Should be a great day next Saturday!!
No real surprises with the gf fixtures, best teams in each grade made it except for kahibah upsetting wallsend. Kahibah took advantage of a poor performance from wallsend. Should be a cracking day
Big effort from the bay on Saturday against suburbs.. down to 10 men after keeper was sent of 20 minutes into the game, reserve keeper saved pen..
the last 10 minutes of the first leg killed us in the end!!
What was score in terrace v wallsend yesterday?
2-1, we lead most of the game after getting an early goal, was a typical finals match with a lot of hard challenges throughout the game. We gave away a penalty with 20 to go, IMO was not a penalty, any hoo was given. A lot of relief on the Wallsend boys faces. They scored again with 5 to go through scrappy work in the box.
Sets up for a good GF next week with Suburbs.
Wasn't a penalty? You're 'avin a laff.
Did he get the ball at all? Was he close? Nope
Did he impede the player from moving past him? In which case our bloke is in a clear position to score? He sure does.
If you miss the player, you have to get out of his way or concede the FK.
I was the lucky keeper at that stage it was a clear penalty ranger09 sad to say, the only reason it wasn't a second yellow is cause the wallsend player wouldn't of got to the ball it was going out huge touch
I wasn't in a position to see if it was going out, so I'll take your word for it.
I was facing the other way screaming for the ref to give it haha.
Well I didn't complain about it's think our sweeper was the only guy to complain about it so that tells a story haha
Also, if you're the keeper gny, funniest part of the moment was at your expense haha (sorry to bring it up).
When you thought the ballboy was one of our players, and that we had two standing on a corner in the second half. You were going off your tree! Haha. Everyone else was confused.
Had a quick glance and I thought **** as usual no one has looked at short corner but wasn't to be haha,
God I hate soccer leading 1-0 needing 1 goal than it all gets thrown taken away haha
From where I was standing our player looked to have planted himself and your player ran into him, if it had been another one of our players the ref may have had second thoughts about blowing a pen, however seeing as how this player had fouled numorus times throughout the game the ref had no hesitation in giving it.
Will get different opinions depending on where you are on the field, was disapointing none the less.
I don't think I have played in a team before where so many penalties have been given away In a season along with players sent off, was a very up and down season, but good effort from our boys to gain promotion from ZL2 and make the semis this year. In the end not far off getting into the GF.
Amish how did your team pull up? Surface was pretty hard and a pretty physical game was played, I have pulled up sore, sort of glad I don't have to play this weekend as may not have been right to play any way. Was wondering how other people have faired after the game?
9 reds and something like 7 pens hahaha
That's 1st grade lol
Couldn't pick the one on the weekend :(
If the suburbs guys are watching and listening. We're fine! Rearing to go! Be afraid! Be very afraid!
Seriously? Struggling. A couple of hard games against tough opposition really takes it out of you. No excuses though. We'll pep up.
Thank god this is back!!!!
GF TIME and we are pretty pumped and ready to go, all though we were having a lot of fun and games at training tonight as everyone can barely get passed a jog ranger!! Haha.
Thanks for the season though lads, all top lads
Speak for yourself. That warmup was my top speed. And that was an exaggerated power walk.
What happened to the pitch there at Wallsend??
start of the season it was in good order and plenty of people fapping on here about how good it is..
I had a walk on it before our reserves played and it was rock hard
I didn't think it was that bad? One of the better ones in our comp haha
Nelson bay field probably retained it's 'goodness' the best over the year in my opinion.
I know gardo poured a new slab midway through the season.
Wallsend only grouted.
We were lucky to get on suburbs pretty early on in the year. It had a decent grass coverage at the time,
Bay need our surface at terrace and we need there viewing area haha
The pitch in the last few weeks has hardened up some , probably due to the driest winter on record which hasn't helped , the tide does come into play as well so we need to be careful not too overwater it , probably one area we didn't give too much attention unfortunately , it was watered the week before but with the dry winds it didn't help , Raymond terraces pitch by far is the bench mark , personally viewing areas don't come into play on where the pitch rates :)
Nuguns says it true, it ventures away from the imperial system and it's Si Unit is Gns.
However, different from most units in the metric system, it's all relative to an original state.
If I was to refer to the three fields mentioned in my previous post, all three would start with 1Gns.
As the season has progressed to this point, I would rate the three as follows:
Nelson Bay: 800mGns
Wallsend: 650mGns
Gardo: 89μGns
Once the season has finished the measurement is reset to 1Gns and the rating becomes higher as the field improves, resets for the new season etc.
ZL1 gf's
1st Wallsend 3-1 Surbz.
res Surbz on pens
3rd kotara 3-1 kahiba
ground had fair bit of goodness
Surely you jest, the bumpiest pitch I have ever seen, go the burbs, good job gal
Geez, difficult to get your head around, when my line of work has me usually dealing with 'metric ****tonnes.'
I guess it also allows for grounds to be compared at any time, if you create an updated, standardized register of field condition at the resetting of the periods. They would only have to be updated twice a year.
Example: Three grounds stated above have an initial rating of 7, 8 and 6 - respectively (out of 10 say).
At seasons end, we apply the Gns factor to compare the grounds current state, giving us the modified rating of 5.6, 5.2 and 0.00534.
We should look into this.
Precisely dude. I was thinking about this when I was partaking in my pregame dump yesterday.
We should look into what an optimal fields conditions would be, with soil humidity, grass properties, size, capacity to block the afternoon sun etc. Then work out, relative to each of those values, how positive and negative variations effect the initial rating, then the how variations, as the season progresses, effects the goodness ratio.
Maybe I should have thought about the game instead...
pre-game dumps are the best dumps.
Just want to say thanks to Sean Clerke for the elbow to the face on Saturday, it really gave me the edge and I believe was the turning point in the game. Cheers.
Oh and p.s. I now have an addiction to codeine :) I'll send you the bill later
