I don't have any record of Tarek missing a penalty in his jets career. Happy to be proven wrong if someone has a better memory than me.

ONly people I know to have missed are Milicic (v NZ Knights), Zura (v Victory), Thompson (v Sydney) and Burns this season.

Yeah that's a great expression which takes me back to 2005.

At the time Australia had an all conquering Cricket Team.
Ponting Gilchrist Hayden Langer Binger McGrath Warne etc We were on top of the world and Test series were a mere formality. Some bloke we won't mention any names but lets just say he thinks quite highly of Kale Bradbery spotted that Australia were paying $1.45 to win the 2005 Ashes series against an English Cricket team who had showed very little in the last 15 years.

This big fan of Kale Bradbery decided it would be worth his effort to head down to the building society and withdraw $1000 and put it on Australia to win the Ashes at the juicy odds of $1.45 figuring $450 profit was much better than leaving it with the Building Society for 2 months.

After the first test Australia won he assumed it would be a mere formality and a few more weeks before he would be reunited with his $1450. For some reason McGrath tripped on a ball in warm up for second test and was ruled out. Australia capitulated chasing 270 odd in that test with the last 2 wickets putting on a motza only to get given all out 2 runs short from a crook decision.(WHERE WAS THE ****ING DRS)

2 test later and it was all over this mad Kale Bradbery fan as he had done his ****ing dough with 1 test to ****ing play.

Really pissed him off when the same ****s 18 months later thumped the **** out of the Poms 5-0 in a canter

 what?

its a shambolic event cause you don't know the name for a sport you openly admit you don't follow. I'd imagine your average yachting fan won't know about the club world cup guess that's a shambolic event too.

So does the swimming World championship cop the same treatment, after all not every nation in the world is represented at this blatant fabricated "world" swimming event.

Its just an exhibition game what's the big deal.

Did you have the same level of disgust at the "blatant lies" the FFA spread about the HAL "All Stars*" last year

Great idea to play against an indigenous team. The Jets should do stuff like this as well. All about creating goodwill in the community which is a good thing.

Who wants to bet whether or not we get a new pitch laid for the Asian Cup? Part of me says they obviously have to but another part says that they won't and we'll be the embarrassment of Asia.

My bet is that they are holding off on any renovations to the pitch until the Asian cup to save a few bucks.

i agree its an awesome initiative, but i don't agree with the venue or the timing, they might get 5k (i would be very suprised if higher) why not take it to a rural venue such as cessnock and raise the price 5$ and make it a sellout.

i have never seen the jets play a trial game at hunter stadium in league season and i assume this will continue unless we get a manchester united or an mls team again and its a show who HSG consider more important.

at the end of the day we have the worst field in the a league and that's the truth.

Pico

With the amount of games that Hunter Stadium will have they simply can't do this on the cheap..... but they will.

This is an opportunity for the FFA & the Club to push for a modern multi-sport pitch to be installed, one that will serve both codes (right up HSG's alley)all year round, just look at English pitches that can be used for union and football with far superior finishes then what is at hunter stadium now.

Lets face it.. if anything Sydney's will be re-laid and look mint, so too Melbourne, but ours will be the cheapest band aid solution possible. Which ironically will end up costing the government more in the long run, if only they would look at the bigger picture.

When's the motor cross?

If pitch is no good come Asian cup the AFC will move the games.

I've heard they (the AFC) are already not happy with the pitch's "hump" they way it is higher in the middle and runs off to each send and each sideline.

Apparently our field has the worst "hump".
And I'm reckoning the hills might well be roped off, or fenced of, like the hills at parra stadium have been.

I can see the AFC and the Qatar WC team joining up and having massive painted signage "Qatar 2022" painted all over the hills to rub salt into the wounds.

If the pitch does not come in for a major rebuilding for the Asian Cup it never will.

The FFA & club should be coming in for major scrutiny over this. This is the sort of legacy that these events should be leaving. The fact they have been talking about using Cessnock as a training base, can just see it now home of the goanna's getting more of an upgrade then any football venue in the region or hunter stadium. This is the time the FFA should be saying to the government lets get this done properly, lets get a modern multi code suited pitch system installed and then we can look at getting future Asian cup qualifiers here.

Well that was a ****ing embarrassing and lethargic performance.

Probably one of the worst games I've seen this year punctuated by a couple of moments of decent play.

I think it's about time to forget about the zadkovic/caravella midfield combo. They're leaving the defence exposed too often. Hopefully Kanta has a miraculously quick recovery and replaces one of them or we go back to playing with 3 in the midfield.

Nice to see Goodwin get the two goals. Don't know how we managed to **** up and not score a couple more at the start of the second half when Goodwin was finding all kinds of space and there were giant ****ing holes in the Wellington defence...

This. Did GVE surround himself with players who won't put in the effort or who don't have the determination and desire to win?

Reags was the only player I could see showing desire for most of the game and he was partly at fault for not putting the effort in for the nix goals.

Zads as well, and Taggart some times.

I wasn't too impressed with Zads today. I feel like he isn't working as part of a 2 man midfield. It seems like he's been told to tone it down and not cover so much ground so the midfield isn't left short but as a result he seems to be in no mans land all the time. Doesn't really get involved in attack. Don't remember seeing him track back to help the defence when the Phoenix made a break, so where was he?

Tags ill agree on, but he tends to get frustrated in games like today and then get greedy towards the end and **** up some attacks..

That ref was something ****ing special though.

How the Wellington bloke didnt get a yellow for deliberately manhandling Goody 15 times in the one play before actually succeeding in dragging him down is beyond me.

Still have no idea why we never got a penalty when Kew was violently pushed to the floor in the box?? The ref seen it and spoke with the culprit yet no action? WTF

How do these blokes get gigs at HAL level when they can't even get the basics right??

To top matters off the dumb **** even was about to **** up a restart when the Nix full back took a dive to the floor to stop the game. Instead of a throw in the dumb **** started moving up the park ordering a Nix free kick until enough abuse caused him to remember it was a ****ing throw in. FFS Amatuer

When the **** are we gonna get some competent officiating and heaven forbid an occasional home town decision??

As for those blokes in red and blue. Zads isn't a central midfielder for a good HAL side end of discussion get him out of there. Carravella is a ****ing liability. Those two were nowhere to be seen on each of the Nix goals. FFS Who is picking up KFC Hernandez??

I'm no PV4, but I can give you some Bridges stats (had to do something to keep myself amused at the end of the game with the drivel we served up):

4 turnovers (3 of which were in attacking positions and wasting all of our momentum)
3 or 4 completed passes out of about 9
2 stupid fouls

1 key pass (oh wait, Taggs was called offside so that one doesn't count...)

Agree on the ref, was a pathetic display by him capped off by the lack of yellows you described and the **** up with the throw in/free kick fiasco. Goody was remonstrating with the ref about that one for about 30 seconds before the ref realised it was meant to be a throw in- shows how much attention the refs actually pay to the players.

What a load of unmitigated crap.
Their first 2 goals came from wayward short passes in our own back third from that oxygen thief Galloway and Goodwin. Their 3rd came as NO ONE put any pressure on an opposition player 20m out and directly in front!
When our defence stops a high ball, 90% of the time Wellington got the scraps. When their defence dealt with high balls they got the scraps. This is an example of the complete lack of linkage by our midfield with our defence and attack.
We were constantly beaten to the ball all afternoon.
Any penetration (insert rude joke here) we had came from the flanks so we replaced those two players with an old central striker and a defensive midfield player and went route 1 to a short central stinker! F*ck me can anyone else see this!!
Sure Goodwin second twice but he is so easily pushed off the ball.
Caravella back to his "roundabout" best in attack. He did pull off a few good tackles however.
Who is the bald bloke with the captain's armband? I don't recognise him at all.
Galloway. Muppet. Arse Clown. Numpty. You choose. He is a joke. No wonder their right side players got cramp:they had a field day on our left as Goodwin rarely chases back and Galloway is beyond belief. God, I hope Carney gets fit fast.
Why don't we shoot from 20m? We rarely score from a cross as a)our crossing is crap and b)we are short in height up front without Heskey.

I need a drink. To lose to that Kiwi shower of sh!t

What else could Biraz have done for their goals? The first Biraz was slightly off balance when Hernandez hit it, and couldn't have done much more anyway. The defence should have pressured him more. The second, Hysugems mis-hit it. He was trying to belt it to Biraz's right, which Biraz was going towards, but he mishit it and it goes into the other side. And as for the third, he hit it into the bottom corner and once again, the defence gave him all the time in the world to hit it.

I would be looking at Regz and Kew before I would Biraz.

After a drunken analysis last night I can reflect more maturely.

Overall, it is the midfield that is costing us and that is flowing on to the rest of the team. They are either letting the opposition slalom through them or not having the skill or vision to put through the correct pass when attacking.

Galloway is a problem but Taylor and Kew can only paper over so many holes. I too, noticed that Taggart made some great runs yesterday but nobody saw them. Is it at all possible for Griff to play the number 10 with Taggs and Heskey up front?

Ruben has lost it since GVE was sacked which is bizarre - the hunger either isn't there, or he has been told to cool it.

The young guns were poor yesterday apart from Goody.., guys turn over the ball, or kick it out with NO pressure on them - pathetic.

I was hard on Birraz yesterday but maintain that he has some issues with dominating his area - have a look at those first couple of minutes. I am thinking he is in the same position as Covic in his last season - I truly believe his mind is somewhere in Europe.

Heskey and Carney in next week and Griff the week after - we don't have any time left. I can't see another miracle against the Roar next week.

From scanning this thread this is what I have to say ...

- Bridges should not be getting game time, made a particular effort to watch his "impact" when he came on. At a time when it was extremely important for us to maintain pressure and not give the ball away cheaply he did simply that. How many opportunities has he had to make an impact of the bench to no avail. Give it up.

- Brillante should be in midfield.

- Gallaway was continually caught out.

- We were over-run and out played in the midfield in the second half

- People saying Phoenix are a "shower of shit" might want to check their form over the last few games, if you expected us to beat them then you're delirious. IMO they clearly were favourites coming in to this game.

- Taggart makes good runs but his hold up play could use work.

- Whoever was calling for Birraz out and BK in is deluded.

- We're shit.

Edit: Also was funny and not surprising to hear we have the worst pass completion percentage in the league. Top work GvE with your passing possession style....

Grimario

- Brillante should be in midfield.
- Gallaway was continually caught out.

Carney in, Neville magically recovered and that sorts that out. He hasn't even played yet but I almost hope we keep Carney for long term. He's better than bog standard A-League quality, even if he isn't up to scratch to the dizzying heights he found himself at.

- We were over-run and out played in the midfield in the second half
Kanta + Beard + (I guess) Rubez in midfield sorts out the last one. Rubez needs to be let off his leash and just run around like a mad cvnt. He isn't specifically good enough at anything else and without his constant presence EVERYWHERE (with Kanta doing the defensive filling), he isn't worth a spot on the field, let alone the captaincy. Probably an unpopular opinion really but meh. I am in Adelaide now, Zads Lads can't touch me :lulz:

- Taggart makes good runs but his hold up play could use work.
Yeah, if only we had a big strong target man to hold the ball up better. Shame he has gone to complete turd this season (and half of last).

I'm with you on zads grim. I fully expect the next coach to drop him to the bench. Midfield of Kanta & Beard with a creative mid working in front of them.

Hopefully for the next game we see Carney at left back and move gallaway across onto the right which should suit him a bit better. This would let beard return to the centre and rid the team of the roundabout.

I really hope Bridges gets the starting att mid spot, he needs to start as many of the upcoming games as possible, last thing we need is him limping into another contract next year but the only way I can see that being avoided is if people see him get consecutive major minutes from the start in his preferred position, and why not against Brisbane, we'll need his "impact" to try and claw our way back from the demolition Brisha and his mates are going to unload on us.

Season is a write off - best thing to do is to give Bridges game time to show just how garbage he is instead of fanbois going "oh but he only gets a few minutes at the end of games, that's not enough to show how awesome he is". And we don't have a right back of any sort. Ours got a season ending injury so we SIGNED NICK WARD as a replacement. Are we better off playing Pepper (not good enough), Gallaway (not good enough), Brillante (good enough but better in midfield) or Hoole (is he good enough?) as our right back?

Watch us play Carney there next weekend.

Last thing in the world we need to do is give Bridges a start. We jag a win (law of probability says we are overdue also) and the bloke will be hailed as the messiah and given a new ****ing contract.

Disagree the season is a right off. I know we are shit and are a miracle that ain't coming (Griffo and his magic touch not withstanding) to be there finals time but we shouldn't be ****ing conceding now otherwise we are as soft as our ****ing players.

We do so have a ****ing right back we just play him out of position in centre midfield coz some ****s think h=he has good engines and likes running around like a headless chook yet contributes **** all there. The bloke is a moral to make a good right back if he got put there

Take some meds son.

You have just called for the inclusion of Bridges into the starting side and the retention of Galloway after an AIDS like performance yesterday all in the one post

Your off your rocker

yeah because the alternative has been so productive. The even remote possibility Bridges could be re-signed for another year frustrates me immensely, another squad spot taken up, more salary cap wasted and a wasted bench spot every week, then the inevitable wasted possession.

As for Gallaway he's no Neville, but who else will we play there Beard is wasted there. Personally I'd love to see us actually promote a youth league back but the fact we went and signed ward says to me the coaching staff have no trust what so ever in the youth players and they think gallaway is better, now that's saying something.

Some still think this season has hope, I disagree, I believe it has already reached the write off stage. Time to start taking our medicine so we can start healing for next year. Lets sort out the players we think can be kept, the players that need to go & find out which of the youth team has the ability to step up. Then clear the slate for the new manager. Have the club management cut the deadwood free, from coaching staff & assistants to first team squad and youth.

Enough of these half arsed re builds, if your going to do it doing ****ing properly.

My hit list would be Bridges, Roundabout, Gallaway, Chilli, Heskey, Zads, Brown, Deans, Dodd. Middleby

On Zad, beard and Kanta, we have 3 great centre mids, why the **** don't we play a formation that will suit them? We bagged GvE for not playing a system that fits in with the players, but here we are, proposing to drop one of the Onky players who actually gave a shit for the jersey! We can easily fit all three in the starting 11.

Most important point here is that you claim they are great centre mids. I will retort that they are average plodders at best. Kanta and Beard may yet develop into good CM's but at this time they ain't GREAT

IT IS ALMOST AS ****ED UP AS SAYING MIDDLEBY IS A GREAT CEO

Zadkovic at right back. Surely he can deliver a cross past the first man

Past the 1st man, over the goal, into the crowd sure no worries.
