I know it isn't always right but wiki has kwabena appiah signed? He's trialling I know
One of a thousand trialling according to James Gardiner
I reckon there are a swag of NPL players across the country finishing work early at the abattoir today and jumping in the ute to Newcastle on their agents advice :-)
I'm interested to see the new Korean fullback and what he has to bring. Hopefully not two oggies in one game, hey Byun! Mullen is a good addition to the squad. I'm happy with his signing.
It's also good for Griff, Madaschi and Celeski to be back at training even if it's away from the main group. Let's be honest - they aren't going to get picked.
Whatever happens, we need to give these new boys a cheer and get behind them. It's not their fault the circumstances around their arrival and they'll be playing for a new deal, having signed on for 4 months.
Maybe not picked while Tinkler is in charge, but it's very, very likely they will play for us again if the FFA take over.
Could be back playing for us in a couple of games even.
As for these new boys, I'm not going to cheer them. What have a got to cheer them for?
I don't know them, they probably know nothing about Newcastle.
Forgive me for using MFKSspeak, but these are plastic players. I feel no more for them than I do about some fictional players on Football Manager.
IMO that is one of the worst things you've ever posted. I can't disagree with this view enough.
You're basically saying any player to ever get signed for your club again - if they're not from Newcastle, and you haven't heard about them before, you'll not support them.
That, sir, is the plastic fan.
I feel very strongly for my fictional football manager players. one did so poorly I offered him a mutual termination every week
We don't draw the line, because we're not terrible humans and plastic supporters. That's the point I'm making. I understand this completely ignores my last posts intent :rof:
You can't lampoon these guys without even seeing them, their intentions with the club, and how hard they're trying to make things better. If Mullen or someone is just walking around the field and shows no interest, sure, go bananas on him. But not advanced snobbery like you and militia are talking about.
If Stubbins/Tinkler goes, we'll probably still have these extra guys on our books. And they'll probably still try their hardest to do their individual duties on the field, to play well, and help the team win.
Travis Cooper is an injury replacement for Virgilli
Lee is a replacement LB for Gallaway
Mullen taking one of Flores/Steele Spot
So we still have another free spot for the Flores/Steele departure. As mentioned these are independent of the 5 released players.
We didn't replace goodwins spot did we?
What by giving the club a full squad to play their remaining games of the season? What about the remaining 13 players still happy to "cross the picket line". I am hoping for a quick resolution to all of this but its just as likely to drag on until the end of the season.
Trust you, pv4, to turn this all into another one of your local player debates.
Honestly, the thought about them not being from Newcastle did not cross my mind when I wrote that, but kudos for once again irrationally bringing that up.
I wouldn't describe it in the same labour politics, but yes, this is what I'm getting at.
Look at the comments Mullen made when he came to the club. They were absolutely awful imo, how would the players and coaches who have just lost their livelihoods feel about this random guy rocking up and saying "Everything is good"? It was disrespectful to his fellow players who have actually stood up for something and said "We can't stand for being shit anymore, something needs to change".
Look, the club included 3 of those 5 sacked players in its advertising campaigns at the start of the season. 3 more players who took part of the advertising campaign were also released (there are actually only 2 players out of 8 involved in advertising still remaining at the club which is ridiculous).
How on earth do you expect fans to endear themselves towards these ring ins if we have a culture like this at the club?
Well said pv4.
If people aren't gonna cheer the new players, u may aswell not cheer the remaining 13 or so as borat says. And if your not gonna cheer them u may aswell not turn up.
I have absolutely no issue with the new players coming in.
It was in response to you writing this:
2 of the 3 players we've signed are Australian but not locals. So you're saying that you're not going to support them because they probably know nothing about Newcastle - which means that only someone from Newcastle would fit the description of people you would support.
What else is Mullen going to say about his new employer? :rof:
Just sit down for a second and think if Tinkler and Stubbins go, but the new guys stay, and ANY coach (Okon, Zane, Rudan, anyone you want) comes in and the club all of a sudden seems peachy and you're happy, and the sacked players and staff are re-instated - how will the new guys still there feel knowing that you gave them SFA support when all they did was see an opportunity to help the club, and attemped and will continue to attempt to do so?
What I find more bizarre is that the club can get rid of a whole team of players and replace them with new ones, and some fans will still carrying on supporting these players like the old ones. Even in the context of modern football that is ****ed up.
In case there is confusion, I'm not saying I'm going to be booing them, I'm just saying that I feel nothing for them as I would Griff or Kew. I don't see what's so radical about that.
Have you now changed your tune from "I won't cheer them" to "they're no Griff and Kew"? Of course they're not a Griff or Kew - and I doubt they will receive the same level of cheering etc that Griff and Kew did, unless they reach their level of heroics/whatever. But saying you won't support them, even the slightest bit, is what you said and what we see as radical. You were arguing the picket line etc thing, when now you seem to have radically changed tune.
Another thought, that others are bringing up - what about the guys on the books already that are not involved in all of this? This is from Joel Grenell, player agent of basically all our locals:
Do they stop getting cheers too - as they're solely focused on playing regular football and knuckling down for their futures? How are they different to the guys coming in, apart from the fact that they were seemingly not apart of the attempted mutiny (that word sounds harsh, particularly because I agree with the 5 players and 3 staff, but I'll use it) but watched it all unfold and did nothing about it?Quote:
‘‘We’ve had conversations and I’ve said, ‘Look, keep your noses clean as there’s no winners in these kind of scenarios and you’re best off working hard and getting back in the team’,’’ Grenell said. ‘‘Most of them need to ensure they’re playing regular football to get a contract.
‘‘To my boys it’s a very clear message and they’re all in agreement that they need to knuckle down and work for their futures.’’
cbf explaining myself more when I consider your irrational hatred for anything and everything Newcastle pv4.
BK is no.1, Birraz none, McBreen is Judas, get that up ya etc.
All I'll say is that my idea of supporting my local football team is different from other people's, who it would appear would be happy to support a team of cardboard cutouts as equally as a team who actually cares for the town and has pride in playing for us. Go sports.
some of the slavish go jets mentality is borderline retarded
i'm with militiamun. these are not the jerks i know and love. they are mid-season ring-ins, and until daniel mullen kicks hutch in the nuts or punches phil moss in the dick i feel nothing for him.
Lets not be worried about whether they know anything about Newcastle etc.. Lets all jus be worried that they might come in and be absolutely horse shit.. Ill reserve my judgement for later in their 4 month contracts.. whether this is too long or not long enough..
They haven't been the Jerks I know and love since Super (EDIT: Disco) Stu and Ljubo left tbh.
Doesn't mean I stop fighting the good fight.
Interesting how people can throw around the term "plastic" when they're the ones who in a sense have admitted to giving up.
This isn't the ring-ins' fault - it is Stubbins and Tinkler. Stop pushing the blame on the wrong people, particularly the ones who more than likely will still be here when the mess is settled.
no-one in newy sokkah can throw the word plastic around when a great number of people drop clubs they play for at the drop of the hat nigh on every year to join ones with more money, better grounds, better players and the like
it's revolting
yes i realise the irony
So now that pv4's best mate has a job at the club, does that mean he'll be defending all their decisions on here?
Also tell him to change his twitter picture where he in the uniform of our main rival. Isn't that what you were going on about with the keepers all this time? And he might want to change his cover picture too, dunno if it's a great look for a club pr person to be promoting illegal pyrotechnic displays like that.
Anyway, back on topic and off the argument deflections..
Mark Jones is back as assistant coach and strength&conditioning coach. I genuinely couldn't care less if he's been involved in the CCM setup in recent years, and what yall will think of me for saying this - I legit love that Mark is back! I wish it was in some capacity with Zane too, I think those two would work really well together for some reason, but anyway. Jonesy will have our team fit and hungry in no time, I hope!
You bring up a good point there WLG.
Those blokes still at the club who choose to play for Stubbins and support the regime and do not stand up for the injustice inflicted upon their so called mates like Griff Madaschi Kew and Celevski (**** Carney) are no better than Stubbins and Tinkler and ain't Newy at all.
Griff Madaschi Kew Celevski and Bridges plus these unnamed 3 who won't play for Stubbins but the fans and our fans who stick solid are who I support.
The rest of the plastic ****s can get ****ed
Please note that what MFAW has said is not my view on it all. I was merely making a point about the Grenell boys to see what militia and blackmac's take was on that, and how they compare it to the new guys coming in.
For what it's worth I'm believing that Griff and the other 4 basically told Grenell and his boys to keep quiet and do their own thing, and that they'll be the fall guys for them, as they don't want to the young locals to get caught up in the nonsense. I hold no grudge on any of the existing boys whatsoever about this whole debacle (maybe I don't rate some of them as A-league quality still, but that's not the issue here).
