Great concept if it is a annual game.
Pearce, Pepper and Cowburn. I think should not be selected as they had a chance and failed to take it.
Most A-league coaches obviously feel they are not at that level or they would still be there

Jaffas 0 Azzurri 0
Magic 1 Cooks Hill 0 (90th min pen)
Maitland 3 Edgeworth 1
Next week's final round games and still plenty to play for.
Maitland (39) play Jaffas (38). Maitland win they are premiers. Jaffas win, then Magic (38), if they beat Lakes, can finish 1st on equal points with Jaffas but currently have a 1 goal better for/against. If Jaffas and Maitland draw, then Magic can still jump both with their own victory.
Azzurri (34) and a bye next week seem to have wrapped up 4th spot unless Olympic can beat Weston by 4 or more goals. If Olympic (31) win they should be assured of at least a fifth place finals berth with Valentine (31) needing to beat Edgeworth (29) by a massive 15+ goals to jump Olympic. If Valentine and Edgy draw, Valo can still go through if Olympic lose. Edgeworth will need to win their game and hope Olympic loses to get through. If Olympic draw their game they will be safe in top 5 if Valo Edgy draw or Edgy wins (unless Edgy win by 14+ goals).
Lakes (7) will need to beat Magic to avoid wooden spoon and hope that Adamstown (8) don't beat Cookers.
Could be one of the best final rounds of football for a while. Certainly beats last years covid depleted season.
Newcastle Jets 15
Coffs Harbour Allstars 0
Surely a game against Npl nnsw rep team makes more sense than this ?
First grade fixture was always a bit tighter from memory.
NNSW Youth select often beat the Jets Youth team.
Think it’s a great initiative and something that hopefully could be used to promote eachother. Play it prior to finals, $25 ticket gives you access to the exhibition, an NPL fixture of your choice (work out some arrangement so the club gets the admission $$) and a Jets Opening game ticket. Or something to that extent.
You will obviously have the issue of clubs not wanting their players to get injured etc but I think it could work well. Good opportunity for players too.
When was the last time Edgeworth missed out on the finals in first grade
Is it too early to declare a winner for this season? Well I am about to declare one anyway. The best canteen item from any NPL club goes to Lake Macquarie City for their City Burger. I am keen to know what other people think. Please don’t discount my choice until you have tried one (and no, I am not part of that club).
I've heard it is very tasty. I'm yet to try it though. Always loved a burg at Olympic
Weekend predictions?
Jaffas 1 - 1 Maitland
Lakes 0 - 2 Magic (Magic win the title)
Olympic 2 - 2 Weston
Edgeworth 3 - 2 Valentine
Cooks Hill 1 - 2 Adamstown
Both the title and the wooden spoon could be decided this weekend.
What happens if we get a washout?
Imagine the extra interest if there was relegation on the line?
Athfield on.
Cooks v Buds:
1st - 3-0
Res - 4-2
18s - 4-1
Congratulations to Maitland winning the MP, great effort heard through today that Charlestown & Graham Law have parted ways ! Not surprised considering the players he had a disappointing finish for Azzurri
I agree with your comment, but I don't think it is as easy as it appears.
There are only so many coaches around that have credentials. Then there are only so many that have the time to coach at the NPL level. Other filters make the pool smaller again.
How do you think we should blood new coaches?
The coach has to be qualified and competent to be up for selection as the minimum requirement.
I don't know for sure. But I don't think there are many coaches available to coach at the 1st grade NPL level when you factor in the potential filters.
We need to improve the coaching pathway in terms of ease to meet the minimum requirements and quality.
What are possible solutions?
Just watching the games on BarTV and Edgie's pitch looks in pretty good order.
Massive congratulations to Maitland on sealing the minor premiership yesterday.
It would have to be a decade since Edgeworth have missed out on finals football. Any truth to the head coach’s job being under review?
Law parting ways with Charlestown is interesting. I wonder if he will focus on the juniors now.
What do we think is next for Graham
Maitland already looking to go back to back next season with signing Rhys Cooper, Tom Davies and Sam Webb
Pretty sure a blind man could see Graham's head was on the chopping block, I've heard a fair few of the snr players were very unhappy with Graham. Can't say I'm shocked no easy task handling players like Boogaard & Regan.
Finals time!!!
What are your predictions?
Magic 1 - 3 Lambton
Azzurri 3 - 1 Olympic
Reagan to Edgeworth
