Mike Mulvey appointed as mariners coach for two seasons
If Mulvey attempts to play his style of football with the kind of budget / players the Gypo's have - then I'd say he won't make it to the tenth round next season before he pays Centrelink a visit.
Might put this here - NB: the BK mentioned here is obviously not the same BK that played for us...

So Mulvey thinks the Mariners are ‘a sleeping giant.’ It’s fair to say Mulvey has absolutely no ****ing idea what that means because there is NOTHING that suggests the Mariners will ever be a powerhouse in Australian football. No history, **** all fans, **** all money, and no real ability to expand on anything at all.
a sleeping giant turd that will never wake up innit?
as part of the A-League capital cities only expansion plan they really need to move the Mariners franchise to the other side of the Hawkesbury (they'll still be shit, but at least they'll be a Sydney team then and get preferential treatment from FFA)...
Expecting a Mulvey resignation announcement Monday morning :lulz:
I bet he struck a line through about 10 of the 11 players who started and then he'll be slowly realising that he only has about 80% of the salary cap to spend to replace them.
Mariners have the worst CEO in the history of the HAL and will be wining spoons every year until promotion/relegation comes in.
Their CEO is apparently pretty good. Charlesworth is their problem. No outside cap spending, no money above the salary floor... they are only spending what they have to under the CBA. Hard to not imagine Mulvey getting the exact same kind of output next season without money... best they can hope for is dire, rigid but organised football like Miller did with us in his season.
Interesting to read that a drinking culture amongst the players had been allowed to develop under Agent Okon which is being blamed as one of the reasons their season turned to rubbish halfway through.
Hoole got stood down from his escapades on Australia Day didn’t he?
Sorry, got Owner and CEO mixed up.
I heard that somehow they can't even afford to spend the entire salary cap. Not sure how that works given the way the cap is paid by the TV rights deal, but it was mentioned a few times on the CCM forum.
Also, plenty of talk about a drinking culture within the team.
Hurry up and move them to North Sydney.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the club confirmed that Liam Rose, Storm Roux, Jacob Poscoliero, Josh Bingham, Blake Powell, Peter Skapetis and Tom Glover will all conclude their time on the Coast.
Wasn't Liam Rose being courted by City at one point?
Skapetis looked ok the 2 times I watched him but he mustn't have set the world on fire to be released by the then lowly-placed Roar and then last-placed Mariners. Same with Poscoliero - didn't happen for hm in Perth before moving back to teh Mariners.
Roux is meant to be going to Victory.
Glover, back to Spurs I'd suggest before coming back to Australia.
Bingham has finally been found out. Powell has just fallen off a cliff from his Nix form but could see him at the Wanderers.
Seven player and two staff departures just announced:

The club can today confirm that Liam Rose, Storm Roux, Jacob Poscoliero, Josh Bingham, Blake Powell, Peter Skapetis and Tom Glover have completed their playing careers with the Mariners. Foxtel National Youth League Head Coach/Academy Technical Director Wayne O’Sullivan and Hyundai A-League Strength & Conditioning Coach Balder Berckmans have also completed their tenures with the club.

Gypos denied re-entry into the W-League. Maybe the men's team could transfer to that and have a (slightly) better chance of not coming last.
FFA's main reasoning was concerns of a "talent deficit". Also advised their priorities before adding new teams are:
1. Broadcast and live streaming of all WWL matches and
2. Delivering a full home and away schedule

Really though, when the club has come out and said they'll be operating A-League side on the absolute bare-minimum funds to stay afloat it's hard to see why they thought getting a W-League license to add to their expenses would be a good idea.
If they hadn’t already got a few credits in the bank from their consistent finals appearances, surely more people would be questioning their viability by now.
A full home and away schedule, even thought there is a bye round. You might wonder if a W-League team is a requirement for teams that have expressed an interest in joining the comp?
You could then read into it that with Canberra already have a W-League team and the addition of 1 more W-League team from the other (say Wollongong) would fill the home and away season. #conspiracy
Thought they had a team full of women already??
Called their HAL side
Put them in the W League be about their level
8-2 have to support that shite Mulvey has to coach
Anyone got an update on Hoole's Euro adventure?
Do you think he'd be expecting to play in the Youth Team after only one year in Europe?
Where's Bolt?
Uzzy Bolton confirmed to be coming to train.
