Guessing we will return to O35 Fri A's. Expected to get smashed last season, came in third so looking to do better this year. Mind you, some funny things happened last year with the gradings so we could end up anywhere.

Can't wait for the season to start though, 14 games just isn't long enough.

do you play at 6.30 or 8?

Timing on Friday night depends on the grades. It seems the higher the grade, the later you play buit All Age trumps old farts and seems to get the later games than O35's. Which suits me as the beer comes out.

Home games at 7pm at Lambton, away games vary.

Also, this season sees the introduction of the first club to transfer from HCCF to NF.

please elaborate. Im sure there have been teams that have made the switch or is this a 35's thing?

St Johns Anglican FC played the last 3 seasons in HCCF, running all age teams. The club decided as a whole at the end of last season to move to Newcastle Football. As a result of it, we have since formed a partnership with Fletcher-Bishop Tyrrell JFC. We will be playing in the all age comps under the St. John's banner, but sharing a ground with Fletcher/BTAC.

In short, the St Johns AFC that has been playing in HCCF is now playing in Newcastle Football all age comps this year. I don't know of any other existing clubs that have done the same.

beware, a/a is a step up. It doesnt get much kudos but there are some decent teams getting around in most grades.

Yeah I know, played there in '11 and watched games regularly last year. We've got some good players like Halo and one,of our strikers was top scorer in Div 2 last year (when he was onside..........) . Main reason we're moving is that the mob running HCCF are incompetent at best, plus there's more room to grow in Newcastle Football vs churches.

Aiming for around M and O grades.

Still with Lambton O35s. Tried the O45s but it was a joke ... no finals and refs treating us like we had temporary release from the Aged Care facility, trying to negotiate shorter game times so they could get away sooner while still earning a few bucks.
O45s was effectively canned last year anyway as the few registered teams were spread out amongst the lower O35 divisions.

Hey all… I could use 1 or 2 more guys for our All Age (L or P division) sides, based out of Fletcher/Shortland. We got our draw this week and we don't have games in the middle of nowhere... the longest travel will be to Valo/Stockton.

The players don't need to be great (it's L division FFS), but at least committed to turning up to training and games each week. Any age, any skill level, any position. If you know anyone, can you please PM me ASAP!

looks like a tough year in both grades. you going back to churches?

Nope, why would we? The move to Newcastle Football was for the long term future of the club. Churches is horrendously badly run, worse than Hunter/Macquarie or Newcastle could do. Next year we'll more than likely be known as Fletcher Saints, in a move to more closely align ourselves with the local community. And yeah it was a tough year, the p grade is a bunch of teenagers with a few older heads, which didn't help, and the L graders couldn't get the same 11 out each week, which didn't help things either, plus we lost our player of the season from last year who's returning next year. Next year should be much better.

End of an era at Wallsend (Federal Pk) last Saturday when NAWA (N'cle And Wallsend Amateur) played their last game. (O35 Sat C's)
They lost 2-3 to Morisset and finished 8th. Dale C informed me last week that he wasn't continuing and nobody was keen to either play on or take up any committee positions.

NAWA was the club where quite a few of us at Cookers who started the new incarnation of the club first consolidated playing for NAWA between 94 to 97 when Cooks Hill Utd was founded (Dec 97)
There was a lot of recrutiting that use happen on the Rowdies Hill for that club (NAWA) back in those days.
There were hopes at one stage of trying to build something out at Bill Potts Field (end of Creek Rd) but efforts (mostly mine) to get anything concrete lease wise from Gretley Colliery or anyone else (NCC etc) was fruitless.
That plus quite a few of us lived in town meant there was a need to look for something more local in the end.

Well done Dale C and all the NAWA lads for carrying the torch this long.

Well at least you guys wont have to play Rutherford if this w/e gets washed out (which at Valo is a very high chance).

No ... we get to play Warners Bay (lucky us).
I'm still hoping for a game but suspect that they might kick us old farts off in an attempt to salvage Saturday games.

There ain't no pitch to step on. Many of the Newcastle (aka "coastal") grounds are almost under water.
On the other hand, I couldn't believe how dry Fieldsend and Seaham Bowthorne were on the weekend.

Anyone got any idea of how susceptible Gregory Park West Wallsend is?
Hate to be negative but I've got a feeling we're going to exit the semis without kicking a ball :banghead:

I remember a great assist 5 minutes in at the home game against them, not long after Kenny said do nothing silly :lulzturtle:

We are at Gregory Park as well, if its washed out, we go to the Grand Final without kicking a ball. Not sure how well it drains there.

Id suggest its not looking great though.

Stormypete would be playing now and should be able to update.

I should be out there supporting my team at 8, but couldn't get anyone to watch the kids so I am relying on someone sending me text updates.

I'd imagine the ground would be pretty ugly after the last 2 weeks rain.

Gregory Park was mush, that was before the games were played. Players slipping over all the time, especially one Warners Bay guy, eh Pete?

I'll be surprised if theres a lot of grass left in the centre channels for tomorrow.

High Ankle Sprain in the preseason, waiting to see a surgeon in 2 weeks. Essentially, the ligament that holds my Tibia and Fibula together is missing, and two others are mostly gone.

I managed to get out to the game tonight, field looked crap. Wet and slippery. We went down 3-2 to Norths, so that our season done. O35 A Grand Final will be West Wallsend (beat Singleton 3-0) v Norths.

I overheard an official say they wanted to call it off yesterday, but Northern wanted it to go ahead. As bad as the field was though, it was playable. Its pretty chopped up though, will be destroyed by tomorrow arvo. Its wet, slippery but not dangerous. Id say the right call was made to play.

Doesn't help either when Warners Bay have a bloke up front who seems to fall over whenever someone goes near him.

You get a bit sick of that after a while....especially when they don't need to resort to those tactics.
I agree with late_to_the_game. Leave H grade to "us hacks".

As much as the pitch was crap on Friday night, it was good to get on the park. Would much rather go down blaming the refs, pitch and "divers" than bowing out without taking the field.
Great effort from the Jaffas. The 5-1 scoreline (which I think was actually 6-1??) was no indication of the effort OR the contest. We were down 2-1 with 20 to go. What happened after that is a bit of a blur.
Post game drinks made it all seem worthwhile.
