so i took my g1x to peru with me and it worked a treat. i don't pretend to even mildly comprehend taking good shots atm, so i left the settings on auto the entire time, but i'm still happy with the shots we got. but i am hoping to do some reading & get some practice in & start playing with the awesome functions it has.
here's one of the only ones i've bothered to put on the computer so far, of mr & mrs v4 looking over machu picchu after a 4day hike to get there.

btw - everyone should go there. the country is amazing, we had an unreal time. the 4 day hike left us with the biggest feeling of accomplishment i've ever had, particularly after making it to the top of dead woman's pass on day 2 & when reaching the sun gate on day 4.
