Overnight, the "Newcastle United JETS" facey page would seem to suggest otherwise..
What the FVCK was that all about?????

I've paid barely any attention to that page ever, but after reading that I have happily clicked unlike. Whoever runs that page (or at least, whoever posted that Iran stuff), I hope you're reading this - you're a disc race. Esad.
Every Iranian supporter I encountered were great people and were just happy to be there. They filled my train at Hornsby and were excited, vibrant yet still polite at all times. One of the guys on my carriage was king of the selfie stick, which got a bit annoying but apart from that I have nothing but glowing things to say about all the fans I saw.
In regards to them saying the Iran players play-act and dive and stuff - I thought Qatar were the main culprits at that last night. But anyway..
Iran look like they are going to be very tough to beat. They seem to have the best defence in the comp and are pretty handy up front, kid who scored the goal looks very good.
UAE look good too but i don't think they have overall quality. That number 10 is going to be a pretty special player though.
Japan, Iran and Australia really do just look a class above the rest. As good as some individual players are in other teams, i just cannot see any team but one of these three winning the final.
I reported the page. It only has 100 odd likes so it'd be no great loss if it does get taken down. I expect whoever runs it will be upset, but that's about it.
As much as I loved the atmosphere and crowd of Iran, I wasn't overly impressed with their team tbh. When (if) Australia play against them, I can see us out-muscling them something fierce - Qatar did a decent enough job of it last night. We look WAY more lethal attacking-wise than they do. I'll tip a relatively cruisy victory for us if we get drawn against them.
Japan are a different story IMO - I'm scared of them.
straya is by far and away the fittest team in this competition
japan are maybe underdone (doubt it though) but that may be because of the opposition - iran looked shagged at the end of last night
I'm finding it hard to judge Japan. I wasn't overly impressed with them in Newcastle but i assuming they barely got out of 1st gear. We obviously all know what they are capable of but i don't think their game against Palestine would help them. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a draw and drop points in one of their 2 remaining group matches.
In saying all of that, you don't the world cup in the first group game.
You're not wrong - Japan weren't tested v Palestine.
There were times they could have played pretty lethal balls out wide, but treated it like a training run and tried to force the ball into areas of high-pressure to work on their one-touch plays, tiki-taka stuff. They were just casually testing their limits v Palestine, whilst avoiding injury.
China are a bit of a smokey fitness wise also. Bit hard to judge fuklly at present but they have a lot of yoof and there fitness has been vastly superior despite playing unfit opponents.
Maybe not at our level but they are one of the fitter sides
Uzbeks shit me. They have the talent to be a bigger fish in Asia but the fitness/professionalism/ mindset is missing big time
If Australia lose to Korea and finish 2nd in their group, but then advance to the Semi-Finals is the match guaranteed to be played in Newcastle or is there some by-rule I have yet to find which allows them to switch the venues? I have seen this occur in other tournaments around the world to ensure the host nation plays in the larger stadium in the preferred timeslot.
