Mine's longer :rof:
Some ball from Smith finally
Yewww
Fmd...Pad Thai is lean with the cards.
Where does UAE number 13 play? He would kill the A-League... He is their standout!
Holy shit that is a massive win! 6 points when Japan lost 1st up, we are in the box seat!
6pts
Great platform to go on with this now.
Banana skin composted.
Does anyone else think Tim fouled the UAE defender before he scored? He clearly pushes him to give himself 1-2 meters which was enough for him to get the tap in..
Stoked for the win, but looked obvious as fk.
Tim Cahill is arguably the grubbiest striker in football. If you focus solely on him, even red button (lol) his past games particularly for the Socceroos, there is rarely a moment he isn't extremely manhandling the opposition defender. But he's smart enough to get away with it, everytime. I always find it hilarious when Tim is on the ground or walking away from what he thinks is a foul to him, with his arms up and that look of desperation on his face - mostly because he's usually just spent the last 10 minutes dragging the defender around by his shirt.
Don't get me wrong, I love the bloke and love that he's OUR grub, but man is he a grubby player! :rof:
Just had a look at the table and our upcoming fixtures. Our next 2 games are massive. Away to Saudi, home to Japan.
If we can beat Japan, we're putting ourselves in a really nice position so early.
4 points in those 2 games and we'd be looking very, very good.
Rudan was talking about that post game. Definitely a foul, but you see that going on in corners and free kicks all the time form defenders and not being pulled up.
The defender was twice his size though, he shouldn't have been so easily pushed around.
We are finally learning that you do what you can to win at this level - only a crime if you get caught and we have been naive for decades. Think Maradona, Henry, Suarez, Robben and other "grubs".
Feigning injury, wasting time, demanding yellow cards, diving and penalties etc.
Foul - hell yeah, but who cares?
Saw this written elsewhere, I didn't realise we had such a great record:
Quote:
Australia's last loss in a competitive World Cup Qualifier played in Australia came in May 1981 against New Zealand. Since then Australia has a record of 43 wins, 8 draws and 1 loss in World Cup qualifiers played at home.
The one loss was against China in a meaningless dead-rubber game, when Australia had already qualified for the next round with a game to spare and put the Olyroos out for a warm-up game prior to the Beijing Olympics.
This includes matches against Argentina, Uruguay, Iran, Japan, Scotland, Israel and Canada, as well as smaller OFC and AFC nations.
