The funniest part in all this is that we are now stuck with the shit Petratos
Honestly why are we even surprised. Sums up whats it like supporting the Jets post 2008
So with Petratos gone who is off contract in the A league that we could get who is at a similar or higher level then Dimi?
So he has maybe ~10-20 games left to play for Roar, vs 2-3 seasons with the jets....
But Roar are the ones that get to OK the transfer? Did Jets have any say?
I hope the transfer fee split reflects the x games commitment at roar vs the 2-3 seasons commitment he made to Jets.
So our recruitment record under the esteemed leadership of Lawrie McKinna and Mark Jones is
- Offer a contract to Tom Glover and Ante Covic as an injury replacement........and we get rejected
- Sign an injury replacement.........and the FFA has to tell us he is ineligible and must wait until the transfer window
- Offer another contract to Ante Covic..........and we get rejected again
- Ring every local goal keeper in town until one answers the phone to board a plane that evening, so to avoid fielding a 15 year old keeper
- Sign an 18 year old injury replacement from the NYL, albeit has worked out ok
- Offer a 31 year old a 2 & 1/2 year deal on rumoured to be 300-400k a season.......only for the 31 year old to break down
- In an effort to sign anyone half decent, we offer 3 year terms and employ the equivalent of George Weah's cousin to seal the deal, just to have him walk out on the deal leaving us with George Weah's cousin.
Hope I haven't missed anyone.
Would seriously like to know what good things that Lawrie has supposedly done in his time at the helm other than his trump esq twitter engagment
So let's just get a couple of things straight here.
The coach other than research and telling the club whom he wants signed or let go is responsible for this how??
Jones says I want player x
It then up to club to get the deal across the line
Hey bag the Gypo out all you like he more than fair game here.
But if Jones is up to his nuts responsible for the signing of players and is at fault here for these run of outs as you put it.
Then may is suggest the Gypo is to blame for not getting Jones out of this role at the club
Maybe he would be better pressed at this point in time in actually teaching our mid field to do their job better so our back 4 are not so much under the pump
If you read a bit more closely, you can see I am directly blaming Mckinna for not signing the players. But the coach and his actions are a large part of why a player would or would not sign for a club.
I don't see players lining up to play under Jones. You only have to look at how he was slammed in the press over the weekend for his unprofessional public comments about Kokko. That doesn't go unnoticed by the players or their managers.
