I think we're saying the same thing.
Either way, someone is having a laugh.

For the most part yeah you’re correct.
For a 14 yr old girl, nah. There’s way more too it.
The interesting thing about all this is her parents have been pretty anonymous. I’d love to know their role in pushing this kid out there into the social media space.
Also it cracks me up the lack of parenting with this stuff. The amount of Plague Jnrs friends that have Facebook Instagram etc, let alone phones is pretty amazing (he’s 8).
When it was all going on he asked if he could be part of it but we said no, sat him down and explained why not*. He accepted it and hadn’t brought it up since.
Kids are smart, and reasonable for the most part. It’s mostly parents who are the real weak ones. Young kids don’t ‘need’ all that shit. But plenty of parents just cave because it saves a fight or makes them look like legends in the school playground.
*was also easy due to me not being on any social media platform. Saves me looking like a hypocrite. seriously Facebook users are the ****ing worst.
as for the tennis players.
Seriously, if you get personally offended by the behaviour of someone you don’t know, have never, or will never meet, nor the behaviour affecting you in any way shape or form it says more about you than the player.
There is so much jealousy surrounding those 2 blokes. You want to write Bernie’s wrongs? Pick up a racquet and start hitting. You’ll get there in no time, then you can be nice as pie to all those around you that are begging you to fail.
Bernie is doing exactly what we all wanted that 14yr old to do. Ignore he haters.
Why can’t we celebrate the bloke for standing up for himself?
Agree some parents want shooting - also social media should have some controls. Kids can't get PS4 accounts under 18 - social media should not kick in till 16 at least.
Oh and another thing, when you kiddies go to bed at night turn all your phones off ffs - the next person who complains of getting texts at all hours cops a gobful.
I have a Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin but only because business dictates I do. Information feeds from groups you like are fine but the personal "look at me" shit on there just kills it.
I did an experiment last year and turned off birthday notification - I did not get a single birthday wish or call that day, even from long time friends and family who should know. My sister said "not my fault, it didn't show on Facebook".......ffs.
PREACH!
I still don't comprehend a text/message/email being lampooned for the time of sending. It's not a phone call, not something that needs switching off, it's non-conflicting. We all live in a world where we're routinely checking these things anyway, I don't understand the people with the seemingly non-ability to prioritise these non-conflicting messages and answer/absorb/etc at a time suitable for them.
If I send an email at 3am it doesn't make it any less relevant or whatever than one at say 10am, but the response and replies I get are disturbingly contrasting - sometimes it's as if any email sent/received before 9am is ignored. If I send a clearly non-urgent message on say facebook, I can't comprehend the "why would you send this at this hour? It's too late/early, I won't be able to check/reply until later". If it's labelled as urgent, sure, address it that way (but at least from me, most know I wouldn't send an actually conflicting message that required urgency thru that method anyway, nor should anyone really). But for things clearly not in dire need of immediate response I can't respect how the time of sending is addressed tbh.
Turning off notifications, silent mode, etc is far too easy to implement nowadays, so I find the time of sending those kinds of messages completely irrelevant and it moreso reflects the receivers inability to cope and prioritise socially as the issue imo.
Maybe I'm being ignorant with these views, and maybe I'm less against timings etc of things because being a parent and needing to have your wits about you pretty quickly immediately after waking, or working locally and there's no morning grace period of "not before this time" so it's clock on and anything is immediately fair game, makes me less against this? I dunno.
I love how the tennis chat has been moved here to keep the Tennis Thread for what it REALLY is.
How are they jerks ? Both of them basically sacrificed ever having a normal childhood / life to be professional tennis players. It's not easy. Anyone who thinks these two are lazy khunts blessed with only natural talent to get as far as they have is a complete fool.
While you would have been out having fun with your friends - these kids are training - there is no life away from it. You train, you diet, you recuperate, you play - that's there lives.
The mental pressure / grind is nothing you have ever experienced in your life either. Try watching a little yellow ball moving at 200kmh for 6 hours a day - it does your head in - and is very tiring on both mind and body.
That being the case how frustrating for them would it be for people to be constantly making judgement calls on their personalities with absolutely no idea of what they go through.
I used to run 25km a day when I played just to relax - that might give you an idea how much of a grind the actual training and playing was. By the way - I stopped playing at 14 years old because I'd had enough.
These kids would be doing a lot more than I ever did - they are amazing athletes who deserve respect.
hang on cobber...dont see federer and Jokvic or a host of others in the supposed "tennis is making me a jerk" sport doing this stuff. They all have the same piss weak excuses but hey.
The training and the money comments arent even the problem. they assholes, accept it move on.
Now just in context they arent Apex prix that need a good beating or cereal killer who needs the chair, just morons who need a wake up.
anyway Feds angry ant yoof emo period has been well documented.
Quote:
As a talented young player, Federer’s on-court tantrums and hair-trigger temper once threatened to stunt his progress.
“I had a tough time getting my act together out on court, trying to behave properly. For me that was a big deal,” he admitted.
Quote:
"I was throwing my racket like you can't imagine … I mean, I was getting kicked out of practice sessions when I was 16. I used to talk much more, too, and scream on court."
now, a couple of things here, yes Roger was having his temper issues at a younger age than Nick and Bernie, but i tlooks like his family got around him and pulled his head in. Nick and Berns relos seem to be around when its time to cash those cheques but nowt much else.Quote:
At 17, my family decided that I had to go to a psychologist, because I was so angry on the court.
it is amazing though what some winning will do for your rep.
remember as well, the lil aussie battler Lleyton was out there calling linesmen retards and implying the darkies were all sticking together to gang up on him.
if/when Aussie nick brings home his first major things will be sweet sweet.
also, have you ever seen Roger Federer and the Apex gang in the same room at the same time?
makes you think.......
Federer's problem was more to do with his style of play not so much things happening around him. He used to have a serve and volley type game but the courts he was playing on were not suitable. So he was constantly changing his game and strategies - sometimes it worked and others it didn't - that's where the frustration came from. Once he decided to adopt an all court game he took a lot of the pressure off himself and things started to fall into place for him.
It's a Woman's Day / New Idea Fantasy story that he mellowed because of support from family and so on. He changed his game to become less spectacular but more manageable for himself - that's it.
If Federer were to have been coming up in today's social media climate and faced the same level of shit Kyrios or Tomic have received he would have been destroyed by the media - without a doubt.
Tomic should be praised for getting as far as he has - others who faced similar issues with win at all costs type parents didn't make it this far - like Andrea Jaeger. She tanked a Wimbledon final against Navratilova to stick it to her overbearing khunt of a father.
The media were pretty much oblivious to it for years - though they tell the story now like they knew what really happened. In fact she was clearly the best female player in the world, but she constantly tanked matches to avoid becoming the best player in the world. She was forced into playing the game - and wanted out - ultimately her body was pushed too far and her retirement came at 19 years of age.
Could you imagine what she would have faced in today's social media climate ? The fact her father was destroying her would not have been an issue as long as she was winning, but when the winning stopped the trolls would have come out.
Kyrios, I don't know - his talent is so freakish that I don't think he should be compared with anyone - he's a once in a lifetime talent and I hope people give him space so we can see it fully develop - like they did with Federer.
Summary:
People realised once Jaeger Bombed she was actually tanked
Sure. Feds still didnt treat his country like an ass or did Hewy for that matter.
They channeled their aggression/resentment in a different direction. Umpires like refs are fair game.
kyrio isnt aussie only thinks he is.
I propose a cage fight between tombitch and queerio.
10x 1.5 min rounds so they can pound in short burst and cry in rest times. Tennis racquets allowed for the last 3 rounds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7H9hRR2LiA
Kyrios is 100% Aussie and knows a hell of a lot more about Australian tennis than the clowns doubting him.
lol queerios the pretender was trying to win aussie hearts for a while. True colours shown. sucked in.
Dont like Rafter and defo not into nationalists so youve gone full superdyl there.
Youll have to do better than this or give it away little pretentious hipster lad . Go the watermelon party.
Twits...I miss the days when David Carney was winning Wimbledon..
