How bad do Edgeworth look

Azzuri adding Taylor Regan and Rene in the next window are 2 quality additions
Buds 1-2 Jaffas
Buds were good today. Young boys put in the yards and could have got something. Jaffas just a bit better but not what their $$$ is paying for. I thought I saw a bit of tension in the ranks. Could be wrong but didn’t look a happy camp.
That’s a dumb thing to say Jaffas haven’t played in about 4-5 weeks what did you expect a 10-0 thumping
Also they are missing their best player in Michael Kantarovski so give them a few weeks and I think we will see a very different Jaffas
Magic look so good just a side note they will be hard to beat
And MK their best player!!! That's a brave call.
Maitland 5 Cooks Hill 4
Jaffas 1 Weston 1
Was at the Maitland game. They led 5-1 with 25 minutes to play , put the cue in the rack and replaced 3 good players including their best player in James Thompson and almost paid the price as Cooks Hill ran over the top of them and were unlucky not to get a draw. Must admit that I wasn't expecting a 9 goal thriller.
A poor result from Jaffas
Maitland to good for parts of the game. It was clearly audible over BarTv that it was suggested that the Maitland coach had gone to a back three during the second half. The only other coach in the NPL that would try to attempt that ballsy move would be lawsy with his home boy Regan now getting amongst his ranks.
Maitland played with a back three for the entire match Chook. Thomas,McFarland and Blunden. The only change made was when Blunden was replaced by Read during the second half. It looked more like a back five with Cousins playing as a right wing back and some Joel kid playing as left wing back, only looked to be a young kid.
A’town get a point, that’s been coming for a few weeks.
Well done to the young fella’s may you get more.
And 1v1 at Olympic v magic
Olympic 1 Magic 1 entertaining game
Good on Buds. Young players don't deserve a spoon if having a crack. Lakes 6-1. That's 16-1 in 3 games. Buds success on an adolescent shoestring and CH recent results on a caviar budget don't help out at Speers Point. Every year we see the promise of big investment and the new kits with hopes of blah blah blah. Their Coach might be heading back to set up cones at W League or WPL. Not sure how many survive those scores at NPL level.
There are young Jets boys at CH who have suddenly got part time income playing football to finish 7th. Fact. Correct, Lakes and Buds are 0,000s away from CH spend, some of the CH numbers are exaggerated but when it comes from the horses mouth instead of its arse, it rings true. Young lads today are open with what is being paid where. It just seems Buds are doing it better than Lakes and not far off CH.
Pepper has been very poor actually with games watched this year.
he should concentrate on selling his cornflake's , rather than banking on all the chocolates sold from the junior raffles at Cookers.
Unfortunately the real issue and stalemate of progress with newcastle football, is not the ground quality, lack of fences, should we have 8, 10,12 or more teams. It's the continuance of massive money and opportunities thrown at has beens, taking up spots for future young players and their development.
So reading the posts on only 8 teams in NPL, imagine how many spots will be filled by the peppers, cowburns, boogards etc completely defeats the purpose of all the crap discussed about development. Might as well get your kids playing community football again.
don't disagree with you oldy.
however, enforcing the following key rules will no doubt provide a platform to improve the competition in the next few years.
- 12-14 teams 1sts, ressies, youth (include NL, Belswans and possibly Sth Cardiff, along with the existing teams)
- bring up to NPL2 Dudley, Suns, Mayfield and possibly 1 more with existing teams.
- all teams, need to have back yard in order, and after 2nd year of competition -promotion and relegation starts
- reduce player registrations, all to be the same across clubs- and if coach youth teams, or referee it gets cheaper.
- enforce a real player point systems, encourage actual junior club players, any new/old jets, brazilian, over age or other non junior club players will be max points ( this will eliminate massive budget and player movements due to who has the ,most money)
- no grand final, teams finishing 1st and 2nd, to play off in a national champions of champion knockout league, to be crowned number 1
as for youth, happy with the 2 tier, promotion and relegation proposed, but seperate to NPL.
Key is more games, against more opponents, more opportunities, equals more development
just my insignificant thoughts
14 team comp is too big and there’s not enough quality for that. 10 is good for quality but means an 18 game season which is too short. 8 teams is ridiculous and doesn’t favour youth development either.
So I think 12 teams is ideal with relegation for reasons stated in the other post.
Personally I would like to see NNSW get Budgewoi involved. They can afford it and have a gorgeous playing facility. I know they arnt in our federation but would tick the boxes by having 12 teams but not diluting the quality by adding an extra Newcastle team…
Lakes getting ripped a new one, 3 down after 25
