It will be 9 derbies a season not 3
That keeps the code in attention nearly all season long

Was that MykitchenRules on porpoise.
When the league goes to 12 teams, play everyone twice = 22 Rounds, not long enough season.
Would have to have 2 conferences, maybe something like
Sydney FC
Wanderers
Newcastle
Central Coast
Brisbane
New Sydney?
Perth
Adelaide
Victory
City
Phoenix
New Melbourne?
Play everyone twice and your conference teams 3 times.
22 + 5 Conference games = 27 games
Could even revamp the finals system, top 3 from each conference go through.
12 team comp top 10 make the finals.
Content content content y'all!!!
The way I see it, there's only two options for expansion that are actually viable: Wollongong (not Southern Sydney) & South Melbourne.
The ideal is to have Wollongong & Canberra but Canberra won't be able to maintain the interest, money, everything needed to last the distance IMO.
Other than those 2/3 options ^ I don't see any other legit place in Australia for expansion.
The FFA are desperate to get 2 more teams in before the new TV deal. They'll try really hard on Southern Sydney and Canberra, and they'll both IMO fail, and the "safe" options for the FFA are Wollongong and South Melbourne. And it'll pain the FFA so freaking much to allow effniks back in :rof:
That "conference" idea has been tried by both the NSL and NRL ending in failure - some teams played each other three times, some once and the draw had no sense.
And I remember Rosebud being relegated after coming fifth or sixth due to those stupid rules.Quote:
1984–1986: Conference system and power shift
Shrinking crowds led to the radical move of introducing more teams (mainly from Victoria and New South Wales) and splitting the league into two conferences, with the winner of each division to play off in an end of year two legged final. For season 1984 the 'Australian' Conference had competing teams from New South Wales and the ACT, whilst the 'National' Conference consisted of Victorian, South Australian and Queensland clubs. For 1985 and 1986 this reverted to 'Northern' and 'Southern' Conferences. Strangely, the competition's most geographically northern sides, Brisbane Lions and Brisbane City were in the latter grouping.
This period saw South Melbourne become the first Victorian team to win the league, followed by Brunswick Juventus, and Adelaide City, all Southern conference sides. At the end of the 1986 season, the system was scrapped, and about half the teams were dumped back to their respective state leagues. The criteria used to decide who stayed and who went was based 50% on the 1986 playing record, 40% on past playing record, and 10% on crowd support.[14] The result was that only one team from outside Sydney and Melbourne, reigning champions Adelaide City, was retained.
Keep it simple - 11 x 3 = 33
Canberra
Wollongong
South melbourne
Tasmanian team
In that order
Big opportunity with the tassie one imo

The fat controller has to ****ing go.
Stubbins is a Muppet no doubt about it but this fat **** should have no say in team selections at all
What I see as a huge problem with these sackings and Carney's case is it's obvious the only reason they're not "mutually terminating" Carney is because he has an extra year to run on his contract. Having a guess, that'd say to me that Tinkler will never again sign anyone for more than one season - as he'll want his players to be disposable if given the chance. Not only will this be frustrating as we won't be able to tie players down long-term, but I daresay it'll make it difficult when negotiating for incoming players.
Although in saying all that, they DID sign Boogard until the end of 17/18 :rof:
Trialling Antelmi? That slipped under the radar... he's a decent prospect. Was at Wigan when they did their massive cull, let go the entire reserve/youth set up, basically. Was at Leeds youth before that.
Could be a great little coup if we actually sign him.
Anyone heard of Luke Gearing?
So NXFM just said we have signed Lucas Neill on a 2 year deal starting next season.
Any club people on here confirm that?
Heads about to explode.
u got played homie
although this is the kind of sick stuff the club would actually do irl
references to the signage/protest, no pics though

The Member and Plague revisit the Middleby OUT thread.

But I remember being told that Middleby wasn't doing anything, it was all Palmer.
And Plague, I too was an advert advocate of Middleby Out too :soapbox:
