Need a left back, especially if Goodwin goes, other than that my only wish is for a centre back like madaschi, bosnar or maybe kisnorbo (if he could stay fit) to turn our defence into less of a laughing stock.
Victory have released;
Diogo Ferreira
Spase Dilevski
Tando Velaphi
Sam Gallagher
dilevski would be a handy player to have in the squad
Rumour mill has Matt Simon returning from Korea to sign for Wanderers. He first approached scum and they said not interested so with Kresinger not being re-signed, he seems like the perfect fit to play that donkey role up front.
Jurman confirmed back to Sydney
Labi and Trifiro re-signed for next year with Wanderers
Should we be chasing David Carney in effort to get his career back on track ?
Yus, got our man! Joey Gibbs signs with the Jets!!!!!!!

Quote:
The Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets have signed striker Joey Gibbs for the 2013/14 A-League season.
Gibbs joins the Jets after making 13 appearances and scoring two goals for A-League Premiers Western Sydney Wanderers during the 2012/13 season.
After coming through the Sydney FC youth team, Gibbs made his senior A-League debut as a substitute for the Sky Blues in the 2009/10 Grand Final against the Melbourne Victory.
The 20-year-old has also previously had stints with New South Wales Premier League Clubs Manly United and Marconi Stallions.
“I’m very excited to have signed with Newcastle,” Gibbs said.
“Newcastle is a football town and I’m looking forward to playing in front of these fans.”
Jets CEO Robbie Middleby said the signing of Gibbs would bolster the Jets’ forward line, which already features former English Premier League strikers Emile Heskey and Michael Bridges as well as Young Socceroo Adam Taggart.
“Joey adds a bit of extra depth to our squad, especially in the attacking third,” Middleby said.
“Although he’s only young, Joey has experience at A-League level from his time spent with Western Sydney Wanderers last season and also from having played in a Grand Final with Sydney FC.
“We’re pleased he has decided to join the Jets and everyone at the Club is looking forward to working with him over the course of the coming season.”
Gibbs said part of the appeal of joining the Jets was the chance to learn from the likes of Heskey and Bridges on a daily basis.
“Some of the boys at this club who play in the position I’m in, such as Heskey, Bridges and players like that, I can learn from them and the experience they have will help me,” Gibbs said.
“I’m 20 years old and everyday at training I’m looking to learn. If I’m surrounded by players like that, with the experience they have, I really think I’ll grow.”
Gibbs will link up with his new teammates at training this week before flying out to Singapore as part of a 10-man Jets squad that will compete in the Singapore Soccer Sixes tournament this weekend.

“It will be good fun and a good opportunity to get to know the boys and know what Gary wants for this season,” Gibbs said.
“Even though it’s a six-a-side tournament, I’m sure we’ll be competing seriously and trying to win, so it should be very enjoyable.”
Not a bad signing, was quite good when he got a run for wanderers, made intelligent runs, good link up play but I do hope this is the last 'inexperienced' signing. Doubt it tho
:rof: when joey was about 14 I told him he'd play for the jets one day. no one, including him, believed me. I is genius
I really don't ****ing care any more
Gary Out
This is a ****ing disgraceful signing. I think the bloke ain't HAL material and we are throwing away a spot on our roster for a bloke that ain't wanted elsewhere. Absolute disgrace that our useless manager isn't showing faith in a Newy lad in Kale to step up but signs some bloke to clog up our NYL team.
The people in charge of our club are dead set ****wits if they are fobbing this off as a signing
Find me the cyanide tablets:bs::banghead::mad:
I agree with MFKS,
It seems like Gary has some weird pride about having young players no matter how average they are.
Sign a known decent player ffs.
seems like a pretty pointless signing. we ditch jesic and replace him with a guy who couldn't get a run ahead of dino kresinger.
is also a gypo.
great day for the club.
Right, so given we have Heskey, Bridges, Virgilli, Goodwin, Taggart, that top creative midfielder we want, a top winger, where the **** does Gibbs fit into this?
Waste of a spot and the new Jesic.
I guess the idea is a Taggart/Gibbs strikeforce when Heskey and Bridges leave at the end of the season.
Time will tell....again.
gibbs :rof:
gve :rof:
jets
GVE might be trying the reverse of what poppa did with the fringe players we released last year.
GVE, it's the coach that made it work for poppa, not the players.
Building for the season after next, sounds like something GVE would do.
Can't get bosnar cause he's too expensive, here's an idea aus marquee, decent players do cost money, but never mind we can waste salary cap and squad spot on Gibbs.
Why not just promote the newy boy in Kale to the first team, he's even younger then Gibbs, GVE must have wanted an experienced player so opted for Gibbs.
Gibbs the new Jesic, worse then the old one, at least Jesic was no gypo.
This club just keeps on pushing me to not renew my memberships.

Until GVE gets the boot I will never watch or attend another Jets game
Already done. payment plan cancelled and unsubscribed from jets emails weeks ago. Will be a long long time since i would have brushed jets home games.
Watch on Fox that way when GvE produces the very same diatribe he continues to serve up the channel can be changed.
This signing will only make any sense if the remaining recruits are the exceptional imports or overseas Aussies we have chraved but sadly rarely had. By the way I've already decided to go back to playing cricket and only attending games when I feel like it.
I agree with this too. GVE brought a heap of kids in last year that were no better than what we already had Pepper, Regan for example. Why would you need to sign another baby midfielder. Kale does deserve a chance and Hooley looks like he will be a gem. I'm sick of whinging about his guy. I have cancelled my family membership too and am just going to have the year off until they get someone who knows what they're doing.
My man, the good Member, makes a great point.
Exactly what is the point of Jets youth etc when we won't give the kids a chance but then sign other people's kids who aren't wanted?
Middleby out. ****ing disgrace.
Anyone else looking forward to Kale signing for the Victory/Roar in 18 months time?
Without any smart ass answers... Why the **** wouldn't we try and sign Liam miller? Honestly..
lol
My first thoughts when I heard the news were:
1. Marko Jesic
2. Chris Payne
3. Jason Naidovski
4. Brodie Mooy
5. Sean Rooney
Followed by:
6. Why did we release Labi last season only to sign someone who is rated less by Wanderers?
7. What about Kale?
That said I can't really recall watching this Gibbs guy play, best of luck to him.
i saw glimpses of gibbs back when he played nswpl for manly & i was really highly anticipating where he'd end up - he was great for such a young age back then. tbh i didn't get to see a heap of him for the wanderers, so have no idea how to judge this as a signing.
i will make a prediction though - before the end of next season, we will have signed alex read again (but to a senior contract this time). i eagerly anticipate the member's reaction to this when it happens

It's been reported that Kale will get the nod this year, we'll see. If so that will be 2 extra kids we have on the roster. Next coach will be Peter File.
We have 2 youth teams and a priest at the helm....
