Oh no, my multis have escaped again!! Quick call F Troop
That's a really good draw for us and provides a realistic challenge to the final.
Rd 16 at home v Macarthur. My guess will be Maitland hosting this
QF v Heidelberg or Oakleigh down there given principles of the draw.
SF v NPL team guaranteed at their home.
All other A-League tasks on other side of the draw. Adelaide, VARctory, Perth and WSW.
I really hope we take this chance
I do think GvE would be a wise choice for managing the Matildas. He has all players' respect. He understands the women's game. But this is not the thread for this discussion.
Also, WTF is with the weirdos who are angry at Australian female players because they *checks notes* attract a lot of support and demand commensurate remuneration?
In case you haven't seen it online yet, next round for us will be Sunday, Aug 25th, Maito Sportsground..

So there?s a game Sunday, jets are a bit quiet
This Natta in midfield experiment looks interesting
Can we find a role at the club for Ingham, I don't know... bringing water bottles?
He's increasingly embarrassing
"2-0...and we..."
This is not Monday Morning Quarterback stuff since i have been critical of Stanton and his game management since he got schooled by Rudan v Wanderers down at P/Matta last season. I have no doubt he is a great identifier of talent and seeing that talent through to playing at A League level but his actual coaching / game management is bloody woeful. I can see like what happened many times last season we will look great get ourselves in to a position to go on with it and we shut up shop and allow the opposition into the game and eventually steal a victory.
Also today with our attacking options were walking with 25 mins to go and Bayliss is on the bench with his thumb up his ass when he is just the type that can provide that moment against a tiring defence, F&*( knows what he was meant to do with 8mins plus to swing the game back our way. Blokes he could have come on earlier for were spent. Game awareness is not a strength of Stanton's, It wasn't last season and today was a repeat of that.
Positives - scored 3 goals, did some nice work at times moving the ball around, movement seemed quick
Negatives - conceded 4, poor defence, still got a few players that blow hot then cold within 3 seconds
Still not sure about Stanton.
Ingham and Timmins both need to be moved to the bench ASAP.
Van Dorssen played RB a bit, would love to see us try him out there since the CB is quite competitive for us. Timmins has been pushed up super high across all 3 games so far, which baffles me. It was announced earlier this week we're in advanced negotiations with an attacking player, so hopefully that's not something that persists throughout. Scarcella and Bayliss are also better options currently in midfield, both defensively and attacking.
I thought Natta at CDM was an interesting choice which I quite liked. He got worse as we went along, but so did everyone, so I think it's worth giving that another run.
I like Taylor, but he is too inconsistent. Over the course of the cup he's been outshined by Aquilina who is stepping up in a big way, and for me Taylor really needs to follow suit, because when he's on it really lifts the whole team.
I can't see the point of Timmins being allowed on the field. He doesn't score goals, and he has absolutely zero defensive awareness.
He just seems to be wandering around aimlessly without any purpose. Not sure if that's on him or the coach.
A lot of fight though from players like Rose, Natta, Aquilina, Taylor. and so, on gives me some hope that we will at least not go winless in the regular season.
Hello darkness my old friend.....
I've missed this feeling of being built up but ultimately let down. We're nothing but consistent
Agree with Dunster that there are a few glimmers with those players he called out. Defensively a shambles down the right for 3 of the goals and Wilmering got done as Germain beat him to assist the 4th. I think we need a bit more age in the team. You saw how the likes of Germain, Brattan, Jurman and Uskok managed them back into the match.
New year, new owners, same old Classic Jets
I genuinely think we only lost because of the rain.

Some teams have been treating the Cup as another trial game before the league starts, that's about to change with the new ACL format. The winner of the Australia Cup qualifies for ACL 2 and AU$450,000 just for qualifying. If they happen to win ACL2 they get around AU$5 million. The A league has also become more lucrative with the winners qualifying for ACL Elite and around AU$1.2 million just for qualifying, and if they win the Elite competition they receive around AU$18 million. Makes everything a bit more important
