe I an going the say this but I think GVE would have achieved more with this group. I'm certain Zane would have been better than Stubbins.

Yup totally agree. If Dundee took over and appointed a coach, then did the exact same thing and put the broom through the backroom staff and squad this would be seen as a necessary step in revitalising the team and starting a fresh. I don't have any faith in Stubbins but he is right when he said our top paid players are not providing anywhere near value for money. Getting rid of them now when the season is over will at least provide opportunities to youth team players for the rest of the season.

That is the issue we all have at the moment.
It's not like we're seeing a Postecoglu-style cleanout that we have confidence will see rewards. We have three people (Tinkler, Stubbins, Bridges) wielding the broom, and those three are people that no A-League club would dare touch.

So in essence we've sacked half of our starting lineup, and have therefore sacked half of our output.
I wonder if we expect better output from the half a team we need to bring in to replace the guys we let go.

Nothing wrong with the idea of a broom through the place.
Big issue is I don't see Tinkler/Stubbins here next season.
As a result all I see is damage being done maliciously to the club with the agenda of causing mayhem and suffering.

Depends how you look at it. IMO if it had of gone the other way and Stubbins was punted, it may have been more popular but would have given very little difference on the field. The squad we have is piss poor and is either not committed nor playing at the level they should be.
Carney, Madaschi & Jaliens are just soaking up a pay cheque. Carney in particular is more interested in his next move to China than putting in any sort of effort for the team. I can understand Tinks when he says imagine what its like paying them. I would rather sign a bunch of locals who want to win and bust their gut then keep seeing these 3 put in such sub standard efforts.
Celeski is an interesting one. Has been injured a lot so its hard to tell what the story is but maybe has not been committed to his rehab. Don't know.
Griffiths you could never say doesn't put in 100%, but his performances have clearly been on the slide this season and struggles to play 70mins. You would have to think this is more about his influence on the rest of the squad.

Griffiths, Carney & Jaliens were here under GVE. I'm not convinced on Stubbins but do we honestly think a change of coach would have solved everything? Carney threw his toys out of the pram since he realised he wasn't playing in the Asian Cup. Griffiths has lost it. So has Kew. Flores is the only player I think has been hard done by.
If Tinkler doesn't go, then he has to rebuild the team. If he does go, then he's done the FFA a massive favour by giving them a bare squad that can be moulded by whoever comes in.
We've lost less than half our positive output and lost more than half our negative output. Anyone wonder whether Hoole chose Sydney to get away from other players? Just a thought.

GVE revamped the squad and Stubbins certainly did this year but other than that it hasn't happened nearly enough IMO. We keep resigning players other clubs wouldn't even look at. If you didn't know Tinklers history, just looking at the clearout this week and backing the Manager is tough but reasonable decision for a club running 2nd last and missing the finals 4 years in a row.
But in saying that, I don't see Stubbins as the man to lead the change the club clearly needs.

madaschi, flores and celeski are all stubbins' boys, so you really have to look at what he's doing if he can't even keep the blokes he picked in line

This is a point that many of us will argue against. A lot of us believe we have (or HAD) a capable squad to make the semis at the least, and it was the British-style negative style of play Stubbins employs that saw us not function to a capable level.
The new-coach feel, many (including me) believe, did wonders for us last year as Zane got us functioning really well. I fail to see how people can discredit how much a new coach would have changed the environment, had we kept the squad.

If the relationship between the squad and the coach has broken down to the extent where the players bypass him and go to the level above for a resolution it says there is clearly a communication problem. They don't agree on a common direction. In a business sense, a good manager should be open to listening to suggestions from their employees but ultimately make the decision. Good employees will feel comfortable they can challenge the norm and voice their opinion but similarly they need to accept the decision that is made and move forward with that decision. The current relationship is very unhealthy for reasons we don't know.
Tinkler has clearly sided with the manager because he thinks his approach is the right way.
However as many have said, I don't think Stubbins is the right person to be doing the sweeping (as many have said). We now have (again) a very young team, with no senior experience apart from Zenon, Kanta (who is still, what, 25?) and Kennedy who have really played any sort of A-League football. The situation we've created is we are still an unattractive destination for players and we will be paying overs to attract them.
I will be interested to see who gets brought in, if anyone, to replace them.

A new coach will give you a short term bounce but unless the squad is capable the honeymoon doesn't last. Zane is a perfect example. We were top 3 under GVE before Burns departed when everything went pair shaped. Short term bounce under Zane until he was found out tactically by other coaches who took advantage.
Unless you believe the 5 should be re-signed for next year, it is reasonable decision to part ways now with 10 games left considering the relationship between coach and players is irreparable.
As I have said before but, I don't Stubbins either.

This is what gives me the s&*#s about the way people are recruited in this league. We have signed BK to two years and like it or not unless he has a brain fart of massive proportion or gets injured whoever comes in will be pulling splinters out of their ar*e for the rest of the season. Why not promote Solari to the bench and as #2 keeper for the rest of the season and bring up someone from local area to fill in the Youth job. AFAIK that bit of paper signed between the players and the league stipulates that clubs have to run with at least 85% of the total.
Sooooo all these nothing signings, are they being signed on big money or what?

I'd say that was what we were using and tinks has given stillborn the go to sack and payout the lost 5 whilst using the remaining 15% plus chilli's injury replacement for the new blood. Also depends what payouts Flores and Steele landed, did they cut and run or push for their full contract payout.

We have signed Mullen from WSW.
http://www.newcastlejets.com.au/article/newcastle-jets-sign-daniel-mullen/12gchtultqicy15nqz20iltxlr
Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the capture of experienced defender Daniel Mullen on a four-month contract through to the completion of Hyundai A-League season 10.
Mullen links with the men from Hunter Stadium a day after mutually agreeing to part ways with 2014 AFC Champions League winners, and rival Hyundai A-League club, Western Sydney Wanderers.
Mullen, 25, developed his football in his home state of South Australia before grooming his talent at the Australian Institute of Sport. The imposing defender – who can play in a variety of positions across the backline – linked with Adelaide United in 2008 and went on to make over 50 appearances for the team from Coopers Stadium.
In 2012 Mullen shifted to the Chinese Super League to ply his trade with Dalian Aerbin, and while he remained contracted to the ‘Blue Hawks’ in China’s south until early last year, Mullen spent time back in Australia on loan with Melbourne Victory in 2013.
Mullen spent the most part of last year contracted to Wanderers, and played an important role in their 2014 AFC Champions League success. Indeed, Mullen played the full 90 minutes in the red and black’s first leg Final win over Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal at a packed Parramatta Stadium.
Mullen then travelled and played with Wanderers at the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup held in Morocco in December.
New Newcastle recruit Mullen said he hopes to show leadership on and off the pitch during his initial tenure with the Jets.
“For me I am looking at this as a great experience,” Mullen said. “I had a good time at Western Sydney Wanderers where I enjoyed a lot of success in winning the ACL [AFC Champions League] with the team. But it’s time to move on and I see Newcastle as a place that I can help the team move forward.”
“I will definitely be looking to show leadership skills during my time with the Jets. I do think I have quite a bit of experience in the [Hyundai] A-League, so I am looking to be a leader on and off the field.”
“First and foremost I want to be a positive influence on the team. I am a fresh face coming in so I am looking forward to bringing in all the positivity that I have shown at my past clubs.”
“If I can play the majority of games and perform consistently for the team I will be happy on a personal level, but it’s important that we give back to the fans that have shown so much support to the Club, too,” Mullen said.
Newcastle Jets mentor Phil Stubbins said he was pleased to reconnect with Mullen who he previously worked with at Adelaide United.
"Daniel is someone I know well from Adelaide, I was involved in giving him his promotion to the first team and he came in and had a really good impact on the team. I know the kid, he comes from a good family, I respect his father Joe as a real football person and I am pleased to be able to bring Daniel to the Jets." he said.
"I am pleased Daniel wants to be part of taking this club forward and this initial contract will allow us to have a good look at him over the coming 12 games."
Mullen trained with his new teammates for the first time this morning and will be in contention for the Newcastle Jets next Hyundai A-League match versus Brisbane Roar on this Friday, 6th February at Hunter Stadium.

Big Phil is a mentor, no one can teach a bloke how to suck as good as uncle Phil. After all with his inherited squad (keep repeating it phil eventually someone will believe you) he's managed to drag the jets backwards at a rate of knots, and make them worse than last year.
I actually like the look of this signing, its only a 4 month deal so that will take him through to just after Phil has had enough and wants to sack him.

Got to give Stubbins credit for that.
It ain't like we can blame the CEO or any other coach.
There is no logic to what you are saying.
The players being signed replace Steele, Flores, Gallaway, Birraz and injury replacement for Virgilli.
That has nothing to do with the 5 players and irrespective we needed to sign players toget to the 20 min squad size
which highlights more of a sh1t job what the curretn regime has done.
It has everything to do with a soon to be new entity, building a new club and not wanting players bought by a cvnt of a regime at this stage.

So, if the FFA take over, given that the 4 who were dismissed have not agreed, will the FFA reinstate them? Will the FFA withdraw Carney's "3 strikes" notice? Imagine the relationship they will have with Stubbins!!
If the FFA take over, either Stubbins or the famous 5 will have to go. Any odds on offer?

The famous 5 would more than likely be back though that is not guaranteed. The payout may take some time and they may want to take it and GTFO
As for Stubbins quite frankly he will be hated at such a severe level no one will be able to justify employing him in the role.
The players want him out and the fans will want him out.
What makes it even more certain is he threw his coaches and players under the bus to save his own arse.

Here's how I'd expect it to go down if the FFA took over:
1. All 5 players will be re-instated to the team (if they wish). Avoids contract disputes for the FFA.
2. Stubbins to be sacked. Relationship with players and staff at the club untenable, and the destabilising effect he's having on the club is obvious.
3. New signings (players and staff) to be kept. Very hard for the FFA to get out of these contracts if they take over.
4. New coach to be appointed quickly given coaching vacuum. Will either be someone from the previous coaching staff (Zane, or *shudder* Bridges), or one of the FFA's boys.

We don't draw the line, because we're not terrible humans and plastic supporters. That's the point I'm making. I understand this completely ignores my last posts intent :rof:
You can't lampoon these guys without even seeing them, their intentions with the club, and how hard they're trying to make things better. If Mullen or someone is just walking around the field and shows no interest, sure, go bananas on him. But not advanced snobbery like you and militia are talking about.
If Stubbins/Tinkler goes, we'll probably still have these extra guys on our books. And they'll probably still try their hardest to do their individual duties on the field, to play well, and help the team win.

Honestly, the thought about them not being from Newcastle did not cross my mind when I wrote that, but kudos for once again irrationally bringing that up.

I wouldn't describe it in the same labour politics, but yes, this is what I'm getting at.
Look at the comments Mullen made when he came to the club. They were absolutely awful imo, how would the players and coaches who have just lost their livelihoods feel about this random guy rocking up and saying "Everything is good"? It was disrespectful to his fellow players who have actually stood up for something and said "We can't stand for being shit anymore, something needs to change".
Look, the club included 3 of those 5 sacked players in its advertising campaigns at the start of the season. 3 more players who took part of the advertising campaign were also released (there are actually only 2 players out of 8 involved in advertising still remaining at the club which is ridiculous).
How on earth do you expect fans to endear themselves towards these ring ins if we have a culture like this at the club?

It was in response to you writing this:

2 of the 3 players we've signed are Australian but not locals. So you're saying that you're not going to support them because they probably know nothing about Newcastle - which means that only someone from Newcastle would fit the description of people you would support.
What else is Mullen going to say about his new employer? :rof:
Just sit down for a second and think if Tinkler and Stubbins go, but the new guys stay, and ANY coach (Okon, Zane, Rudan, anyone you want) comes in and the club all of a sudden seems peachy and you're happy, and the sacked players and staff are re-instated - how will the new guys still there feel knowing that you gave them SFA support when all they did was see an opportunity to help the club, and attemped and will continue to attempt to do so?

What I find more bizarre is that the club can get rid of a whole team of players and replace them with new ones, and some fans will still carrying on supporting these players like the old ones. Even in the context of modern football that is ****ed up.
In case there is confusion, I'm not saying I'm going to be booing them, I'm just saying that I feel nothing for them as I would Griff or Kew. I don't see what's so radical about that.

Have you now changed your tune from "I won't cheer them" to "they're no Griff and Kew"? Of course they're not a Griff or Kew - and I doubt they will receive the same level of cheering etc that Griff and Kew did, unless they reach their level of heroics/whatever. But saying you won't support them, even the slightest bit, is what you said and what we see as radical. You were arguing the picket line etc thing, when now you seem to have radically changed tune.
Another thought, that others are bringing up - what about the guys on the books already that are not involved in all of this? This is from Joel Grenell, player agent of basically all our locals:
‘‘We’ve had conversations and I’ve said, ‘Look, keep your noses clean as there’s no winners in these kind of scenarios and you’re best off working hard and getting back in the team’,’’ Grenell said. ‘‘Most of them need to ensure they’re playing regular football to get a contract.
‘‘To my boys it’s a very clear message and they’re all in agreement that they need to knuckle down and work for their futures.’’
Do they stop getting cheers too - as they're solely focused on playing regular football and knuckling down for their futures? How are they different to the guys coming in, apart from the fact that they were seemingly not apart of the attempted mutiny (that word sounds harsh, particularly because I agree with the 5 players and 3 staff, but I'll use it) but watched it all unfold and did nothing about it?

I wish it was in some capacity with Zane too, I think those two would work really well together for some reason, but anyway. Jonesy will have our team fit and hungry in no time, I hope!
Anyway, back on topic and off the argument deflections..

Interesting he's both assistant AND S&C - that's works with my redundancy theory! And Van Stratten is GK Trainer? Not GK Coach which was Young's title?
Another thought, that others are bringing up - what about the guys on the books already that are not involved in all of this? This is from Joel Grenell, player agent of basically all our locals:
Do they stop getting cheers too - as they're solely focused on playing regular football and knuckling down for their futures? How are they different to the guys coming in, apart from the fact that they were seemingly not apart of the attempted mutiny (that word sounds harsh, particularly because I agree with the 5 players and 3 staff, but I'll use it) but watched it all unfold and did nothing about it?
You bring up a good point there WLG.
Those blokes still at the club who choose to play for Stubbins and support the regime and do not stand up for the injustice inflicted upon their so called mates like Griff Madaschi Kew and Celevski (**** Carney) are no better than Stubbins and Tinkler and ain't Newy at all.
Griff Madaschi Kew Celevski and Bridges plus these unnamed 3 who won't play for Stubbins but the fans and our fans who stick solid are who I support.
The rest of the plastic ****s can get ****ed

Please note that what MFAW has said is not my view on it all. I was merely making a point about the Grenell boys to see what militia and blackmac's take was on that, and how they compare it to the new guys coming in.
For what it's worth I'm believing that Griff and the other 4 basically told Grenell and his boys to keep quiet and do their own thing, and that they'll be the fall guys for them, as they don't want to the young locals to get caught up in the nonsense. I hold no grudge on any of the existing boys whatsoever about this whole debacle (maybe I don't rate some of them as A-league quality still, but that's not the issue here).

Basically your saying that your happy that they chose to agree with Griff and Co that the squad had no faith in Stubbins and got Griff to go to Tinkler to tell him how the squad felt on their behalf.
When shit turned sour and Stubbins lied to save his own arse and cut Griff and co loose and threw them under the bus you are happy these blokes have failed to stand by their mates and have in fact deserted them and have left them to take the fall on their own whilst these blokes have retreated and gone into hiding to protect their own arses and their bags of silver with their future career??
That to me is not Newy and a disgrace that they have failed to stand by their mates.
As for the advice the PFA are giving everyone of the players it is a disgrace and just shows what a joke of an organisation they are. They should not be interested at all in negotiating any form of pay out for the 4 shafted by Stubbins and Tinkler at all. Their only goal on that front should be getting those boys their ****ing jobs back.
Their advice to the other players is a disgrace. In light of the violations to the livelihoods of the four shafted the rest of the players should have been ordered by the PFA to stand solid with their colleagues.
As for the rest of the ****s out there in the HAL when Wankers were having a pay dispute for the CWC they were quite happy to stand with them and offer support for their greed in getting more money. It ain't like they weren't paid for their ACL win and also had a HAL wage either and asking for extra money was just greedy opportunism.
Now 4 of their fellow pros have been shafted by Stubbins/Tinkler the silence from the same blokes is ****ing deafening

I would almost certainly have preferred for every player offered a contract to come in mid season turn it down. That way Tinkler will be gone quicker. It's not like results matter anymore.
Agree mullets comments were disrespectful and only idiots would swallow them.
It just comes down for me, is that we have a bloke who doesn't like football running our club. And a bloke who doesn't know how to win a game coaching. By bringing these players in it has undermined the fall the 8 club stuff took to get rid of the kvnt and his dog.

I'm actually looking forward to Friday night more than any matches post Round 3. Sure to be fireworks all around; metaphorically of course

If people aren't gonna cheer the new players, u may aswell not cheer the remaining 13 or so as borat says. And if your not gonna cheer them u may aswell not turn up.
This has been my approach with the Jets for 10 seasons now.
Farken worst club eva.
