Jarryd Johnson is without a doubt a gifted footballer if he can produce to his ability he should be the stand out player of 2016, appears he didn't have the heart to play with my club in blue

100% agree,
now johnson has signed big competition for spots in the mid field next year for finlayson, cassa ,peter haynes ,scott pettit , matt hoole , jonny griff , alex kantarovski , Korsa (korean kid) , callan lewis and now Jarryd Johnson ...
10 quality players for 4 spots... :banghead:
sounds like they need a coupla more strikers too , maybe some more coaches .can you pre purchase extra points to fit inside the pps ?
Because the PPS is a waste of time, anyone that gets near their limit are kidding themselves, the first year was fine but the changes they made render it pointless,( no pun intended)
I would say you are spot on with that observation about Bennis. He was the "heart beat" of Magic for many years and they have failed to replace him.
Didn't see the match but heard from a few people that Magic 19's played 2 players from their 22's squad (Nadfalusi and Marky) and even one from their 1st Grade squad (Barber) in the 2nd Leg semi final last Sunday. Yes, apparently all 3 are under 19 and I'm assuming it must be okay but in regards to "sportsmanship" it's pretty low that they feel they need to stack their 19's with players from higher grades who haven't played there all season just so they can qualify for the GF.
The players who had to make way would be pretty pissed off too, being involved all year and then being left out in a crucial game at the end.
Is it really worth going to this trouble just to win a piece of silverware in 19's???
Coaches requested back-ups due to injuries... U17's have been filling in during the year sometimes up to 5 starting over U19's who were out/ unfit... Players in question where asked if they would like to participate not told to do so... and were happy to oblige... U17's will return for the GF. FYI Max Markey did not play, was too sore from being chopped down numerous times in the previous match.
Everyone does it... i remember a U19's Olympic team a few years back in a catch up game at Magic Park that was stacked with 3 first graders and 3 resies players, that were "made" to play... obvious form their body language they didn't want to be there... U19's parents were furious and walked out then they found out their kids weren't getting stripped and were notified prior to arrival to the field... Magic U19's won 5-1...
"Sportsmanship" would have dictated the Edgeworth player who deliberately hand-balled in the box on the weekend stop play and confess to the referee...
Never a hand ball, cop it sweet
I was told 3 x 22s and a first grader. Plus one of the 22's has played first grade. It doesn't matter whether the players who played down were asked or made do it. It's crap, and you can only feel for those boys who had to make way for the ring-in's, especially when they have worked hard all year only to be shafted when it matters most. Disgraceful!
What time does first grade kick off on Sunday lads?
3pm
3 Southy blokes to Weston
Lee Ashton
Mitch Wallace
Ashley Balcomb
Go weston!
Darr to Azzurri
Keeper to Olympic
Think Swancott is at Lambton? Young fella to be back up to Ireland
What's everyone's predictions for the weekend. Magic 2-1 in 19s, Edgeworth 3-1 in 22s, and Olympic 2-1 after extra time in firsts
I agree everyone is entitled to a few poor games. I also concede that Ireland is a better keeper than Fogarty. But from what I have seen I don't believe he is head and shoulders above the rest and enough to win Hamilton the GF. From what I have seen Swancott is still the best keeper and Evans and Hammel have a touch more class than the rest who will play on Sunday. If those two play to their potential and the rest of the team play at a similar level to what they have all year Edgey will win and it wouldn't matter who was between the sticks for Olympic. Having said that anything can happen on the day and if Fogarty or Edgey as a whole are slightly off it will be a different story.
On another note I was just driving past Mattara Dry Cleaners and saw Warren Mills walking in. Looks like he could be ramping up the fashion stakes a bit for the big occasion.
Olympics older heads I think will get them through, I'm concerned the occasion may get to some of edgeworths younger ones, I could be wrong though
my predictions , toilets will be spotless , bumper crowd , one send off , fight start from edgy bench , toe poke will win the game and northern and magic will walk away with a wheelbarrow full of money .
Not sure about the toilets
can anyone confirm this one, Greg Asquith to coach Olympic 22's ????????
I don't think he's got what it takes with a first grade squad at the moment.
Will probably do decent things with Olympic 22s if true. But that's the crux, it's easy to do well with good players. It's all about getting that little bit more.
Part of me thinks he tried to get southy playing a bit too much. They really needed to be pragmatic and doing what was necessary to get a point from games, and occassionally try and go for a win.
Piggo was especially good at getting his squad to do the basics and grind out results.
When your best 6 players are out for 8 weeks it makes it extremely difficult, those around our club know the reasons we struggled and that reason is the huge injury toll we had at our club through no one else's fault,
Please do not comment on what you think happened as it's not true, every one tried there hardest and best but it wasn't to be, full stop
Nobody is saying they were not unlucky throughout the season. There were some big injuries and really good players were unable to play, and things probably would have been a bit different had the injuries not occurred.
I'm entitled to my opinion. Which part in particular do you believe to be not true?
The part where I said he's not up to first grade? I think he needs more experience with a 22s team in NPL being around the senior squad more before making the step up. What was it? 3 years with southy 19s, 3/4 season with magic 23s and back to southy 19s then first grade? Im all for southy giving him a shot, he's a great guy.
The part where I said he would do wel with a good squad? His success with 19s at southy and Magic 22s was largely due to the calibre of player. For his philosophy to work, he needs technical fit players. But anyway. I think he would be capable of getting some good results with a quality experienced squad.
the rape and pillage has begun, good luck Mr Packer hope you can keep some of your players.....cant say much more might upset someone.......
but then again.......
I have removed some posts regarding Greg Asquith and I will warn people again about posting bollocks as fact on a publicly accessible forum.
