Clut, Jackson and Cowburn in the 26 player squad, narrows down to 23
Kokko off to have a medical somewhere overseas tomorrow.

NBN also said the club was still interested in Burns. Happily swap Kokko for Burns and free up a visa. Kokko was supposed to be our highest paid player last year
Herald's story as well:

Not so sure about Hoff's hype about our pre-season, we actually had a decent one last season, and we were obviously more fit than we'd been before as we could see a game out for a change, I think we'll need to have a proper match up (pre-season against WSW or Smurfs?) to gauge how much more intense and focused we are, till then I won't let my excitement peak too early...
But you don't know that for sure ........... I mean you say you know that, and sure it's been published in the press a bunch of times, but you clearly don't know for an absolute certainty.
One could say, not I, that someone who speculates on the income of players "doesn't know anything"....or so I have heard.
Recruitment Speculation
So Merrick stated earlier in the week 1 that the Visa #10 was going to be outside the cap. Kokko has been reported in the press as on 300k, so that being the case you would suspect we have 350-400k to spend on a marquee (highest paid player). So excluding what we have put aside for the Chinese player, I suspect we have 650-700k to spend on 1-2 players and 2 vacant Visa spots.
If you believe the rumours on Twitter transfer feeds we have made preliminary offers for Vidosic, Burns and Carrusca.
Carrusca is in Adelaide negotiating with their new manager, however its far from certain that he will stay. Carrusca was AUFC marquee last year and Kurz may want to use that money on his Visa signings. In Carrusca's favour is that he now is an Aust citizen and doesn't take a visa spot. Not useful for the Jets but attractive to AUFC. MV are meant to be chasing as well. Marquee money at the Jets and AU is likely to be in cap for MV.
Vidosic has been approached by us, WSW and MV with preliminary offers.
Burns is reportedly negotiating with us, SFC and AU.
Milligan may now be an option as he can't get a work permit and is looking at a deal with MV, Portugal and Denmark
Then there is our South American crapshoot/youtubalooza
My preference, and is risky yes, but to go all in for Burns. He has a proven goal scoring record in the HAL and would add a touch of class to there side. Yes he hasn't played nearly enough for Tokyo but considering we have no established scouting network imo its a greater risk signing from Youtube again. if we could sign him for 500-600k then that would be worthwhile (was reportedly pulling 900k at Tokyo)
I wouldn't necessarily replace Kokko with a striker but would look for a No 6/8. Depending on how much is left over, I would strongly consider Mitch Oxborrow. He was classy in the few opportunities he had in Perth and has improved a lot since his last stint at the Jets. He is too good to be in the NPL and will be eventually signed elsewhere. Would give us a cheap but credible option off the bench at a minimum.
Why go for Ox when we have: koutrumbis, cowburn, kanta, uga, brown in that position? If we would add another in that midfield role it should be for a starter better than all of them.
I'd want a 10, burns and wid attacking Chinese. If we had another position to a better 6/8.
