No you are right. Don't know what I was thinking with 23.
That being the case, the 6 remaining players to be recruited will be
3 x Visa players
3 x u20 players (one which must be a goalkeeper)

Except knowing someone's wage isn't anyone's business.
These people are idiots.
So this is FFA's answer to being more "transparent", disclosing A League contracted player's wages.
Hope the players with the PFA kick up a stink about this, really what right have FFA to publicly disclose what players are earning?
agreed. how does knowing their wage increase transparency? surely the only person concerned about transparency should be the FFA (in this regard).
and if they want to do it, why not publish the aggregated wages of the squad as a single amount per club? that way no individual player is identified.
I don't normally get on the privacy wagon, but this just seems like a gross invasion of privacy.
I can see a stronger argument for publishing the salaries of the FFA senior execs.
Can see the logic behind this but then again when Heskey was on $700k plus as reported in the media, I don't recall fans "getting on his back"...sure he didn't play like a "busted arse" but he sure as hell wasn't worth $700k.
Fans are fickle and play favourites, can just see an "unpopular" player being targeted or made a scapegoat if he is reportedly on a decent wage and underperforming. Disclose what each squad has spent and Marquees (which usually are anyway) but not each individual.
But that appears to be more from an American driven desire to have that information available. The NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL do it so it's something that is accepted in that country's sporting competitions.
The FFA reason for pursuing this (a number of salary cap scandals in Australian Sport) seems convenient to me. If player contracts are submitted to the FFA anyway, how will publicising the wages of the teams decrease the likelihood that a club won't cheat the salary cap? Would doing this have assisted auditors to identify or even prevent the Perth Glory salary cap breach in the season before last?
I struggle to accept this. There's something else at play.
FFA just want the fans to do their jobs. With all the nerdz out there who will do da maths and shit it will save the hassle
Its so we can get it out in the open that Perf are WAY over the cap next year.
I look forward to telling our rubbish blokes that they are on a shit salary and don't deserve it, also that their career will be over by the time they're 35 and they'll be down at Centrelink
also, it's hilarious when you find out how much other teams pay for their shitcunce — remember how much we all laughed when Zdonkey was revealed to be on $200k?
It just a degree of transparency and getting on the front foot to show the public they have their house in order.
The current situation leaves fans scratching their heads as they don't know.
By giving the info to the public it gives the fans cinfidence all is above board and then puts the onus squarely on the clubs to comply.
Look at the shitfight at Parramatta in the NRL. The club and it's management are culpable. Just as the Storm were when they had their problem.
By putting it squarely out in the public domain there is no ifs or buts about it if the club cheats.
At the moment it is a grey area as many other clubs are suspected of doing it and getting away with it.
So there is an element of sympathy to the club and blame to the governing body for not uncovering other issues.
This transparency way basically washes the FFAs hands of it and allows them to wash their hands of any responsibility for it and forces the blame 100% on the club.
It also means the clubs are going to have to legitimately try to rort it. So when they do the book can be thrown at them
See this sort of a childish attitude of a response is why I'm against it....targeting and singling out individual players.
Miller prefered Birraz over BK this season, so what. Towards the end of the season Vukovic (probably the highest paid keeper in the HAL) fell out of favour and was on the bench.
Players lose form whether it's injury related or personal issues. So we get on their backs because we think they aren't worthy of their salary?
i mean ill go to the wall for you but seriously this is some next level silly shit.
you realise the governing body has a copy of all contracts for players. the rorts are going on outside the contracts lodged.
so 'the public' (in their ever growing need to feel included) will see the exact same contracts.
so if there is cheating no one at FFA HQ, or you out there with your casio calculator is gonna pick up it with the info on the lodged contract.
what players get is none of the fans business. you want that info, how bout we post their sexual orientation too? or if they are having an affair with someone?
what else you wanna know about someone that aint got shit to do with you? maybe all players need to do a Q and A with the 'fans' before they sign just to make sure we are ok with them coming to wear our precious shirt.
fans are the ****ing worst people.
get over yourselves.

I know I'm going off a tangent here but it is indirectly related to the issue in the way sportsmen are increasingly being exposed by the powers that be.
Same as cameras in change rooms, do we need to see what is going on before the game or at half-time in the dressing sheds?
The change rooms should be a sporsman's sanctuary, pretty sure in Europe and South America they don't allow this sort of shite.
Also, in this day and age of equality why aren't cameras allowed in female sporting teams change rooms?
What if the clubs lie about how they're paying?
What, they'll lie to the FFA but post the real figures 'for the fans'?
All of the aforementioned breaches of salary caps across those other codes were all brought to light because of whistle blowers.
Not through the governance of the relevant association and certainly not from a bunch of spotty teenagers with their Mulder and Scully detective kit.
So as for your issues with intrusion into players private life's well this to me is a separate issue.
What is the crux of this issue is the governing body the FFA are trying to be proactive and show their comp is above board with the salary cap
Compared to drugby league they are actually not walking around with their head in the sand.
Now Rugby League have obviously had Bulldogs Storm and Eels involved in massive salary cap issues.
They are still walking around clueless trying to deal with it.
FFA have only had the Glory fiasco to deal with
The Eels issue has sounding warning bells at FFA HQ and kudos to them they are prepared to act
Yeah you right the dodgy shit with paper bags twin contracts etc is the bit that will still go on. But by exposing the player payments publically eliminates any claims of the club they are not responsible for shonky shit as if a Storm Glory Eels or Bulldogs situation was to happen again then the public and FFA will know full well they were attempting to cheat and got caught fair and square
This is all it is.
Front foot initiative to be transparent publically by the FFA to cover the game from needless scandal.
It is basically showing the world what is going on and everything is in order
If scandal comes then the club responsible has the blame directed squarely at them
Take the Eels situation the publicity has damaged the integrity of the NRL in the eyes of the fans media and sponsors.
Everyone associated with it pays the price. Not just the Eels players fans and Management.
Everyone
The FFA are on the front foot here and need to be applauded for their bold action
As for the players wages being exposed publicly. Well once the thing is done once it won't be an ongoing issue anyway.
The US athletes don't give a **** after years of it going on.
As for the Aussie players after the PFA exploiting the game for years with excessive unsustainable wages I will have no sympathy for them losing this battle.
Mind you they FFA won't be getting away with this idea easily. The PFA will make one of the best sing and dances about it you will ever see when the FFA try publically listing player wages
I don't know what all the fuss is about.
It is just a Public relations exercise by the FFA.
They are "trying to be transparent" without doing anything, after all its the clubs that are doing all the work here. What exactly is the FFA doing??
Those that cheat the system, dare I say it, are a lot smarter than MFKS, or as someone said (I think Plague- someone with a detector kit) publishing or not publishing are not going to stop the cheating/cheaters.
MLS publish salaries- they do so as a marketing tool - not as a cheating/catching tool.
There are as all things in life advantages and disadvantages of publishing the wages of players. I would like to listen to both of the before making my mind up.
I thought we were all aware no one is smarter than me,??

Free entry into F3 derby games for all Jets members next season, literally one step away from being taken over and converted into unemployed scum.. ffs.
Agree, it's a good thing. Certainly a move to encourage more families to head down. IF we can get more people there it will commence the process of rebuilding the perception of the derby to the heights it was years ago.
Being facetious, I could say there is access to our 13th match as a member next year.
So is this thing reciprocal??
Gypos get free entry here. We get free entry there??
If so great idea.
Be even better if away fans travelling interstate were given free entry too.
If you can make the effort to get on a plane to a game then getting free entry be some compensation for your efforts
A-League website has an article in which Miller says we will announce the signing of a midfielder in the next 3-4 days
Also Zullo signed with Sydney. A decent Aussie LB option we missed out on in my opinion
