What's the go playing in FFA Cup badged shirts??
They taking the piss trying to wind me up are they ??
Kokko went off early?
Sums up why our fans are shit!
Someone does well* and instead of going wow he might do well this season and fulfil his potential we automatically mock the other team. I know it's a joke and we haven't been given much to positive about for a while but a local lad scoring a double in a pre-season game in China (not against an NPL team) is something to be positive about.
*Compared to the previous few years
Good sign with Miller having Ugarkovic and Brown in the middle that he is thinking more positively this season. Whether the formation was 4-4-2 or 4-1-3-2 I hope we don't go back to 2 holding or screening mids when the season starts. For years we've been playing mainly with 2 holding mids and yes it was effective in 06/07 and 07/08 but the game has changed since then and you need to make fast, swift transitions in attack getting numbers forward. If you have 2 holding mids screening the back four you are essentially losing a man in attack.
i think this sums up most fans' frustration with Miller.
With the Ugabooga man there he finally has someone who can be like Stu and be a positive influence in attack (didnt beard give us that for a few games too for a bit?).
Heres hoping that thats the mindset of the team this year it might do wonders.
1-0 after 40min
Brymora
.....Duncan has not conceded yet :brrr:
1-1. BK out.
Anyone following this on Twitter, there seems to be a crazy amount of in game betting going on for what is a nothing practice match. Is this normal?
Betting would explain this post from McKinna
Quote:
1 all after 4 mins in the 2 Ned half. Cowburn came on at half time and then ref put him off for some reason not sent off but unsure why and Eastern scored against 10 men debate now going on at the side of the park
We win we win 2-1.... BK concede again FFS!!!!

I just don't see a team here that will be playing A-league finals football anytime soon.
The defence looks as piss weak as last season.
I mean that's 2 poor games in a row by BK.
Can we cut him to open up a squad spot to sign Steve Lustica?
Your point about the GK I agree, but older and slower defenders?
Boogaard (30)
Hoffman (27)
Mullen (26)
Cowburn (21)
Jackson (21)
Vujica (19)
Boogaard was never the quickest defender, but I can't see him being any slower than last year. The rest of them are young enough to not be losing speed any time soon, and being a year older is probably an advantage for everyone in that list bar the captain. Before you jump on it though, I will agree that our defence as a whole could be improved, and I'm hoping Miller does that when a few contracts run out, but it's definitely no worse than last year (GK aside).
Keep in mind they played a lot of games with Watson in front of them giving up possession more often than I could count.
No one has seen Vujica yet so unable to comment on him
Cowburn and Mullen are not quick at all and it is noticeable how slow they are when done over by speed.
Boogaard is as you said slow
Hoffman isn't slow but he ain't quick either.
So that's 3 of your 4 first choice back 4 from last year below par on the speed front
The lack of speed in the group leads to problems such as needless free kicks pens cards ad send offs as well as increased shots reigned down on your keeper.
Millertime has made signings in the front 3rd and midfield but I am surprised this area hasn't been significantly strengthened as it is a cornerstone of a successful side.. Our defence last season wasn't exactly the greatest anyway so going in with same same bar Birraz seems rather naive
Vujica is definitely slowing down. It's well known that slavs age extremely quickly. Not that I'm a racialist: this is just plain, phrenological fact.
What Boogaard lacks in speed he makes up for in red cards. Oh wait...
I agree with all of that, although my point was more around them not being any worse than last season based on being older or slower.
I'd say Miller is possibly waiting for contracts to run out. Boogaard and Mullen's contracts are too big to be sitting on the bench, and unless other clubs have come knocking on our door (doubtful) they aren't going to leave & give up those $$. Lee shipping out our captain & local lad after sitting in the hot seat for 5 minutes wouldn't have gone down very well.
Did we ever solve that argument on whether paid out players count towards the cap?
^^^^
Just my 2 cents on the "speed" argument. "Speed" between the ears is more important then any physical speed.
The best defenders are the ones who are not blessed with athleticism (though that does help) but the ones who read the game really well and are one step ahead of their attackers. For example Boogs' bad discipline record is not because he is an overly aggressive player, it's mainly because he gets himself in positions where he has to make a rash split-second decision such as a miss-timed tackle or having to commit a professional foul by shirt-tugging/holding etc.
He can look back on his discretions from last year and hopefully learn from them and be a bit smarter this season but the truth is most defenders (and players in general) either have or don't have this uncanny ability to read the game.
You can see the cogs turning in the heads of many Jets players as they decide whether or not to pass, dribble, shoot, or more often than not turn the ball over.
Some coaches think you can get around slow mindedness by increasing athleticism but if the Jets are anything to go by that's clearly not the case.
I find Boogs to be off the mark both mentally and athletically for someone on the type of coin he's on.
He will be a worthwile addition to out team on a relevant wage but to pay him 200k plus is just downright madness.
The very handsome Carnavaro won worlds best player being slow but awesome and he then worked out how to regrow hair.
That's what the jets need.
Mascherano is 4'6" and played centre back for best team in cosmos.
Keep the bloody ball = less defending.

Valderamma was one of the best I can remember when it came to reading a game
When he had the ball it looked like he had forever before anyone came near him.
