From my understanding and to just make it clearer all A League sides must have a minimum squad of 20 and max 23 with 3 under 21 players included, they can then opt to sign 3 NYL players on minimum wages which is approx $49k bringing the max squad side to 26. Currently the NYL players are Lundy, Solari and recently Pavecevic. Cowburn and Crowely are not included in the figures at this stage and are not on full time NYL senior contracts. The other u21 players with out checking ages I think would be Cooper, Welsh, Barresi, and possibly the other Cooper.

Maybe there is a chance that Tinkler has gotten him to sign a revised contract that sees Phil paid more but with next year not locked in (would not surprise me in the least), or maybe there are KPIs in Stubbins' contract that said if he didn't achieve a certain league position that it only lasted one year. So according to murphy lee ki-je and alivodic priorities to re-sign which I agree with but I just wonder about montano. I known he has missed a few chances here and there but has generally been devoid of quality service. He has looked great at holding the ball up all season but early on held onto it too much or went his own but I think he has remedied that and laid it off more.
I'd like to see him re-signed but with extra competition up front, whether that be another visa or an Australian striker.
Second season, with his English improved and a decent midfield behind him I think he needs to be re-signed.
My thoughts for the day.
I'd love Montano re-signed, but can't see it happening. I assume his home club would want him back, and I daresay he'd be feeling homesick particularly because we've gotten rid of our fellow Spanish speakers. He doesn't have a whole lot keeping him here, it seems to me. Most visa players in the HAL are on somewhere between 200-300k, and I have had hamma-confirmation that Edson's wage falls in that bracket, so maybe that's more than he can get back home? Either way I feel like all our visa players are too good for us tbh :rof:
With hoole leaving, I think we could end up with a visa flavour front four unless stubbins can somehow lure some decent Aussies to the club.

I'm still of the belief that Montano would work better if he had someone like Adam Taggart to play off too and have him playing similar to Heskey during that period. His finishing just isn't good enough to be a lone striker

Yes he's almost certainly lacking in service, but his finishing has been woeful and his decision making is pretty shit too. Has missed lots of sitters that a better player would have nailed.

IMO hes pretty good on the ball: holding it up and dribbling. He's alright in the air got a few good goals but wasted plenty of chances. He's fairly quick. But his shots are terrible in particular his technique at taking them. E.g. on Saturday in the first half he had a chance in the box but ballooned it into the stands.
Like some have said he would be quite good playing with a striker who could finish.
With the coin hes on we could get slightly better players so I would let him go when his loan expires

Saturday just convinced me it is a ****ing crying shame the club is losing Hoole. Bloke just needs some good coaching and some end product and the kid will be flying. It ain't far away and we are gonna miss him big time.
