ala HAL in 2005/06, lots of running but no idea how to keep it :rof:

i hope they play really high up the park so Boogaard gives away free kicks instead of penalties.
if guessing i say we'll finish better than last year though.
Duncan numero uno...... How many assists has he got?
Vuko-boetch to Sh!tney.

5 HAL clubs up his sleeve now. Has anyone got more since 05/06?
Reddy...wow. Must be the winner with 7 clubs.
And how's his team mate at Paramatta Power.
Gaurav Kapoor - 1 match and 675 goals...er runs!!!
An amazing average for a defender :woo:
Miller's recruitment has a moneyball feel to it... the team did seem to pick up last late last year once Uga and Nordstrand found their feet. No x-factor signings, but without the pressure on one or two players to carry us, I have some faith in Miller that he's putting together a fairly effective and competitive side, and one that will slowly get better each season. That may not appease some people who want immediate success, but once he has his style, plus a reliable core of players bedded into the squad that he can build around, I think the quality of signings will also improve. It's similar to how the Mariners structured their side for the first 6-8 years. I don't remember too many big signings over that time, but they found a solid group, kept them together, and then only needed to add a couple of useful, if not flashy signings here and there each season to continue giving the title a good shout.
I like the type of player we are targeting this season but i feel we are still going to be 2-3 signings short of top 4. I'm not slagging these players but i feel we could be doing better than poljak at defensive mid, pavicevic, brennan and, as much as i hate to say it, cooper.
Absolutely. We still aren't a complete side. I just don't think the club are going to dump every player they aren't keen on - which I'm fine with. I don't want the club to develop a reputation for paying out contracts for every non-performing player. It's a slower process of waiting for contracts to finish (with the exception of mutual releases), and replacing those players when they can.
Plus as a Man United fan, it's a tough gig staying optimistic about signing the likes of Andrew Nabbout and Wayne Brown, while also getting excited about Pogba, Zlatan, Mkhi etc wearing red this season on the other side of the world :rof:.
Dylan murnane trialling with wanderers.
Perth have somehow found some mare space in the salary cap and signed Rostyn Griffiths again
Makes you wonder how they can keep signing players but anyway
Vadcocz wouldn't have been cheap.
Most of their squad is injured players/failed players coming back to their home town to prove a point/rebuild a career.
Wish we were half as ambitious in our signings.
You don't think? I obviously mean their off season recruits, not most of their squad.
Williams has played maybe 5 games in what seems like an eternity. Class player but he's injury prone and a significant risk. He's also from Perth so yeah, I think he fits into the category of an injured player going back to his home town to rebuild a career.
Herd - long term injuries since the dawn of time. Last season was the first time he played more than 20 games in a year in 5 seasons. He's not from Perth but yeah, I think he fits into the category of an injured player coming to rebuild a career.
Lowry - Unwanted at Championship level. Returning home to Perth, where he is from.
Taggart - a stellar career at Fulham with his none thousand and none appearances. From Perth, returning, etc etc.
Need I go on? These aren't current Socceroos who are going to be demanding mega bucks. They are past stars or unfulfilled potential.
And don't forget, they have an extra million in the cap they get from having Marc Warren in the line up.
I don't think Rhys is there to "rebuild" his career. He's a Socceroo coming towards the end of his career but with plenty to offer. Extremely versatile and a good pick up for any club.
Was Lowry unwanted?
Agree re Taggart. Herd played 23 games last season in League 1.
Griffiths is a bloody handy HAL level player. Same as Taggart.
To suggest that their recruitment at HAL level is anything but impressive is ridiculous IMO
Where have I said it wasn't impressive? I was only making comment regarding people going "how the **** do they fit all these stars in the salary cap?"....?
They have won the off season, easily. Will make for an interesting set up though, not a great deal of width.
Also, Williams is 28. If he wasn't almost permanently injured, he would be in the prime of his career and still a good 5-8 years off the end of his career.
Bruce Djite off to Suwon FC
chris herd's contract been terminated.....watch this space
Not really. He has had difficulty with his family and relocation so they are staying in England, aren't they?
It's not like he's going to another team.
Or is he?

Strange, did his missus really not fancy a move to Perf?? Send her pics of Newcastle, it might be a bit more appealing... ;)
Saw the other day when Troisi signed for Victory that it was mentioned on SM that in season 2013/14 when he played for them he scored 12 goals and provided 9 assists....very impressive stats!
The Newcastle Jets win 50% of their games when conceding 13 corners in a match.
If we go out there and concede exactly 13 corners every match we will get between 39 and 42 points which will see us fight for 6th spot.
Exactly where Miller thinks we'll be. No wonder he's a stats guru he's got it all sorted out.
Henrique apparently wants to go back to Roar. I wouldn't be too dissapointed if we made a bid for him if that was the case.
