Here's the rules and regs - Page 43. Taffy seems to be across them, if others are unsure they should read them, it is only one and a bit pages for finals eligibility. https://www.northernnswfootball.com....mpetitions.pdf
My interpretation.
Highest percentage of matches played in a grade is the lowest you can play for finals. (E50 1a)
The highest grade you started for in a round is considered the grade you played that round. (E50 1b)
If you were a bench player and didn't get on (and didn't play other grades in the round), then you didn't play that week. (E50 3)
The thing is that none of this is policed. Unless you have access to the opposing teams stats, there’s no way you can pull anyone up on it unless it’s obvious.
The other side of it, if you have three grades in the finals there’s no exception. Which is wild because your teams are already stretched. There needs to be some commonsense applied as no clubs with all grades are going to play higher grade players in lower teams. The rules applied block players from being able to get a shirt.
[QUOTE=Taffy;275807]I copied and pasted the actual rules which says percentage, and they count games started as the game they played in.
Taffy, understand and agree what it says, I also read that, but i was told by the hierarchy that the % are a bit skewed and if you went onto the Admin side of squaddie, you could see that better.
I think it's a Squaddie system fault, which squaddie has plenty of faults in it.
In the end, it is what it is, just hope everyone is around it and no-one gets caught out.
Happy finals weekend to all.
Surely this won't be the case, because it would mean more than 15 players have started in the higher grade for a majority of their games across the year.
Been like this in NL1 and NPL for a long time, don't think any player has ever missed out because of eligibility only through coaches choice.
Anyone up for some predictions?
suns will be fired up from their embarrassing defeat against Olympic and I expect them to win 5-0
Cardiff uni is tricky. I rate both teams and think Cardiff will win it 3-1
Suns 3-2 1 Red each win in ET.
Cardiff 3-2 in ET.
I understand your confusion, let me elaborate my point.
I believe it's embarrassing because:
- final game of the season
- playing rivals Olympic
- Olympic only promoted in 2023
- Suns were basically full strength (minus the keeper)
- Olympic apparently missing 5 key first grade players (I heard this from a mate, someone from the club could dispute this if I'm off)
- bitter rivals Dudley breathing down their necks
- they only needed 1 point to seal the premiership and promotion
So it's not the loss to Olympic but the context and implications of losing which makes it embarrassing IMO... I think Suns will be ready to make things right and with the quality in their squad (IMO the best team in the comp) they could be deadly.
Also this is my 100th post on the forums so feel free to congratulate me for my service if you get a chance
I think there was a feeling from most on here (not lofty and the suns camp to be fair) that for weeks now the premiership and promotion was a forgone conclusion and the fact Dudley pipped them on the final day came as a shock to everyone. In isolation a loss away at Islington park is not an embarrassing result at all and could happen to any team in the comp.
Congrats on the tonne bud. Your most deluded post yet.
Despite Olympics second year in ZL1, they have spent accordingly and brought in quality former NPL product. Taking points on the final match day at Islington was always going to be a tough ask. Conceding a goal against the opposing goalkeeper didn?t help the situation either.
All things considered, I believe Suns will get their revenge, winning by a goal in a tight one tomorrow.
Cardiff will over power Uni at home.
3rds uni fight back from 2 down to beat suns in pens
Res suns prevail in pens after 1 all full time both goals were scrappy
1st suns get revenge
Are both suns 1st n res keepers injured for the season 3rd grade keeper played 2 games n res striker played again in goals for 1sts
Elimination Finals
1sts Cardiff 1(7)- Uni 1(8)
Res Cardiff 0- Mayfield 1
Thirds WBay 1- Kotara 3
I love some of the banter on here most times , but you my friend are the worst.
Ps as a nuetral , it was a typical semi final slog. Very tough conditions with the heat , hard ground and the wind. Physical at times and both teams with good chances to win it. Especially Cardiff hitting the crossbar twice in last 2 mins.
You sound like my wife, telling me what would have happened...
In the river, games finished around 450ish pm, then we packed up the ground, drove home, plugged the old laptop in, checked a few emails, clicked on the forum and shit, Uni had already posted, so they beat me to it.
This is my routine after 95% of our games, just this week's went longer and got home a little bit later.
No one is touchy, and as Luke Littler said good tough game, both gave it their all...bring on 2025
are we finished now?
Should be some good games down at Dudley today. What?s everyone?s predictions
1st Dudley 2-1 Suns
Res Dudley 1-0 Suns
3rds Dudley 3-1 Uni
All 3 grades Dudley yeeeew
So can Dudley simply try and get youth for next season or do NNSW only have a certain amount if youth licences available?. If Dudley are not allowed to have youth they are basically playing for survival in Northern League 1 and they cannot be promoted. Sounds like a stupid system to me especially with no GF in Northern League 1
