You and I disagree on the definition of 'playing well'. IMO he is the worst player on the pitch pretty much most weeks.

The bloke is honkin'. Works hard.. But still honkin'
You aren't watching the game closely then.
Alivodic seems to either deliver diamonds or turds. Some games the balance shifts either way but his diamonds are superb and not many can produce it.
Watch the City game again. Alivodic's defence splitting pass to Nobby in the 2nd goal was sublime, better than Nobby's assist pass.
No way in hell for Leonardo wide..... We go straight back to Devon head type defending.... Leave him at 10.
Thats cool. Leonardo seems to have the best chemistry with him. He is the only player we have who knows how to make an attacking run and can at times have a great touch. I'll concede that sometimes he stuffs up simple passes and dribbles but he does his job better than the alternatives. Someone already commented on it, but his pass to release Morty was superb, as was Morty's assist.
Issue is I feel that using an import spot on Enver is where I don't feel he cuts it. You gotta judge imports on a different curve then you do Aussies, and for me Enver doesn't do enough to justify being one of five imports. Same reason I'd say Poljak needs to go, it's an import spot and our imports need to be some of the better players on the pitch. Milos has 8 goals, Leo is a great player if he stays healthy and gets match fit which looks to be happening and so far Nobby is looking the goods. Replace Poljak for another centre mid and use the other foreign spot on a LB and then sign an aussie winger
I agree that imports need to be a lot better than the locals, and I think Alivodic is not offering a lot when considered as an import, but this thinking should only apply when signing/re-signing. Once they're here and signed, and we're stuck with them for a season, I don't think the curve applies anymore. They only need to be marginally better than the other options to get the starting spot. At this point, Alivodic is still a marginally better option than what we have on the bench. Unless he has an amazing 9(?) games to round out the season, I can't see his stay in Newy continuing.
Well you made a solid point and then ruined it straight away. Leonardo can't last 90 minutes and turned the ball over more than anyone else, including Cowburn. If anyone was honking on the weekend it was Leo. He even threw a patty when he got substituted?? Enver was involved in both goals we scored and did more defensive work. I'm not saying that Leo shouldn't be resigned next year because i really like him but if you are grading our players on their productivity then Enver deserves it more than Leo.
Poljak is a defensive midfielder and it's very easy to miss all the good things he does for this team. If we don't have Poljak you are stuck with either Watson who can't pass or defend, Kanta who can't pass and fouls even more than Poljak or Cowburn who isn't ready to sit deep and hold his position well enough yet. Cowburn could be a very good option next year beside Urga. But the other two aren't good enough defensively and pass about as well as Poljak. If Leo can stay fit and the other 3 stay next year then by all means look for a stronger player. Until then just watch what he does off the ball and write it down to show Kanta how to be a more useful member of a midfield partnership. I don't think Watson is smart enough to read so just give him some crayons or something.
Cooper has had one good game this season. He is fighting with a player we plucked from the VPL and that everyone has slagged off pretty hard since he arrived and not comfortably winning. He has a long way to go before he earns a starting spot. I was so looking forward to seeing him have a breakout year as well, i'm so disappointed in him this year. Fingers crossed tho that he turns this weekends performance into a run of quality games for the rest of the year and locks down that left wing spot.
Mullen sucked
Cowburn was average
Leo didn't suck
Mortyyyyy :lulzturtle:
Leo does lose the ball often, but his skill and ability to beat players is incredible. I'm willing to give Leo the rest of the season now that his match fitness is back up to prove himself, where as Enver has played nearly every minute of the season and rarely impressed. Now, regardless of if I feel he should be in the starting, I know he will be and im willing to give him the chance to impress.
Of the options we have Poljak is realistically better, but Id like to see how Kanta goes next to Uga cause it could be the match.
Id say Coops hasn't had enough chances to prove himself this season though. Last season he looked like he earned the starting spot, and since then he's had no chance. Same thing has been said on the podcast many times, but hook anyone in the mids in that city game, it wasn't just Coops who was playing shit. Since then he's had a few runs off the bench, and looked good as well as playing damn well against City. If we lose this season definitevly, and we're not resigning Enver then play someone else cause why not get someone some football who will be here next year
Yeah, i understand your point. But i don't see any reason why Enver should be let go and either way the left wing is open for Cooper/Kitto to fight for. Morty looks like he will play through the middle. Either up top or in behind instead of Leo..
Of our imports i honestly don't see Leo staying and unless we shower Milos with love i can see him moving on as well, going off their respective CVs that is. I'd be happy if they stay tho.
Poljak is so underrated

Well, that frees something up, doesn't it?
I watched him all Yth League season, and he was never going to crack the A-League. Just never stepped up as a contracted player.
Brennan hardly played this season. Ppl are screaming on fb etc to play him, but even late in the yth season when he did play, you could see he was till nowhere near match fit.
Glad we cut Themba.
