dammit. looks like my last beer for the night is going to be a commiseration beer. :(
dammit. looks like my last beer for the night is going to be a commiseration beer. :(
wow! less than 6min of injury time
Woah, Pepper got tats?
chilli :lulzturtle:
Bugger. Don't think we deserved all 3 points, but a draw would have been a fair result. On to the next...
Better second half. Well done boys
Also the Bernardo was pretty anonymous when he got on
Balls. Thought we looked much better in second half, almost deserved a point. Will want to see replay of their goal, dunno if Birra was fouled or it was one of ours.
Should be a good trip to Parramatta next week.
Still dunno how Zad didn't get the hook 60 mins in. One of his poorer games for a long while.
think GVE got the tactics wrong tonight. can't put my finger on exactly what i felt was wrong, but it just didn't seem right.
also, heskey put himself about, was unlucky, but was also slightly off his game tonight i think.
despite earlier comments by myself, virgilli probably didn't have his best night. lot of wayward crosses. goodwin also didn't have his best night.
passing was poor from the entire team.
just plain weird referreeing. don't think we came out of the game too far behind in terms of the ref calls, but a lot of them were just odd. every corner seemed like he wanted to get in on the keeper and sort some non-existent crap out.
in the end though i think it was a classic case of super pressure by us and then switch off in defence to concede.
still, we didn't lose 7-2.
Heskey unlucky not to have put us infront, missed that tap in.
Mods, can we just close this thread and move on to next week?
6-0 to us easy.
Result Meh
Who cares at least we didn't get thumped and had a dig for a change
Feel we would have won if a few points had been addressed.
**Failure to take the ball to the corner flag tonight cost us dearly. Well it has been working in the last few games when we have won so why didn't we try it tonight.
**Not having a decent marquee striker in the ranks. FFS that was the Heskey everyone ridicules tonight with his finishing in the 6 yard box. Where was the real Heskeytime??HSG's failure to land us a proper marquee cost us bad tonight.
Heskey Out - Griffo in
We all know Griff would have buried all them so I am right!!!
** Not addressing the Craig Deans influence - Deans Out
** Also noticed we seem to have lost the wonder of the short corner routine we were working so hard on in pre season - Bring it back
** Whoever spoke to Zadko after his tackle on Josh Rose needs firing. Fire the **** up Zads and hack some ****er
**Did I mention not addressing the Craig Deans Influence - I did well it needs mentioning twice Deans Out
Playing Goodwin in defence and Brown at LM didnt work imo
We lost that game in midfield, we needed Pepper on from start for solidity and brought Brown on as a sub.
Jobe was solid but was the only one having a go in mids, really missed having Ritter at LB so Goodwin could play further forward. Neville seemed timid, didnt go on his usual barnstorming runs down the wing, seemed not to want to piss off his former teammates, where it seemed Josh didnt give a **** and went all in.
Hard to take that result.. but as MFKS said at least we dug in and had a go over there for once. Outplayed them in the second half. Thought Heskey played well again despite missing a sitter. Also thought Josh Mitchell had his best game for us tonight. Perth have some dogs in their team.. Jameison the worst of them.
If we don't get too down on ourselves I'm sure we can bounce back and grab a win next week.
I thought we played well overall. Deserved a draw like others have said. Ultimately we were let down by some pretty poor lapses in defence, a couple of missed chances in attack (Heskey, Virgili), and the atmosphere at Perth (partisan crowd, ref giving a few calls their way etc.).
Mitchell MOM for me, played his best game by far for us, if it weren't for him we might have conceded a couple more.
Wheelhouse was probably our next best, I never get tired of seeing him sending those commanding balls out to the wing.
I'm still not sure where Brown fits into the GVE system, he's not a great passer but he always seems to be in positions of restricted space where he's played now.
And I agree with the comments about Goodwin/Ritter, the combination of Ritter at LB and Goodwin at LW seemed far more successful than tonight. Need Ritter back asap.
Still not impressed with Birighitti either. Don't want to start the debate again, but if BK were fit I would be calling for him to be brought in pronto. Birighitti just has zero aerial confidence and this was telling for the last goal.
Agree with you on all points bar the last one. Not sure if BK could have done better on the third goal, especially after being impeded with. Also don't think BK (in current form) could have pulled off the stunning save toward the end of the first half which kept us in the game.
birraz cost us da pointz
What? When has aerial balls been BK's strong point? Bighitti has pulled off three saves of the week in a row now and you're calling for him to be replaced? Two of the major differences between BK and Biraz is that a) Biraz attempts to make saves for shots more than 1m away from him, and b), Biraz doesn't scream and swear at his players, instead he congratulates them when they make a vital stop or tackle. Also, it's a bit hard to jump either through or over 5+ players, specially when that coasties Heffernan is running interference.
Finally what I reckoned we missed was Goodwin on the left of attack. We were basically one sided in the first half. Brown was almost anomyous apart from a few good tackles. He should get better as the season goes on.
Finally, Tiago
^ Maybe there are reasonable comments to be made in his defence, but it's just the vibe I've gotten from him so far. Either way can't really take it seriously when you rate Birighitti as our best player tonight ey.
Also what's this save of the week nonsense? If you're talking about Bozza's thing, pretty sure he's only won it once. And Necevski has won it twice, which tells you something about how useful that is.
anyone not get on that result. We had a go but not good enough, a 7-2 loss gets the same amount of pts. next
I'd rather Rubes play wide right and let pepper play in that midfield role ... and by the way i've stuck up for Mitchell but that dive was one of the most embarrassing things i've seen on a football field( excluding the Gypos of course )
Won it against scum and smurfs. Will probably get it again this week. BK would stand there like one of those training dummies you try not and hit then kick the ball back into the net after it rolls out next to him, scream at the defenders and look like an idiot with his stupid haircut.
??? BK played against the Smurfs, lol.

Rd 1 - Necevski
Rd 2 - BK
Rd 3 - Necevski
Rd 4 - Birighitti

Edit: Anyway like I said before it is not the reason why we lost, the whole defence needs looking at, especially the wings. I just find it amusing considering the discussion that was had in the pre-season and all the BK hate.
Jockey - out. Mate of mine hates him, reckons he was a totally dick coach in the youth systems.
Also how good was it seeing GVE getting fired up in the second half :yap: Seemed to fire up the players a bit too.
Might even have been Bozza or Peacock in the studio before hand... talking about how he has won 2 save of the week and they also made the comment about Necevski and "look how that just turned out for him, lolz".
Who is the jockey? Apart from some guy that has something to do with QLD youth, he made a comment a few weeks back about "another quality product from the QAS" or something.
Heskey had two great chances near the end. Should have scored.
This is where I got it from, should have done my research :P
Although to be fair, Birghitti has had a few times when he's come out and stopped half way or missed the ball completely.
And despite losing, I thought we didn't play too badly and had Heskey connected with a couple of crosses we would have won.
we haven't seen him on the field since March or something. he probably did it over the break.
I thought we played pretty well and could have won if not for some sloppy defending and some great chances that were spurned (the Heskey tap-in in particular). It's refreshing to see us go over to Perth, who are a strong team, and play so well. I think we are going to be a legitimate force this season.
