Pepper leaving is probably a godsend, that now leaves Kanta, Cooper and Barresi as our midfielders. Finding a high quality central midfielder should be our highest priority now. James Holland is now without a club so he should be targeted even as a possible Aussie marquee.
Last I read his contract was up but Villa are allowing him to stay to complete his rehabilitation and allow Sherwood and opportunity to view him with the potential of a new contact.
I think we need to aim a bit higher than Carle (wh hasn't played for almost a year). Murdocca, La Rocca (who would take up a Visa spot) and Kalmaar too. The others on your list appear to be a decent level.

Interesting, considering i dont rate him
Not a big fan either but I wish Jimmy good luck. Still think Gary should get a gig within either the youth squad or at least a technical director role. Blokes being wasted in his current position... Yes, I am serious.
Pascoes top priorities IMO is to get cowburn on a senior deal, and throw money at dimitrejevic
Just to clear up the confusion that a lot of people have on facebook and possibly on this forum. Pascoe is not interim coach. He is just doing admin stuff under the title Football Operations Manager that Nic Deluca did before he left for family reasons - "The former Hunter Sports High Director of Sport and FFA A-License coach will assist with the planning and development of the team’s pre-season campaign, player recruitment, and Hyundai A-League compliance matters."
From what I am aware of the football operations manager is not like a European style director of footballer that buys who they want. They just are the person who negotiates with players and agents. From what was in place at the club when Nic Deluca was operations manager was that the coach identified who he wanted and Nic did negotiations. I think there is little chance we will sign anyone until the coach is announced unless the coach to be has already stated their approval
We were supposed to have the former COO of football QLD Ben Mannion appointed as the replacement Football Operations Manager but when I quizzed the Jets about it on twitter they said Ben was appointed by HSG and wasn't brought over to the new entity. I assume that's because he hadn't actually started, and one or both of the parties decided to walk away.
This is a precursor to a coach being appointed I believe because we need to get the ball rolling immediately on recruitment as soon as a coach is announced and we need someone to get the deals sorted once he identifies who he wants. With everything going on at the club, it's probably too much to expect Murphy to deal with that along with everything else as well. I would hope a coach will be announced in the next 7 days.
What I don't like the sound of is this token 'strong novocastrian spirit' **** that best bloke for the job gets the gig, no leg ups just cause your a local, sure if the people are comparable promote the local but this idea that a club must be staffed by locals to have a connection is just silly.

Something that is becoming worrying is our options at right back.
Nev is gone.
People think Mullen can play there, which he isn't suited to and his spell in the hal at wsw there proved it.
Rumours we're looking at Hoffman to play there!
Sign Cowburn to a senior contract, or somehow convince Risdon to leave Perth, or I'm worried.
Barry Toohey has broken down the dire Salary Cap situation we are in.
Salary Cap of 2.6 million
Current 13 players are taking up about 1.8 Million leaving around 800k to play with.
Carney = 240k
Boogard = 230k
Ki Jee = 200k
Birighitti = 180k
Kennedy = 130k +
Kantarovski = 130k +
Mullen = 130k +
Alivodic = 130k +
Cooper = 90k
Barresi = 55k - 90k
Pavicevic = 55k - 90k
Brennan = 55k - 90k
Marlow = 55k - 90k
Where'd he get these figures?
Pretty sure last I heard bk was closer to 70-80
From my limited knowledge of the situation, he isn't far off the money (pardon the pun).
I had been assuming approximately 700k left in the salary cap.
While ever the FFA retain control of the club, we can forget about any marquees.
Hence links with Hoffman and the like are about all we can expect
Not to mention that we were closer to 80% spend of the salary cap and that was while griff, madaschi, jaliens, celeski were still here..
Can't really see how all those numbers stack up tbh.
Plus there is no more Neville who would be demanding closer to 120k one would think.
The kanta and bk figures would be the baffling ones, even taking into consideration rises in wages over the years the increments wouldn't add up to those figures.
I am calling horse dung.
Let's be realistic. The FFA pays the salary cap anyway so no problem there. They will try to get nearly a full squad under that cap. This is also where Griff's offer to play for nothing should be investigated.
As for the marquees, if the FFA is confident of getting an ownership transfer within the next couple of months, then they will leave those decisions for them. They won't buy marquees and hand over the bill to the new ownership. The repair job will take a little time.
And I doubt those posted figured as I know BK actually took a reduction on his last deal to stay in Newcastle because of his mothers illness. Closer to 100 rather than 130.
If that is what we are playing our under performing players then what are Victory et al playing their performing teams and how do they stay below the cap?
So you guys put all your faith in figures produced by a journalist from the "official newspaper of the Newcastle Knights"?
Let's just see what players we sign in the next 6 weeks and make up our minds then.
