Victory have lost Fernando Romero, Nani, Bruce Kamau, Matt Acton, Lleyton Brooks, Kike Lopez and Tomi Juric from the squad that finished last year.
Victory are terrible. Unfortunately, we are flaccid, too.
The draw happens tonight at 7pm.
Please not first up at Scum Park so they can parade their GF cringe in front of us.
Bugger - my bad, my dementia is getting worse!
Predictions for the line ups as we get closer?
I'm predicting at this stage, based off nothing but how we left the end of last season:
-------------Weier---------------
Aquilina--Cancar--Natta---Mauragis
------Grozos-----O'Neill---------
Taylor---Piscopo-----Ingham
---------Buhagiar----------
Winner of the Jets and Victory have been drawn at home against Brisbane Roar.
Of interest, in the 12 matches we have played since 2014, we have been drawn against A-League opposition 10 times. To be fair, two of those are qualifiers so we had to face A-League opposition.
We've never played the Roar and in the Round of 32 (or later) we have lost to A-League opposition 7 from 8 matches.
Tough times.
Edgy v Western United
Magic v Sydney United
Interesting games there.
And Smurfs host Scum.

Surely this isn't the new strip, Mattiske said they would preview it in the cup :fright:
That does seem pretty ugly.
The "New Kit" is just last year's training/warm up kit. The don't even pretend they don't care anymore
Club is a circus. The other club owners could not give a rats ass clearly demonstrated by the quality of recruitment for this upcoming season. When you look at the quality and value of the departed players and those that have come in for them it is pretty obvious. Only last week talk of a proven forward n defender taking up remaining spots but by the end of the week just a defender.
If i was a betting man i would be putting my money on this scenario having been sorted behind the scenes.
Short of a miracle and no investment/owner is found for the Jets then it is curtains at seasons end for the Jets. Any new license sold to another region ie ACT, Wollongong Wolves etc and the club owners who have been propping us up will receive there out of pocket first and foremost from that new club license fee sale. This would explain the total lack of forthcoming dollars to assemble anything more than something resembling a " replacements " squad this season.
There could not be any other possible explanation given how this seasons squad is shaping up. I asked the question a couple of weeks ago about minimum salary cap spend, In no universe is this years squad valued at two thirds of last seasons. Quite possibly the min spend on a squad is having a blind eye turned just to see out this season.
I think the contract expiries of the squad is a good indicator
Just a shout out that the game tomorrow night is live on 10Play at 7.30pm.
