Nice FM detective work there, Grim..
I am expecting Falcao, if anything less than him i will blame middleby and bridges!
Yep, off you go:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor...al_footballers
So, it would appear that there are a LOT of Ecuadorian players missing in the database. Maybe SI don't have the rights...
However, I did find a few possibilities...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joffre_Guerron
Plays for Beijing Guo'an but was there after Griff left. Also listed as "right winger", not striker.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joao_Rojas
Plays for Cruz Azul but also listed as a winger, not striker.
Well, there goes FM as a source of info :(
I'm guessing juan Luis anangono
If Gardiner is correct about the striker being from Ecuador:
JAIME AYOVÍ - http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jaime...spieler/139494
ENNER VALENCIA - http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/enner...spieler/139503
Both in Ecuadors world cup squad and young strikers - 2 more possibilities? Not sure we would have the cash for them though?
Marlon de Jesus fits the bill
I see no reason for Stubbs to hype it up if it turns out too be some no name kid. I'm not expecting some huge name but if he has as much name value as someone like Berisha did prior to coming to Roar then I see no reason even announcing we were gonna sign someone from South America.
So is this striker thing bloody happening or not? C'mon Phil.
finally, what a great signing... mario jardel .. we should win the league now
Your probably right. Pretty well too late for one today. Bloke probably changed his mind and jets are madly trying to get another signing up for this week.
On a different trajectory, with stubbins saying we'll probably bring in another centre back, it will surely have to be a low wage signing. What about David vrankovic? Young guy that I reckon would of kept his contract with melb city had chapman not forced his way down there. Any other young, promising ones around?
Personally I would of kept josh mitchell
caravan has been released
Need a tough nut, who has great vision and good passing range
I was wondering if this would happen. Two theories here, Caravella career nose dived at AUFC after being successful at the Gold Coast so wondering if he and Stubbins did not see eye to eye. Second theory is that Stubbins has stated we are after a midfielder/defender for the final squad position I wonder if Caravella's salary was required for this position. Might explain holding off on formalising the striker deal should Stubbins still be juggling the salary cap.
As it looks likely we will play 442 with a midfield diamond, I wonder in Jon Mackain is being looked at for the midfield/defender role. We will need a dedicated DM to which only Kanta fills the role.
Didn't Stubbins leave BEFORE Caravella arrived? Or at least in the same off-season...
I think it could just be that Caravella hasn't recovered as well as he had hoped from his ligament tear and is retiring to pursue life outside of football in his hometown of Cairns, kind of like it says in the article...
