What a Load of rubbish. Nabbout gets in the starting side on merit. If Vargas and Pato want to start they can get fit and ****ing earn it

Merrick plays people in form and who are working hard at training. Nabbout ticks both those boxes atm no chance he getting dropped

Regardless of how well Nabbout has done this season there is no way in hell he playing ahead if Dimi Vargs Pato and Roy when those 4 are fit

Players can make nice earners just along the signing on kick backs they may get from clubs

Ie you stay at your club all your career like Kanta you get **** all

You change clubs 16 times in 12 years like some mercenaries do and you get plenty of pay outs to come payouts to **** off etc


Other thing to be said changing clubs allows the opportunities for networking

You may not get the pay off today out of it but goinbg to different club exposes players and agents to be viewed by more people etc

Which can lead to opportunities in the future


Take Nabbout.

****s off to Japan and straight away he is being viwed by everyone in the Jaspanese league set up
All these blokes might go in many different ways in the future but some bloke gets a gig coaching in say China and thinks wouldnt mind that Nabbout bloke and before too long Nabbout is in the Chinese League all because he moved in the first place

Is it possible someone mistook Jason Geria for Nabbout?

No. The manager is there to get the best deal for himself. The same self interest you speak of for the player is also embodied in the actions of the manager. The countervailing power between them generally determines the outcome. There are exceptions of course but generally everyone is in it for their own benefit.
The Managers you would expect seek short term gain rather than long term - which is pretty much backed by so many Aussie players going overseas to essentially sit on the pine.
There are more players than managers and as such the managers know if a player is not profitable to them they can move on to the next one who is or at least shows more potential. Players on the other hand have a much more limited choice so finding a new manager is not as easy.

In a salary capped comp, how can a club use the transfer fees? I.e. can the jets use these 500k for salaries?

Is it realistic to think Dimi as an Aussie marquee funded with the 500k? This could free up $$$ to retain Pato under the cap.

I'm surprised at the limited off-season movement announcements this season. Last year, we'd already signed and lost Dimi, were close to announcing Georgievski adn Shabow.

The club has done a great job getting contracts sorted for the bulk of the players, but with Nabbout now gone we need to look at recruitment next year.

Who is available that could do a job out wide? I don't know who is off-contract. A local player I'd throw out there is Nick Fitzgerald.

If we re-sign Pato, Mcgree and Ronnie I don't think we need to chase anyone else in the front 3rd. Those 3 with Roy, Dimi, Chapness, Thurgate and Hoffman if needed that is more then enough options.

Maybe - I still think we're a striker optoin light. Fitzgerald won't solve that either.

I’d be shocked if Petratos lasts another 12 months with us.

McGree is a priority, but he should be aiming higher than us.

Maybe luck out on another loan.

if we re-sign Pato & Vargas, our whole starting XI is pretty well done. Use the extra spots left by guys like Clut & Alessi to try and sign some other good youth players like champness.
Boogs is the interesting one, I can see a case for getting him back but for less money but would rather let him go and either replace him with someone around his price or allow Jackson to have his chance and use that extra cap space to keep someone like dimi around.
