The amount of money in the Chinese Leagues nowadays virtually rules out the possibility of being able to get a decent enough player and still fit him under the cap. Maybe Miller and McKinna have been able to convince Mr Lee of the realities of this, hence the talks with Church.

Don't understand why having "similar" players in the squad is a concern. We saw last year with Labi getting injured early on how it affects the depth. Would rather we go into a season with strong competition for starting XI spots and having a bench with experience and good options rather then what we had last season.
We've not had a depth in attacking options, I'd argue, since Season 2 when we had Griffiths, Rodriguez, Coveny and Bridge.
I guess if we are looking at Church, what are the other options, aside from not pursuing a Chinese development player?
* Nordstrand - is his injury worse than we think? I saw him looking OK yesterday despite playing for the 2nd team at training.
* Brown - Unlikely he is going to go after just signing for us
* Poljak - Could he be on the move? We have a lot of coverage in the midfield! I wouldn't like that if I'm honest - unless we make a run at James Holland as well (but I don't think we have the room to).
