Of all players who collapse and pass away on the pitch (or in ambulance on the way to hospital) it's all secondary to heart condition. Sudden death on the pitch is not secondary to cancer .....Congenital / genetic heart conditions are more common than generally recognisedQuote:

If we want to be a professional competition then we should be doing the same thing.
That our club sides and NT set ups have neglected to look into this with Naumoff is a glaring indictment at the levels of professionalism in the game in this country.
Naumoff shouldnt have had to take so long to find out and he shouldn't have had to get a Spanish second division club to do a test.
It should have been done here a while ago

I'm not a doctor, so I'd appreciate someone with a bit more knowledge in the field answering the question, but is it possible that this condition, while genetically present could it not become apparent until the individual has finished growing? Could this explain why it may not have been detected until he is now 20/21?

I have a heart condition as does my mother, aunt, and cousin. Cousin died at 27, mothers been told she will need surgery for past 30 years - she's still ok - no surgery, and Aunt was told she would not live to be 30 years old - she's well into her 70's now.Quote:

Suffice to say though, I've had pretty much every test known to man given my condition and family history.
How my condition was discovered was not from any of these tests - it was when I broke several ribs and it showed up on an x-ray then was confirmed with a ct-scan.
My cousin was tested as well and found to be ok but sure enough an autopsy proved otherwise.
Hence, a lot of this shit comes down to luck - good or bad.

MV foe, Naumoff and others who died on the pitch they have a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy ( abnormal thickening of the heart muscle / usually the septum ). I know Naumoff has got it because I talked to the cardiologist who saw him in Sydney. It's life threatening because of fatal arrhythmia associated with it + can cause obstruction of flow with exercise. They were born with it and and echocardiogram WOULD detect it. Also thorough family medical history and ECG could also help. Implanted defibrilator ( which Naumoff will get) and professional sport not compatible just yet. There are a lot of controversy about testing all professional sportsmen with echocardiogram, more so in the US. Some argue that thorough family medical history and ECG is sufficient enough. My personal opinion is because of relatively low cost (see one of my previous post) echocardiogram should be mandatory at Aleague level. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is not a rare condition, not 100% sure but strongly suspect Ribeiro had it, that's one player of the Jets family, they could be more and autopsy not the best way to find out.Quote:

Being we have had 1 of our former players die and we may have had Naumoff here if he had of came when Devon head wanted out we as a club could have another issue easily
