Another dismal fortnight. Any thoughts about not being up to scratch is clearly vindicated. Having coaching "badges" isnt all they cracked up to be. Letting our boys down

I am aware of some ongoing, unpleasant occurances at the club...so decided to give them a bit of a break from comments about them.
But, I did go and watch 2 1/2 games vs St George the other week...I am surprised how they distributed player of the match awards after the fact.
Positional awareness and discipline aren't where they ought to be (but of ball watching too)...they can, and should be much better
So, Jets are now n last place following a 15pt club deduction (youth league)
They had managed to get to 13th earlier in the week before this
So with season not looking very promising even before this, relegation must be feeling a real threat and I wonder how the players (parents) will handle a potential drop
(Will the club even just decide to come back to local football...our local system is obviously improving over the last couple of years...could be an attractive for them)
All for a club administrative misdemeanour 2 seasons ago.
Pretty harsh on the academy players and their parents and families considering the club also copped a fine and every team is deducted 3 points from their respective league tables.

Not sure if misdemeanor is the right word, according to the statement I saw, they failed in their legal obligations to provide audited accounts (proving their solvency, etc - at least of the youth program). (It notes they did rovide this 2 months after the due date in August)
FNSW was probably fined, and they likely passed along the fine. Obviously solvency is a big thing in our game giving it's position and history.
Whether the points are justified, I suppose it depends on their governing body to decide. FNSW must have thought it appropriate because the appeal apparently didn't go anywhere either.
I tried briefly (and lazily) to search news from FNSW side, but couldn't see anything
Good reaction from the boy?s teams today - 3 wins and 2 draws down in Wollongong - 10 of those points returned.
Good to see improved results.
But the actions from some players to get themselves suspended or cut from a younger squad is disgraceful and very disappointing.
This behaviour also comes from a lack of positive club culture and poor coaching behaviour instruction regardless.
Also when a coach has his son as captain is most questionable and another failing in this space to go with the other incompence from recent weeks.
I hope to get some new integrity back in the Academy sooner rather than later.
There a plenty of top class coaches in this city both high ex players and/or coaching
So results from Jets girls Vs WSW Academy
1st 5-0 Loss
23?s 3-0 Loss
18?s 8-0 Loss
16?s 3-3 Draw
15?s 1-0 Loss
14?s 5-1 Loss
WSW 1st grade we?re on a run of 4 losses in a row and Jets 1st grade have now conceded 20 goals in their last 4 games scoring 1, currently last. Something needs to change. Whilst they couldn?t get relegated it was claimed they were focused on players development as they were playing up an age group but would easily compete in their own age groups. Now they are playing In There own age groups where did the development go why are they not competing in their own age groups?
Should a professional club legitimately have any parents involved in coaching at all is a values question that should be answered, really
Anyway, they had a good weekend, and that will hopefully save them from the relegation zone they've sat in for weeks (since the point deduction)
Jets youth will avoid the drop this year. Very disappointing considering we have the talent here to be top 6 in all ages.
Hopefully they can sort out their incompetence at the admin & coaching areas
Whilst ever the people in charge are the boys club/ in crowd and if you're part of it is one of the main factors in the selection process, I think you'll need more the hope to get the Jets sorted.
Just a quick glance at the table can show an area that seems to neglected across all squads. And it comes down to the selections. All ages are poor at keeping the ball out of their own net.
18s 6th on table, 7th worst defence
16s 10th on table, 2nd wort defence
15s 12th on table, 3rd worst defence
14s 10th on table, 5th worst defence
13s 7th on table, 4th worst defence
Not a single age group has anyone higher then them on their table who has conceded more goals then they have. And all grades would be higher if based on goals scored except 14s but they stay in 10th on goals scored.
Im sure this is a club wide policy and must be a bit to do with coaching and style of play too. But I know for a fact, multiple kids who have gone into the jets from playing as wingers, strikers, CAMs to all end up playing at fullbacks,CDMs or CBs. Even in 13s trial process fr next year, one kid not selected and feed back was "ball skills not quite as tidy as some, but if they were picking a defenders defender he'd be first picked. And that sometimes the selectors forget that a defenders first job is to stop goals". Then another kids whos gone the whole JDL as a LW, LM and trialled in that spot, was then tried to be shoe horned into LCB because his tall and left footed.
Haha, why would I have a grudge. You obviously have no actual way to debunk my point so throw out the same response everyone does on here when the jets are questioned. " you have a grudge against them/someone" im surprised you didn't got with the other generic " guess your kid was not selected" line.
When did I ever mention results, as in the ones mum and dads worry about. I never said the issue was with how they are going on in the comp. But that its quite obvious that defence and not conceding goals is an area that as a club they are very poor at. The only team that bucks that trend is the u20s even the 1st grade men's are the same. And I pointed out from were I see those areas of struggle coming from, ie club playing philosophy ( which if it's to develop poor defensive players, I'd find it odd), poor coaching ( which i believe to be part of it) and poor slection ( picking players that look good but aren't suited)
But it?s not about picking the best players, a kid may stand out in his/her club games but does he/she have the attributes to learn and to be coached, there?s a big difference, conceding goals at this age means nothing in my opinion, yeah it?s good to win but it?s better to learn
Once again I never alluded to it being about winning and loosing, so we can stop bring that point up.
The main point was that the evidence points to an inherent deficiency in a particular area of the game across all but one team. I could understand if it was in 4 of the 7 age groups or even 5. But the fact is that it's across virtually all of them ( only u20s is not but looking at how dominant they are going forward and in the comp I'd bet they do a lot less defending then the rest of the reams). It's from 13s all the way to 1st grade, that would be an indicator that they are either,
1. Not picking the right players (not the right attributes, not coachable, cant/ unwilling to learn).
2. Have a poor coaching philosophy, or are poor at coaching/instilling a good philosophy. Or have coaches not at the required level for Newcastle's elite development club.
3. Picking players that are part of the in crowd, or dare I say going to the right academy's or have ties to the right people.
How can you say conceding goals at this age is ok as long as they learn. There is no magic age in football that you know all you are ever going to know, I'm 40yrs old and still learning new things about football. You dont get to 25 and go I can defend now because I'm old enough and I've learnt enough.
You also bring up that its not about picking the best kids, but that just backs up my first post. I virtually said that exact thing. I said they pick out kids who look good, but dont have the right attributes. They pick what is precieved to be the best 16 in there eyes and then try and shoehorn them into positions. Any parent within the system will tell you the same thing. And it's across the board, they dont care if the best 16 are all strikers they just pick them then make it up. There are multiple cases of this and even multiple cases of this killing the kids enjoyment which drives them out. Not only out of the jets but out of the game in all together.
Women jets relegated (2 senior teams, youth staying up thanks to the younger grades 18s are near the bottom of the table) in the first year they are eligible. Any player with junior Matildas or a-league aspirations will most likely move on next season. Good chance to reset and start again. Might also be time for the people in charge to get out an see how the local clubs are developing the players as some do it well some not so well.
A bit of all above. Players play for themselves more than the team. Arrogance is a problem but also part of the mental edge needed. A fair bit of over-coaching happening. Kids havent a clue how the implement instruction then get grilled.
Ive seen many come back into local grade and not be the best on field even after acclimatising to a fairly different type of football.
Occasionally the strong mental fortitude isnt there from the player will fantastic ability but that is not often.
Coaching is the main problem. We have the talent to go further.
