NBN, no audio, but report said Arroyo has done a hammy and could be out for a month, Shep is a chance to return (they considered that a positive so I assume they didn't watch him in pre-season), and McGree is supposed to out - we really will need a miracle now not to get torn a new one by the Barrel Boys...

Hoff has re-signed until the end of the 21/22 season.
Has there been an update on wesi lately that i have missed or does his progress remain top secret away from the supporters ?.
Be nice for a update Laurie !!!!!!!!!.
NBN tonight

With no news from the club on Wesi and a lot put on Dimi shoulders in the creative dept and without being all over the new rules re transfers now and Jan fast approaching is it worth sounding out Caceres. Getting bugger all game time at Sydney and could take some of the load off Dimi.
See i don't hate all Gypo's Jetkel just those like Fitzuseless who after 3 dozen clubs in the league have no ability at all, Which in truth is 99.9% of them.
A) why would he take a huge paycut to come here and fight for 7th? We can't afford his current wages and he probably doesn't deserve them anyway.
B) we have enough Gypo trash here. Just sign Hutcho and put us out of our misery.
C) if we really wanted to improve our on field performance, we need to be investing in the right areas.... Jets Shaped Hats!!!!
NBN review of the game, possibility Arroyo may be out for two months

The Newcastle Jets’ goal-scoring woes continued in Adelaide last night, with the visitors beaten 2-1 by the Reds, despite producing almost three times as many shots.
To make matters worse, striker Arroyo’s hamstring injury could keep him sidelined for up to eight weeks.

A-League: Jets look at loan deal in bid to spark attack

THE Newcastle Jets will explore signing a striker on loan from a rival A-League club during the transfer window in a bid to end the club's goal-scoring woes.
A hamstring injury to Abdiel Arroyo, which will sideline the Panamanian for up to two months, has further depleted the Jets' already thin attacking stocks.
Former Ireland international Wes Hoolahan (ankle) is at least a month away from a return. Kaine Sheppard played 10 minutes in the 2-1 loss to Adelaide on Sunday in his first game back from a three-month lay-off and was clearly underdone.
The Jets created enough gilt-edge chances against Adelaide to win three games, but lacked a cutting edge.
It has been the story of their campaign, which has yielded eight goals in seven games and incredibly only four from open play.
"We have done more than enough to wins games but we just don't finish things off," a frustrated Merrick said after the Jets fired 31 shots to Adelaide's 13 at Coopers Stadium on Sunday night.
"To be perfectly honest we just need a goal-scorer, a finisher during open play."
McKinna said the Jets have funds, which had been set aside for a possible return by Joey Champness, and would look at all options in January.
"It is about getting somebody who can come in and be up to the level," McKinna said.
"Maybe, we will look at a loan player - a young player from another club. We will look at that and present who is available to Ernie. There will be a few but they won't be household names. They will be fringe players but they have to be better than we have available in the youth team."
The A-League opened the door last season for clubs to loan players from their rivals.
Danny De Silva spent the season at Sydney FC before returning to the Mariners this campaign.
"You never know, there might be someone in the January window who pops up," Merrrick said.
"We do a lot of work on the front third, on our passing and creating goal-scoring opportunities. The boys are all doing that well. It's just the final touch. We are doing a lot of things right. It's seven games for us into 26 rounds and then finals. We are on track to be a very good team but we need to start finishing in open play and scoring goals."
Champness, who gave up a two-year contract extension to pursue a rap career in the US, has been back in Australia but at this point is still focused on music.
Teenager Angus Thurgate has scored two goals in three games as a makeshift striker and along with Nick Fitzgerald, Dimi Petratos and Hoffman had a raft of chances against the Reds.
Thurgate had a shot blocked on the line, Fitzgerald hit the woodwork as did Steven Ugarkovic.
"We have players in the right position, we get shots off, sometimes the opposition keeper wins man of the match ... we are doing a lot of things right."
Adelaide coach Gertjan Verbeek, though happy with the result, said the Reds had "stolen" three points.
Former Socceroo James Troisi produced a flash of brilliance to score the decisive goal with seven minutes.
"James Troisi popped up at the right time," Merrick said.
"That is the difference. That has been the difference in five games for us. We have won two, drawn two and lost three.
"We hit the bar twice... it was one of those games but we seem to keep doing it."
Actually a few of the above points may have arisen from Ernie's presser:

Ernie states we don't have funds to bring anyone in, so I assume Lawrie's comments we may have relate to that.
Bless this team.Quote:

So there is absolutely no one, not one single player in the youth set up that can come in and change things up front?
there are no strikers in the youth team at all? none? not one? not one that can give us one half of football to at least see what we've got?
i mean, we are desperate, we have no cash, and the only option are other shit teams players who are too shit to get a start for another shit team.
Wonder how many royboy would of banged in by now if Lord gypo knew what he was doing 🤔
Can just see it now my second worst nightmare. Wasn't Blackwood being shopped around just recently by Adelaide ?.
We could do a lot worse than to give Thomas James from the Wolves an opportunity at this level as opposed to somebody who has had ample opportunity to cement there position at this level but failed. We already got one of those.
His second half goal was nice.

Where is the money coming from ? From what Ernie has said we have absolutely nothing to spend for the rest of the season - and by nothing I mean we couldn't outbid NBN League teams let alone local NPL teams for a players services.
Alternatively how about 100 of us here throw in $10k each and we gift someone to the club for a season ?
But nobody will because when it's there money they soon realise it's a poor investment.
BTW, Members Day is scheduled for this Friday:

Ernie saying in the herald that their only option for new signing will be a loan player from another A-league club come January.
Is there really anyone out there that is worth looking at from another club not getting time. You would think it has to be a younger guy.
Nothing springs to my mind to be honest so i assume we will just keep as we are and not score goals.
I think the team we currently have is performing better than would be expected given our budget.
I don't think anyone else could do a better job than Ernie.
I don't think anyone here could do a better job than Ernie and his team are currently doing.
I don't need to see my team win every week - I just want to be entertained and in that department I think the team is doing just that.
If we converted our chances at the rate many here expected we'd be top of the league on one of the lowest budgets.
Fan expectations here are simply ridiculous.
To be fair, Ernie admitted in the Jerkstream podcast preseason interview with phernz that him and the squad had a collective goal of top 4 and didn't see it unreasonable, even given the lower funds available. I believe Ernie even said this is the best squad he has had since coming to the club, too. So they had the excuses and cop outs available but set their own high standard themselves, it isn't just the fans.
Where is the money coming from ?. Didn't our Gypo CEO say there was money available for a " not a household name " from another club from funds set aside in the event there was to be of a return of Joey that could be used ?. Based on those comments i am not sure why you asked that ?. Are Bert and our Gypo CEO giving us conflicting messages.
Thomas James was running around for the Wollongong Wolves so without speaking for what he may be earning on civvy street in his usual day job i would think it is a reasonably safe bet the Wolves are not paying him more than what Joeys deal was worth here in the A League.
If Ernie has said no money and our Gypo CEO has said there is albeit a very conservative amount then is clear there are comm issues at HQ eh ?.
Ernie said we could afford around $3.50 or less - to a Scotsman that's probably a lot of money.
Thomas James is nowhere near as good as Joey C - He's more than likely not as good as Kosta Petratos.
I mean he's on the same managers books as Brandon Lundy and Joey Gibbs ffs - they hardly set the league alight.
You need only look at all the other NPL to A-league failures to realise it's a high risk bet with pretty much zero chance of paying off.
We should be patient - the current squad have enough depth for us to bypass throwing money at NPL players - unless they are exceptional - not merely doing well in an inferior league.
Without listening back to the pod again, my memory says Wessi was injured at that time and he acknowledged that. Arroyo would not have been though. But Ernie when planning his squad, goals, etc surely would not have been daft enough to assume he could have went thru the season injury-free, so again I feel it fair to conclude it isn't just fan expectations for a top 4-6 finish.
When you are discussing reasons why to/not to bring players into the squad - aim your sights at Bobby Burns. In Lawrie's words the kid "expires in the heat" and I'm still figuring out why he was brought into an Australian Summer sport.
Fair enough - I tend to think we are good enough to beat anyone other than Sydney FC more times than not with a little luck / fortune rolling our way.
The Bobby Burns thing could have gone either way. Some do better in the heat than the cold others don't. We found out Burns is in the "don't" camp.
Once you have been on the planet for as long as I have you soon realise that people rarely say what they mean - and usually never if they are being recorded.
I know I don't.
