Fans rep committee (discussion allowed) thread.

Reading the minutes after the match, I understand what was happening with the pre-game stuff now. Thought today was a big improvement and seems to match what was discussed in the meeting. Good signs.

One query: why is there no action recorded against"increasing communication..." when the discussion seems to indicate several actions?

Second query: the agenda seems very squadron driven (not having a go). Did the non-squadron/forum members contribute to a great extent? Aware this will probably change over time as they may not have access to a pool of thoughts such as on here.

Ignore the second query, should have read gaz's last post more clearly :blush:

Mr Fish all of them are in my opinion great ideas. Some have obviously been raised on the foz but others are new. Who do I need to congratulate?? Not all of them are necessarily from my perspective relevant for me but good for the kids and building gen next.


Disagree with the one about getting out on the pitch. Can see why some would want it but we just got the thing fixed FFS

Disagree with the NYL W League idea also. The games are free to members anyway now. Those who go put money into local clubs coffers at the canteen and also watching back to back games although fun in Summertime sitting around at 2pm in the heat watching the W League/ NYL and then hanging around to 7pm watching the HAL in the heat. Thanks but no thanks

Might be a better idea to get the club to put them on at better times weatherwise and actually promote them better to the Members than they currently do

Just an idea: when RBB comes into town can we put them up in the upper eastern grand stand. Anyone wearing WSW merchandising on the day directed upstairs in eastern upper grand stand. And keep them there for at least 20 minutes after full time.

Success is not a value, it is an outcome. Youth Development is not a value, it is a process. Community is not a value either, it is human interaction. Their stated values sound muddled.

It seems that missing from their set of vales, compared to the ones I proposed ie. Humility, Effort, Ambition, Respect and Teamwork are Humility, and Teamwork (assuming they mean Ambition when they say Success). Kind of speaks volumes that they would leave those two out, as they are the two main problems I see with the club, along with a clear lack of Ambition.

Ok, as stated elsewhere my views on 'mission statements' and 'core values' are well known so I won't go over them again.

HOWEVER:
It was great to see the 'action required' from our fearless marketing gurus is that the values are posted on the Jets website.


Or did I miss the part about anyone in the entire ****ing organisation actually implementing and honouring them.

The dickhead with the microphone pre game is getting worse. Last nights effort was despite being the same shit much longer and much louder from him.
Complete and utter crap from the club to expect 10k of hardy souls to listen to this shit. It is ruining my match day experience and I am sure many others. I just cringe and try and block it out until he shuts up and ****s off

Can you get the club to get something done on this front before I start asking people for a whip around to hire a sniper.

It was raised last meeting. More than happy to raise it again.

Can you email to them too, the more they see the issue as pissing off the fans the more likely it is to change.

At least they are playing NTUA after the coin toss, handshaking etc. and post game with the 3 points was great too

The stadium on the squadron side singing NTUA after the final whistle was pretty epic.

The countdown to kickoff is a Friday night a-league thing, not a club thing.

Apparently the FFA and fox seem to think a countdown to the first game of the weekend is a good idea.

In all seriousness the shit in the past that got this issue raised was nothing compared to last nights performance. It was the longest/most intense effort yet at what they are doing with this activity.

Being a cynical bastard I may not be far off the mark in saying it was done on purpose along the lines of we have had some complaints **** it we will go for twice as long and be twice as loud and twice as annoying as punishment for moaning.

Either that has occurred or the message raised at the last meeting has not been addressed from the clubs perspective and the issue has got worse by someone not being told to back off on it at the minimum

Might have had more to do with the 10 year anniversary deal. Guess we'll know after the next home match just before NYE

Came across on the TV as well when I was watching the replay.

There was a plan to quiet it down at the previous home game, but when security evicted a bunch of the supporters in Bay 60 for having GA tickets there didn't seem to be much point unfortunately.
And I hadn't raised it further prior to this game as they had their own 10yr anniversary stuff already planned, and tbh I was flat out with work anyway.

There was about 90 minutes of it last night, but none before kick off. I had to shout to talk to the person next to me. Was ridiculously loud, louder than its been for a long time.

The club are pretty well set on us not discussing onfield issues. However it's safe to say if they don't sort it out there won't be any members to have a committee for.

Only problem is the blokes that are left there just like those that have left show a complete lack of an idea on how to achieve this.

Sounds more like a chance for the supporters to offer up ideas for free cause the blokes getting paid 5 or 6 figure salaries are unable to come up with anything useful themselves despite it being what they are being paid for

I see it as an concept still in its infancy.

It certainly runs the risk of being nothing more than cheap PR stunt and a bit of easy market research.
It's what we make it as far as I'm concerned.

That's why I'm asking for people to submit stuff to the club AND to committee members so that if genuine issues aren't being brought forward on the agenda the committee members can start pushing for more transparency.

Ultimately, as I've stated before the communication pathway and control of the agenda needs to be from the fans on the committee, not the club, but this will take time.

We've been asking for fan representation on club decisions for 10 years to write this idea off after 1 meeting would be foolish in the extreme.


Protest, go for it, if I can help, I will. Do it as publicly as you want. Organise a rally, I'll support it, I'm sick of this steaming pile of shit too. But this committee now provides us with a formal communication line with the club, one which has the potential to hold the club to account for a whole range of things. Let's not shoot it down when it hasn't had time to get going.


Some of the stuff might be menial, and no doubt some of the ideas put forward by the committee we here simple ideas that I was amazed had not already been acted on, but we can sit around on keyboards and complain that those being paid to run our club aren't doing it as well as we'd hope, or we can participate in open dialogue and present constructive ideas that might just get put in place and start to have a positive impact.

I just realised the limitations of the committee so my real concerns (club, team & management) arent really valid here.

As for the subcommittee my impressions dont constitute a write off. Not sure where you got that.

Im questioning what the club are really after out of this. Im hoping theyll do the business.

I find discussing future membership is a bit of a non event when the club is in such a pitiful state. It will not improve quickly. However the other issues raised previously here would be a good improvement if carried out. especially the intro of school tournys and player visits, merch, greater interaction between players & supporters etc.

As for communication. I question whether real communication will be achieved or one way lip service as is my previous experience. eg the PA guy didnt improve as requested but got worse, & security hasnt improved in the active.

I also noticed in an earlier post from the first meeting that many items were undecided. Why?

I wouldnt class these issue as complaints but legitimate issues that may be encountered and needed to overcome.

The scope of the committes discussion will hopefully broaden, no doubt. The limitations set for last meeting were so that discussion was focussed on issues that could be changed in the short/medium term.... All while the possibility of new owners existed

agreed. Though "memberships" as an agenda item were suggested by the club at the end of last meeting.... The landscape has changed somewhat, and again, I encourage fans to submit issues to the club, and committee members so we can start to take some control of the agenda

also agreed, and this sort of stuff we need to hold them to account on. Publicly available minutes that can be questioned and clarified and reviewed reduces the "lip service"..... They also told us in the meeting that that they weren't looking for ideas to increase single match day ticket sales that involved discounting tickets as history had shown it doesn't have much impact...... Then they ran a 2for1 and that $1, $2, $3, tickets for 10 days thing leading up to the Adelaide game

committee isn't set to make decisions, each item is discussed and committee recommendations and feedback taken back to internal departments (probably the same three people) and the club make the decisions.

agreed, and I believe this process, perhaps slow, is one way we can hold the suits to account for their decisions or at the very least be able to call them out on the bullshit PR and lip service they might want to dish out.

The next agenda items will be surrounding Membership Packages and Member entitlements / inclusions as well as merchandise items.

The deadline for agenda items to be submitted will be Thursday 19th February and the agenda will be distributed on Monday 23rd February.

So if you have any feedback on the specific membership topic above - be it prices, inclusions, thickness of the card, style of lanyard let us know in this thread before the above date.

Similarly if you have any other topics you wish to be discussed please let us know and we will raise them but no promise they will be discussed this meeting.

I'll go over the old points people have raised before with me (they know who they are), I'll raise the mid-season review results and we can log the engagement points made in the thread Gaz started last week.

The club have said the members committee structure has been included in part of negotiations with potential owners to remain and continue functioning. If any new owner came in knowing what the issues were and how they could be solved, that is time they don't have to spend sorting it out. It gives them easy wins and runs on the board too.

If you'd like to make suggestions directly to the club for discussions you can, otherwise put them directly towards us. However if they're out of scope of the committee then they won't likely be discussed.

this makes it really hard for you committee members. Going in to maintain strong ongoing relations and having to talk about issues that arent really needed right now due to our other problems. anyway if you get a chance for general business bring up those prev ideas in here. there pretty good.
