Out of curiosity why we so keen to lock in for 4-6 year deals.
I remember the year 2 deal was for 7 years and hamstrung the developing competition as we locked up TV rights for a long time
also, whats the breakdown on this deal for cash v 'support'. AFL/NRL trumpeted theirs but massive component were free ads so bollocks to the real figure quoted.
also, Dave Gallop looks old. the hell you wanna be in that game for?
moisturiser and no stress, plagues tips for a healthy complexion.
Interesting comments from Simon Hill on the Fox podcast today.
Firstly had a veiled swipe at the expansion plans coming down to a decision of FFA and the broadcasting partner, rather than being a transparent exercise.
Then said all games should be in the cool of the evening, actually stating Newcastle as an example where the 5.00pm kickoff doesn't suit atmosphere or quality football.
Interesting "Stars of the A-League" series on overnight tonight playing classic games from the past which each player dominated.
The Jets have two representatives who get a 90 min special on themselves each - Bridges and Heskey. And Bridges' is his game up here for SFC in 2009!
Other stars are Cahill, ADP, Fowler, Janko, Carlos, Romario, Carbone, Garcia, Villa, Archie, Berisha, Fornaroli, Kewell, Yorke, Shinji, Sorensen, Broich.
Cue Griff flamethrowers.
Mateo Corbo is too good for these pricks
David Villa and Carbone didn't play 10 games between them.
If they picked Romario it'd be the ONLY goal he scored in his short stint, which was against us. If that's the quality they could have also picked one of the greatest bro-mances there has ever been - Jeffers and Jesic
If anyone is interested, Syd vs Newy (ADP vs Heskey) on fox atm
daily telegraph reporting that BBL will go for $800m. not sure how many years, but i'd guess 4 years minimum. so $200m per year.
can't see A-league getting much for the FTA component if that is true, as the advertising dollars will all go to BBL.
A-League is dead.
OK - so the video technology gets brought in for Round 26 (I think we play Mariners then SFC). Fox showed KRJ testing the equipment in Perth the other night.
Thoughts? I admit I am not keen - let's minimise the mistakes by players, coaches and owners before we start harrassing the refs.

optus apparently making some moolah off the EPL rights.
Add me to this. As much as poor decisions cause us great amounts of stress and anger it's part of the beauty of the game. I don't want the complexity introduced by captains challenges, reviews of decisions, penalty calls on slow-mo replay looking for the faintest touch. Our games doesn't lend itself to a natural break in play and to do this would slow the flow and spectacle of the game because it can move on so quickly.
Refs have been ****ing things up dince the first game of football was ever played. It's part and parcel of the game. Besides, it gives us all something to whine about. Video for goal lines only.
If we want video involved use it to punish cheating/acting arse clowns that bluff referees every week with impunity. Charge them with bringing the game into disrepute and issue retrospective yellow cards. There are some players who would very quickly be having a week off without ever getting a card mid game.
The bit that got me, from the weekend, was that the first and third penalty shouts were the exact same thing.
Defender gets ball, then contact.
Funnily though, Andy Harper, one of the blokes clamouring for video review, says the first was a fair call, the other was wrong.
Even after viewing multiple replays he maintained that stance.
With bozos like that crying out for more technology it weakens their case considering they aren't watching the damn thing anyway.
Not one of those decisions on Saturday night would have been overturned by review.
Ive seen it a few times and to me If were going off consistency and what has been awarded already this season then the 3rd one was a penalty every day of the week
third was a clear pen for me, from the angle i've seen.
first I'm not so sure, second definitely not.
And after months and months and months of this being such an important negotiation for Tv rights - 7/9/10 weren't interested and it looks likely to go to ABC.
Yay FFA.
They were interested just not with the FFAs offer and price
The FFA don't want to go back to SBS as there are a couple of strained relationships there
Another example really of how these clowns are shooting this game in the foot really
Meanwhile Facebook, twitter, amazon throwing money at sports rights like they are drunken sailors on shore leave and the FFA can't find their number coz it's not in the yellow pages.
Dopes.

Ten to show A-league games on One. also socceroos matches. 5 finals also.
starts this coming season, 7:30pm saturday game to be shown, only an additional $2m.
so i think this would be up against the big bash on the same channel. can't see them giving it much exposure.
yeah, understand that, just wondering how much effort they'll put into it - do i advertise a contest that could end at 0-0 with limited opportunity for ads, or do i advertise the show that guarantees fireworks and an ad every 2 minutes?
Getting more exposure than on the arse end of viewing like SBS and C7
I don't see though what the fascination is with trying to convert dumb ****s to the sport
Let's just focus on our own shit and see what happens instead of catering towards ****s who quite frankly couldn't give a **** about wog ball
Does this mean the FTA Friday games are gone ?
How is it better than SBS? 1 game and a channel that noone will find
