Mate you want to very careful spouting things you on here you NOTHING of, I live in town and it absolutely flogged down from 5am (up with the baby) till at least 9:30am. Only call that could have been made was to call it off. We were full strength at Cookers and filthy it was called off but no one can predict the weather. Imo, there needs to be an avenue that opposition teams can go down to verify that the ground is unplayable.
Whether they go and inspect or get an independent to inspect or offer an alternative ground.
If both teams are happy that it's washed out, leave it be. If unhappy, give them a pathway to follow to maintain integrity.
Not commenting on any specific incident. Just what I've seen/heard in NPL, NEWFM and ZP and zone leagues.
Settle down buddy, i was not spouting anything. It was simply a question of people missing from multiple games in multiple grades. Someone else had hinted that groovin the moo played a part in another decision (true or not, who knows?) and i was simply thinking of other games that were off throughout zone leagues.. and there weren't many to list!Quote:

This probably works in theory but i don't know that it would in practice. I am unsure how the Barnsley situation last year panned out, as in who made the decision that it was playable and at what time. Seems strange to do that in one case and not have some kind of appeal in other cases. Do teams go and inspect opposition fields when they are called out? and if they do, what kind of pull do they have if appealing? i means it a matter of opinion and a call made at 8.30 in the morning can be difficult to judge for a 3oclock 1st grade kick off... a lot can happen in that time.Quote:

It just comes down to whether people value a single game of football higher than the pitch they will need to play on for the remainder of the season. Being Round 3 just gone, I have no issues with clubs being conservative with their decision. I think preserving pitches at this time of the year is far more likely than any conspiracy theories about calling off games due to weakened squads.

suns game with Cardiff last year was called off by the ref
sat there for ages didn't say anything, watched everyone set up the ground and canteen, start the bbq, 3 grade warm up etc
10 mins before kick off said ground was unplayable and left...
