The FFA can't afford for us to fail because they need to sell their product. While they may not go overboard, they certainly won't act in a way to decrease the clubs value any further.

Damien De Bohun is another one of those tells you what you want to hear and sounds good.
im just getting slightly nervous with the fact that we only have 13 players and there has been no real concrete links to additional players. Every coach would love to have a full squad to work with in pre-season especially for a club the FFA have so strongly indicated they need to succeed. Success will be extremely difficult when the coaching staff only has 4 weeks to inplement structures with full squad.
also what has Pascoe done since he was resigned on an interim basis?
Because Wollongong (like Canberra and Central Coast) at its peak can never match Newcastle at its peak, it doesn't have the same market capability. A Wollongong team in the bottom three after a few years will just be another Mariners, who have only scraped by due to on field success. FFA know deep down that a well managed Newcastle team should be the third or fourth biggest club in the country.
Remember we have had 10,000 despite not making the finals for 5 years - even the Smurfs would struggle to get that.
Seriously though................where are some f$&king signings. I'm getting that desperate I'd almost celebrate any signing, good or bad. Maybe that's the effect they trying for.
The only way any player would come to the Newcastle Jets would be if they are offered a lot more [probably double] than the competition is asking or if they cannot get a run anywhere else.
Given the club has no money means the best they can do is sign players no other team is interested in.
It's possible for one or two unwanted players to prove everyone wrong but when you need ten or so like the Jets do we are really clutching at straws.
If the club can get a team together and make it though the season that would be a massive achievement.
To think the club can actually find quality players or even be competitive is a pipedream
As to the notion that the FFA doesn't want to pour more money into the Jets than what is absolutely necessary - you're right. That's what the salary cap is for, and completely absorbed by the monthly grants every club gets.
We already knew a marquee was off the table unless and until new ownership is in place and decides to pump money into said cause/s.
I expect we'll sign atleast 3 recycled players like mate dugandzic who shouldn't be asking for too much. I also expect us to tap into a few of the young Aussies playing overseas that have recently been released such as giancarlo gallifuoco. Then whatever is left spend on 2 or 3 quality players.
Any local NPL players that could make up some numbers and do a job?
Wouldn't be a bad option if we can't find quality anywhere else and have a few spots to fill.
Yes, we should be aiming much higher, but we are getting pretty close now and we are struggling to fill the bench.

Would be confident if we had 2 quality Midfielders and 15 Goal a Season Striker. A lot of youth in the squad though, gives Miller the chance to build. Can't understand the negativity towards him from some. There has only been positives since FFA took over.
Hugo Rodallega is on the look out for a new Club, Miller has worked with him before, his only 29. It might take Marque type money to get him out here but come on FFA show us how "committed" you are to the Hunter region.
I don't buy this hole the FFA won't spend extra money on us as that would be extra cost for the new owners crap, Wanderers got Shinji and I could be wrong but if memory serves me correctly when they had Adelaide they were in discussions with Flores before he went to Melbourne. So I'm not buying this new owners might not want a marque bs, if FFA are serious about being "committed" to the Hunter then show us the money.
***insert Jerry Maguire meme***
Hugo Rodallega would own A league defenders.
I don't think the Jets have a hope in hell of signing him but if they did I'd be putting money on him for the golden boot.
I can't believe how cold it is on player signing rumours. Usually jimmy Gardiner has some idea and a few posters on here sometimes have the inside word. I used to hear a bit from a couple of sources up until the start of last season but certainly nothing now.
Word is that Miller wants to bring in 1/2 foreign players, unlikely to be Marquee though. How that fits with the Cap, I have no idea.
At least the Co-Major sponsor should be announced this week or next, nice to see things coming together off the field for a change, even if player recruitment is quiet.
1/2 a foreigner is better than none at all.
Would only cost 1/2 as much too.
Jetmaster, your reputation is as bad as mine. What happened?
It'll be loan players. He's spoke about loans ever since he took the job
Pretty sure the FFA Cup will be a write off this yr, it will be the lowest of priorities, and to be honest, it probably should be for fans and members too. We need to be looking at getting things right for the future, not for a game in 4 weeks when we have 14 players. The signings will be aimed at getting everything right before the league starts. If we can get a win against perth, thats just a bonus...
Finally a signing!
20 year old Lachlan Jackson from the Roar.
Left sided CB, 1 year deal.
Pretty set a CB now, Mullen and Boogs with Marlow and Jackson backing them up.

Lachlan Jackson Jets In
Newcastle Jets are pleased to confirm the signing of promising left-sided central defender Lachlan Jackson on a one-season Hyundai A-League contract.
Jackson arrives at the Jets having made three senior appearances for competition rivals Brisbane Roar in last season’s A-League.
The addition of Jackson to the Jets’ senior roster completes the club’s requirements under A-League regulations to contract three players aged 20 or under. Jackson joins Radovan Pavicevic and Joshua Barresi in this group.
Born in Townsville, the tall 20-year-old was a member of Roar’s 2015 AFC Champions League squad and indeed scored his maiden A-League goal against Newcastle in the final regular season round last campaign.
Jackson completed his medical with the club on Friday and will commence training with the first team today.
The youngster said that he is delighted to be taking the next step in his career by penning his first professional contract with Newcastle.
“I am excited to join the Jets,” Jackson said. “I think moving down here is a good choice for me.”
“Working with Scott [Miller] and ‘JP’ [Jean-Paul de Marigny] I think I can progress my career.”
“Towards the end of last season I got to make a few senior appearances for Brisbane, and in the game against Newcastle I think they saw something that they liked, which is encouraging.”
“I am looking forward to being part of the rebuild here in Newcastle, and helping to establish the Jets as a strong competitor.”
Newcastle Jets mentor Miller said that Jackson would add depth and balance to his central defensive options.
“In Lachlan we see a player with substantial potential and someone who ought to benefit from being in a full time environment learning from experienced professionals in his position, particularly Nigel Boogaard and Daniel Mullen,” Miller said.
“He’s exceptionally driven and demonstrates sound tactical awareness and composure in possession, which are desirable traits for our club and team.
“While Lachlan starts with us on a one-season contract, we view him as a player who can develop into a regular A-League starter with the club in the coming years.
“As a club we’re excited to help Lachlan achieve his goals,” Miller concluded.
That's 14 senior squad players on the books. Another 6-9 to go.
Also confirms that Barresi and Pavecevic are both on senior squad contracts and not full time NYL contracts like Lundy
Not that i'm a massive fan, but what are the chances of the FFA signing Bresciano for a swan song year in Newcastle? They can top him up with coaching/pundit contracts signed for after his retirement and only pay him reasonable marquee money for the year?
