Claiming the NPLW is costing them the same as the NPLM? I call bullshit big time. Can only see Gema Simon and Melina Ayres on the big $. I bet Regan takes home more than both of them too

Newcomers Lake Macquarie City look set to lose their first-grade goalkeeper for an extended period of time after Taylah Gray was red-carded against New Lambton in NPLW Northern NSW on Friday night for alleged match official abuse.
Gray was heard to be using offensive language and questioning the referee's decision to award a penalty in the 88th minute of the match at Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility after Tara Andrews was felled by Caitlin McMahon in the 18-yard box.
Gray was issued her marching orders and Andrews converted the penalty to seal a 3-2 win for the Golden Eagles and an individual match treble.
"I was really happy with the performance of the girls; it was hugely disappointing for it to end the way that it did," Lake Macquarie coach Gabrielle Blanch said.
"I'd like to say a draw would've been fair but I do think the girls deserved the three. It was just unfortunate the way that it did finish up."
Last year, Northern NSW Football introduced tough new measures to stamp out match official abuse.
It meant, the first instance of match official abuse from a team - player or coach - resulted in a three-point competition points deduction suspended until the end of the calendar year. In the case of a second offence from the same team, a total of six points would be deducted.
The minimum penalty for a player or team official directing offensive language or gestures at a match official was increased from a minimum four-match ban to six matches.
Last season, Mid Coast player Ceara Walker was handed a six-match ban for saying "F*** off" when called for offside in a game.
Gray had also played the earlier game for Lakes on Friday night with the club's reserve-grade shot-stopper sidelined after sinus surgery.
"We're in a little bit of a pickle at the moment that we're trying to work through," Blanch said.
"We obviously understand the zero tolerance policy is there for a very good reason, so it's hugely disappointing that that's the case and the fall-out of that is obviously going to really hurt us, if I'm completely honest."
Andrews had opened the scoring in the 42nd minute but Tahlor Thackray equalised two minutes later.
Andrews again gave New Lambton a one-goal advantage in the 53rd minute before Ani Jensen levelled in the 78th minute.
Thackray took the gloves for the final few minutes of the match.
It was New Lambton's first win of the season after a 6-1 loss to defending champions Charlestown followed by a 3-1 defeat at the hands of last year's premiers Maitland.
New Lambton had goalkeeper issues of their own in the first two rounds but have since secured former Newcastle Jets shot-stopper Claire Coelho through a long-term injury replacement dispensation.
"It's been good to get a goalkeeper with experience like that because putting a player in goals is not ideal, and Claire did a great job, probably made a couple of good saves," Stedman said.
"Pre-season was great then we had a couple of little speedbumps in the first couple of rounds, so to get the first win was great.
"We went into the game with a bit of pressure, so we enjoyed the win and there was a bit of relief we were able to get a couple of points on the board and move forward."
On Sunday, Maitland beat Adamstown 2-0 at Adamstown Oval.
Renee Pountney got a foot to the ball at the back post in the fifth minute and Keely Gawthrop extended the advantage with an easy close-range tap-in in the 61st minute.
Georgia Amess and former South African international Marry Ntsweng played a part in both goals.
The round-four exchange between Charlestown and Broadmeadow set down for Lisle Carr Oval on Saturday afternoon was postponed due to a wet ground.
Lakes keeper has been given 8 match suspension. Precedent has been set. Hopefully players learn to keep their mouths shut.
She has let the whole NPLW at Lakes down so hopefully all the Clubs take note. I understand it can get frustrating on the field when things don?t go your way but like you said, keep your mouths shut! We need umpires and many only did it for 12 months and don?t come back due to behaviour like this.
For me it depends on context, if you say it to no one as a vent of frustration, I don't personally think there should be an issue.
If you're making eye contact with the ref/linesman and clearly are directing it at them then I'm fine with it being punishable.
The problem is there is plenty of grey area in between that is open to interpretation by officials which gets harder to have easy decisions on.
I understand what you are saying what is disent and what is abuse. But in your context it's still a red card -R6. Using language and/or gestures in frustration, and 1 match suspension. See the table on page 33 of the premier competition regulations.
Now if the referee thinks you swore at him or her in frustration then you run the risk of minimum 6 weeks. Simple remedy is to keep your mouth shut.
At present and based on the results, Magic is in for a long season ahead. They need more quality players to get out of current form.
Sounds like some dodgy calls made by New Lambton on the weekend, the Wet Bulb was well under the maximum, and then claims of a couple players not feeling it. Did Adamstown agree to this or were the refs bullied into stopping the game
Interesting to see both Rhali Stonham and Alex Huyhn starting Res grade today. Two big name signings for the season and by round 6 out of favour in regards to first team selection?
hello all, its been a while. I've been away for a while (duty calls) and come back to a season that has had an interesting start. looks like magic are off to a flyer. Buds are on the ropes, Olympic not listening to the advice of their long term leader (Strat) who has been punted for telling them the truth about what the future holds for them and its not pretty. it going to be an interesting season once again. what are you thoughts on round 6. there are some results there that Im sure some will have nightmare about for the rest of the season.
Wait what strats gone? What?s happening there. They had such a good thing going on in the girls
Olympic will miss Strat for sure, lovely guy who only wanted the best for the girls. Such a shame. Wonder if the first grade coach no one likes has anything to do with it!
Anyway, round 7. Any thoughts on how the teams are going so far?
I know it only comes down to first grade at the end of the day but how are all
Grades going ?? Seriously interested to know people?s thoughts
Two huge signings for Lake Macquarie just announced Lara Gooch and Milan Hammond. Also a huge blow for the Jets academy considering Milan has been playing some games for them already this year and they are eligible for relegation now.
The addition of A-League players in the near future is going to make things interesting. Lakes adding two New Lambton adding a few. Anyone know of other clubs adding more?
I?m also very happy to be proven wrong in my early predictions with Maitland, very impressed with how they have started the season can only hope they continue it.
Season has been a lot more competitive then I expected.
Thus far, Maitland has been the most consistent team this year, and deserve to be leading the comp. New Lambton will be strong with their usual A League (Davies and Allen). Not sure who lakes or Azzurri will sign. Magic already signed a fair few players, and I am not sure if they have room for any new players.
What are people's thoughts on the late Friday night grand final for the girls teams?
Indeed, they talk about Darling Street having 4 changerooms and how good it is. No reason then why they couldn't have WPL Reserves, NPL Reserves, WPL First Grade then NPL First Grade all on Sunday, plenty of time for the rooms to be used and then have PYLG on Saturday
The herald states NPLW is Saturday 6th September at 2pm 🤷*♂️
NNSW website also says Saturday 2pm

The W in NPLW stands for women.
Righto gentlemen let?s move on. And get back to the point.
Playing the games at speers and on a Friday night is ridiculous. Playing 13?s and 17?s at the same time not only disadvantages parents who have kids in both. But what about the coaches who would like to enjoy watching other teams at the club go for glory or in fact help out with other grades.
I think it’s unreasonable to expect them to play at a time they usually do not. Most of their games would be during the daytime over the weekend. Playing at night and on a Friday night doesn’t seem right.
I’m assuming they are doing 15s first to allow any fill ins to play in their respective teams afterwards. But having 2 grand finals simultaneously for the same competition seems a bit weird.
I can see why they don’t want to put them at Darling Street. Ends up with plenty of games on the pitch before the NPL Mens which should be the last game of the football season.
In an ideal world the senior competitions would be staggered
Week 1 - ZL3 and ZL2
Week 2 - ZL1 and Northern League 1 reserves and NPL playoff
Week 3 - NPLW and NPLM
Could put NPL Youth ‘girls’ and ‘boys’ on Week 1 or 2.
I don't see what the girls can't play the weekend after either? Had the boys season not been cut short then they would be finishing well after the NPL grand final, no reason why the NPLW grand final can't be held before the other teams.
As a coach of an U/13?s team we have kicked off at 8:30am, 9am and 10am. And by the time we finish the season will have probably played one game on a synthetic field, compared to Adamstown and Lakes who play their on multiple occasions. I can understand if it?s wet weather and they move the games there but majority of teams play on grass let?s keep it that way.
Whats wrong with having the girls all play on one day. 1st ressies and 19s. Those that follow can see multiple games.
