I don't know where you live, but I don't see any LGBTQI stuff coming from Labour. Do you remember who was in power when the same sex marriage vote occurred? I think you are confusing the media with Labour.
No points there buddy. Try again.

Nice name calling. Did your mum proof read this for you.
I'm not outraged, it was pretty easy to see the Liberals would win. My point isn't even over the top.
We are going to sit on our hands for the next few years and hope that problems fix themselves. Conservative rather than progressive.
Don't act like the current government isn't due for any criticism. And maybe don't act like the only reason they got back into power was because the right is strong and the left is weak. There are plenty of snowflakes in the right wing. Just watch how quickly they go from facts to name calling online.....
Please don't act like I don't know why those people/brexit got voted in. Just because I disagree with you doesn't mean I don't understand why it happened.
Plus, all of this right wing swing will be over once the baby boomers die off. Then you can really complain about the lefty lunatics.
Its been amazing how the twitterverse (who actually dont matter) has responded to this election, especially toward Queensland.
the holier than thou attitude has been hilarious.
because these same voters that everyone called rednecks and morons etc actually recently voted in a state Labor govt, they voted for SSM and (may be incorrect here but did hear it) they have voted more Labor govts in federally than Liberal over time.
but yet 'they' are the idiots for turning their back on Shorten.
the sooner everyone just admits Shorten was possibly the worst candidate for PM this country has ever seen and they blew an unlosable election the easier it will be for them to knock off the Libs next time.
but year, keep blaming the voting public, that 'always' works.
yeah im not sure anyone can hook their wagon on to this theory anymore.
Labor/Shorten went after a whole new generation of voters this election. The pissed in a new pond and im not sure they will be able to clean it up in a short space of time.
the wins the Libs had were in 'working class' areas, the ones they lost were actually the affluent suburbs. the Libs base is back to the 'Howards battlers', and thats a huge number. Shorten went after them, when he didnt have to .
heck, if you want the best indicator, look at Fitzgibbon in Hunter. Bloke had no competition yet effectively campaigned against the interests of his own constituents and they countered with a huge middle finger to the bloke. He'll keep the seat but holy hell if they dont learn from that one then they are destined for irrelevance for a long long time.
everyone wants to be a landlord, baby
or a cop
anyway, winning the election is the easy bit for big scozzler.
does anyone actually know what his platform is other than not doing what the other guy said he would?
apart from the tax cut i legit have no idea what the policies are.
looking increasingly harder to blame a labor government that's been out of power for 2 terms
They ain't leading with it but the same crack pots who support these ideas are front n centre of the ALP
Wong Pilbersek etc
If they believe enough to try and run some of that BS they did to get elected with electric cars renewable and climate change BS one can only imagine the tripe they would come up with when they are in power
Saturday was a great day as the Aussie people dodged a ****ing bullet of LW insanity being inflicted on the nation thanks to these clowns
Good thing is they won't be getting re elected for another couple of elections either
i think his election pitch was about keeping things how they are at the moment, and if you like where we are at, then vote for us, but if you dont like where you are, then vote for that guy and do it his way.
then everyone kind of looked at Shortens policies (which were quite different) and were like, "yeah nah we cool".
the only area where people seemed confused on is climate change. neither team had an actual policy, just 'targets'. they provided no real roadmap on how they were gonna tackle the issue itself and both seemed 'pretty' similar (no nukes, move to renewables) and everyone knew Shorten was going to go ahead with Adani.
the lack of clear 'how' was a big problem to a lot of people. Shortens idea of 'just vote for us and we'll tell you later' didnt seem to work ,and Scomo just didnt seem to care to explain.
Then for Bob Brown to get involved. Whoo boy, if im Shorten first punch in the nose goes to that bloke. What a dill.
Wong doesnt support gay marriage, Wong supports keeping her senate ticket regardless of the cost to her rep.
also, just an aside, why on Griffs green earth would anyone consider being called a 'warrior' for social justice as an insult? believing in better outcomes for sections of society that are discriminated against should be a good thing yeah?
i dunno, the fact they went after super, capital gains tax, negative gearing and estate taxes in the one hit showed exactly who they were after, and a lot of those people arent 'rich'. they've done well, but they aint rich. it was an interesting fight to pick, and an unnecessary one at that.
this is an interesting way to describe it. what tripe are you talking about specifically?
because i thought this was the least cringeworthy slogan type election for ages.
and sure we can talk about being a bit alarmist, but legit, neither side can claim to be innocent there. for every "Bills gonna rob ya super" theres a "Scomo gonna rob your penalty rates" reaction.
i think people voted for what mattered to them over the perceived 'good of the country/planet'. and i dont think thats at all an unfair approach. because a lot of the 'for the good of the country/planet' type folks who yell the loudest, are also the most hypocritical. and y'all wanna have your ducks in a row before telling 'ME' what I 'NEED' to do.
i was more focusing on the safe-schools, LGBTIQ stuff that always seems to get rolled out when one talks about "left politics" in australia, which i really don't think makes up much of the platform.
anyway - there's a good article in the SMH looking at how victorian labor who led the campaign tried to run with a victorian platform that just doesn't resonate with the rest of the country. nsw right reportedly furious with how the campaign went and looking back you can see why.
the focus is on QLD but NSW severely underperformed here, western sydney demo has changed massively and is probably more right wing than ever, and won't change in a hurry
yeah look i personally think that stuff as an election issue is so far down the line it would be lucky to swing a handful of voters.
its just your AM radio talkback hosts like the good Member who bring it up.
As for western sydney, these people out there now own million dollar houses, they work good jobs and have small businesses. They might have an investment property, and they are def relying on their super to fund their post work lives.
They should be Labor to their bootstraps, but Shorten gave them no reason to vote for him. Those issues i wrote earlier were aimed directly at those types of people and they bit back.
Why would you want to be known as a social justice warrior anyway??
Having 72 genders ain't really helping anyone is it ??
It worked quite well when we has men women and crazy
Now people are walking around on egg shells perverts are in women's bathrooms and women getting the **** beat out of them in women's sport
Yep this is real ****ing progress
Because the ALP has been hijacked by the brainwashed socialists greens and Liberal nutters who spent their uni days tying themselves to fig trees and handcuffing themselves to bulldozers
By the way Civic Park look ****ing great now it been a few years since those hideous trees were removed
