They were kids under 18 and put some grass and dirt in his water bottle as a joke. Not the worst offence ever. There was no proof of alcohol and I hear the kids owned up to pulling the prank and what they put in and denied it was alcohol.
Eagles a little salty they dropped points
Watched Adamstown verse cooks hill tonight in what I think will be the only game all weekend. Adamstown very impressive and very comfortable , things aren?t looking too bad over that way. For cooks hill however , woeful performance and some of the worst football I?ve seen from them for quite some time, Nancarrow leaving seems to have really ruffled things up.
edgy Valo started out pretty even. wtf happened
Edgeworth are the clear bench mark this season. Defensively sound, potent in attack.
Magic used a get out of jail free card today. Wondering if there was any brown paper bags exchanged between them and the referee.
Olympic have been highly underwhelming considering their recruitment drive. Btw where is O?Donovan?
Watching from Youtube, Edgy came out firing quickly in that second half and looked like they were scoring with every attack. Quality finishes and a well worked set piece routine sealed the game by the 50th.
some quality finishing in that game. Wonder if they can keep that up
Roy injured along with Hay and Wells yesterday.Refereeing was ok as a neutral observer.
Valo new coach. Things just got much worse. Mark my words.
Cas Wright could be the first woman to coach in NPL Men Northern NSW after taking on the first-grade role at Valentine this week.
Wright is the club?s technical director and was assistant coach of premier football before replacing Kallan Garbett this week.
Valentine Football Club said in a press release Garbett had vacated the head coaching position due to work commitments and Wright had been appointed in the position on an interim basis for the remainder of the season.
?Valentine FC would like to thank Kal for his dedicated service to the club over many years,? the release said.
?His passion for the Phoenix and dedication to our cause will be sorely missed.?
Wright has extensive coaching experience and qualifications and is the only female first-grade coach in the NPL men?s competition, and to Northern NSW Football?s knowledge is the first.
?The club?s position is we?re not looking for a male or female coach, we?re looking for the best coach and were lucky enough to have Cas, who has an A licence,? Valentine Football Club secretary Rob Lavell told the Newcastle Herald.
?She?s one of the most qualified coaches in the region and we?ve got her to fill the void.
?If it is a fact that she is the first female coach, unreal, and Valentine has a very strong appetite to promote and grow women?s football.
?We?ve just added JDL [junior development league] teams to the mix in 2025, and in the future we?re hoping to further build out our representation of women?s football in the premier competitions, but no current plans.?
Wright, who previously coached in Northern NSW Football?s top-flight women?s competition at Valentine and South Wallsend, is looking forward to the challenge.
?It will definitely be a challenge and there will be more scrutiny on me than there would be on anyone else, and that?s unfortunate,? Wright said.
?Whether it?s a male or female coach, it should be just a coach. That?s just part of the territory. Without resilience, you can?t progress.?
Phoenix are coming off a 7-1 loss to second-placed Edgeworth last Sunday and face another big test on Saturday against Charlestown, who are in a three-way tussle for third spot, at Croudace Bay (4.30pm).
?The group trained really well this week with the news of Kal, we were all shocked by that,? Wright said.
?Every week?s a challenge in NPL. For me, it?s just about doing what I know. It?s quite a new group, so it?s just about getting the group together and understanding what roles they play within that team and how we can best utilise them.
?[Azzurri] will be a test. The key focus is just maintaining our style of football, understanding what their threats are and making sure we don?t concede. Our focus will be on a clean sheet and trying to pinch a goal from them.?
Also on Saturday, Lambton host Olympic (2pm) and Belmont Swansea are home to Weston (4.30pm). On Sunday, New Lambton play Cooks Hill at Alder Park (2pm) and Edgeworth travel to Maitland (4.30pm). Broadmeadow were playing Adamstown on Friday night.
In NPL Women, New Lambton host Olympic on Saturday (4pm) and Maitland meet Azzurri at Cooks Lisle Carr Oval on Sunday (4pm). Lake Macquarie were battling Adamstown on Friday night.
My mail is she knifed Garnett to the committee, I?ve had a few messages of Valo players texting other coaches, sounds like the clubs a shambles
Have to have a name change Diving Olympic FC. No 19 in reserves is a special at it.
After watching another weekend of first grade, feeling that the refereeing is really letting games down, even changing the course of games or the outcome entirely (BelSwans vs Magic last weekend)
Am I seeing something others aren?t?
Was anyone at any of the matches over the weekend?? Was away saw results how ever any interesting points/things to take away??
New Lambton Cookers had a send off. Obvious foul on edge of box slightly from behind with another defender coming across.
Ref gave red on DOGSO regardless of that defender still being able to make another tackle as the foul did stop the shot on goal. kind of ruined the contest but rules are rules.
From memory, this is the worst start of the year for Maitland. Surely, Hughesy is under pressure a bit.
Can?t see Hughesy going anywhere anytime soon. Whilst it?s obviously been a very disappointing start to the season for the first grade men, he was bought in to run the whole football department men, women, youth and JDL.
He is doing plenty of work behind the scenes to keep everyone happy and it won?t be too long before things start heading in the right direction for the first grade men.
That's good to see your club has big plans and is patient for the new coach to implement his style. All I said was he must be under a bit of pressure for poor results. Unfortunately, this game mostly is measured by results whether you are Adam Hughes or Ang Postecoglou.
Ventured to Azzurri v swans tonight, finished 2 all with swans scoring late, Azzurri should of had 5 before that, swans keeper did well but he?d be disappointed with Azzurri second, swans kept fighting despite being outplayed for most of match, they?ll do ok this year I think.
With belswans getting a good point last night , after 5-6 rounds now who do we think is underachieving overachieving and just about right so far , any thoughts? I think the comp is as close as ever
New Lambton are done for, and a season or two to rebuild in NL1 isn't the end of the world... unless Valentine's internal issues spiral and NL can claim a pro/rel playoff spot but that's a STRETCH
At the end of the day consistency wins out hence why Belswans should survive comfortably. They are arguably the most consistent team this season punching well above their weight.
My tip for the playoff is Valo. Maitland will kick into gear soon, it's a question of when, not if. Adamstown will end their purple patch soon, but have started strong enough for relegation not to be a threat this season.
To be fair though, what has the bloke achieved? Coached a bit of Jets academy then nearly went to China on a pro coaching contract, but Covid hit apparently. I could be wrong though.
Then a few years at Valo on good coin overseeing youth to 1st grade. Well the youth sort of did ok I think 🤷*♂️.
Just watching on YouTube now. I hope Maitland have a better plan than Valo.
Just watched the Edgeworth v Chooks hill game. Edgeworths ground is one of the better grounds in the comp except for the large mounds on the six yard line. And while I?m at it BelSwans need to fill in the hole in the goal mouth. Just feed back. That?s all.
