From what I've been told Lawrie is only there to hold Labi's shirt whenever his team scores.

Tues 11th July v Weston
Wed 19th July v Magic
Wed 2nd Aug v Olympic
3 games prior to our FFA Cup game, one who is playing in the compeition.
I think it's great!
I think these two lines from Merrick are exactly why, and I totally agree.
“I am looking forward to observing the local NPL players and hopefully the lads from Weston, Broadmeadow and Hamilton are excited by the opportunity also, because you never know when a player with potential may pop up."
“It’s important for us to start playing competitive friendlies against local sides that are match fit and eager to impress,” he said.
NPL teams are almost as strong as the majority of A-League teams at this point in the season, and if any NPL teams are serious about wanting to be a part of a national second tier, then these kind of games should always be encouraged
Less than two weeks training this is a great way to slowly ramp up, then get an FFA Cup game in and build from there.
Hopefully squad will be finalised during this fortnight.
Nothing better than a winter's night at Stade de Bear.

Where have we heard this before?!!??!?!

If we don’t get the first one, we will get the second one, if not, the third.
Would rather try to unearth more gems from the Sth Australian NPL, but I guess a Sth American will have to do :/
Would rather them chase Burns hard then eventually look to a foreign no.10 ideally before the seasons starts. We would then have 4 or so proven goal scorers in this league amongst our frontline. We had a quality foreign no.10 in Leonardo and the "hardworking newy" crowd rubbished him because he didn't track back. Add him to this current squad and he'd be the missing link in providing the creativity.
I read that Adelaide are working very hard to bring in Burns and Mauk. They would seem a much better option football wise but Adelaide is a pretty boring place. Not getting my hopes up on Burns coming back to us.
One of the other teams just signed some dude.
I'd be disappointed if we signed Burns as a marquee. He's better than average for sure but he's not marquee material either on the pitch or off it.

Is this before or after we get the tram or the Spanish steps in Newcastle Mall?
Looks like another State election is on the horizon, time to circle jerk some 'consultants' to sell the idiots some hope.
WSW have signed a La Liga striker
Why we not shopping there??
Castro isn't a mug
Yet we looking for shit ****s
Oriel Riera. His record is rubbish. But hey he's Spanish so I guess he'll automatically tear the league apart. It's a shame he turned up to Wanderers pre-season late though, not sure if the club will recover from that. And if you know exactly who Merrick is targeting, please enlighten us all.
Oriel Riera has scored against Real Madrid. If that's not good enough people here are deluded. He will be brilliant in the a-league
I hope he is not
I would rather we started looking to Spain for players rather than finding 3rd or 4th rate Brazilians and palming them off as talented
Castro was a run of the mill La Liga and 2nd division player
Look at the breath of fresh air this bloke is to the comp
Nah let's not look for Spanish players as they obviously have NFI about football
FMD
I don't know what Spiders gambling debts has got to do with anything.
I agree with him. Not saying Totti is a bad player, was good and still is, but in a League such as the A League where you need to "work" does not suit his style of play. It is not so much the player but the style of play that suits that you should be looking at.
MFKS logic:
Every future Sth American/Central American will be 3rd/4th rate rubbish, and won't go near what Fred or Carlos Hernandez did for the league, yet every Spaniard will be the next Diego Castro. Righto.
In the same breath that you're arguing Spaniards breathe new life into our league, you're having a dig about signing more Brazilians because we'll be pretending they're talented. Deadset you're an idiot.
