Can't shoot can't score to save his life? Isn't he equal leading scorer? Can't take free kicks? Well he's the free kick taker so that says more about the rest of the players than it does about him. Can't cross? Who cares, assists don't matter anyway @plague. Plus he put one on noddys feet on the goal line one game I recall which he then put over.

Also I'm 100% sure hes a better player than Moore and he'd be more effective than Moore in the A league.

Hoole can score. He's proved it before. Maybe his confidence is down? While that's not an acceptable excuse and he needs to be better maybe he could benefit from support by supporters... Or would that make us pretender fans? We should just bag him out and scapegoat him for our problems right?

He's missing a lot but he's the only bloke who gets in scoring positions! Take him off and start clut and nabbout either side of kokko every week. And when we still aren't scoring and winning which of them do you suggest we blame alongside 'mr mcKinna' and jones?

(I am not Andrew Hoole, just don't think it's right to single him out for our problems)

Anyway go the jets! Excited for tonight's game. One pretender here will be cheering the fellas on. Until he starts bagging them out for being hopeless

When? In preseason?

He's played 81 A-League games and scored 3 goals - 1 from the spot, 1 from a Redmayne howler and one that snuck past Reddy last week. And he's crucified more scoring chances than any other player I've ever seen. It's useless getting into scoring positions if he's just going to pass the ball along the ground to the keeper like he did last week.

So what you're saying is that his confidence has just been down his entire professional career and he'll soon get over it?

It must be a balance issue because from a dead ball Hoole has plenty of power in his shot. Once he's running with the ball though his shot wouldn't knock the fat off a chop. The good players can generate power with the ball very close to them - Berisha is a good example. Hoole doesn't seem to have this trait and it's doubtful he ever will.

I think he played tonight like he spent the entire week reading criticism from the foz.


Some of the stuff he done tonight was just so frustrating

How the **** he played the full 90 is a mystery

Clut Poljak Nabbout done more and all got hooked

His running off the ball at times was abysmal.

Twice in the first half we got into a great position and he ****ed it by not running selflessly and for the team. He jogged into space someone was occupying and the other time he just didn't run anywhere to draw defenders attention

As for his tracking back

How the hell he gets a start is a mystery. This untapped potential rubbish that some journos like to peddle week after week in there column in support is crap. Bloke is a good athlete but just not complete enough for this level.

He has had plenty of opportunities in the last few years at two clubs and several different coaches to become complete to no avail.

At the end of his current deal i reckon the Hoole project should cease.

Hoole needs to be disciplined by the coach - make him a sub for a few weeks so he gets the message that he needs to improve to be a first team player - problem is Jones doesn't have the balls to do it - this is why I can't believe in the coach...

Besides the fact that Hoole's numbers are good and the coaching staff see him as a starter. How on earth do people think that dropping him for a few weeks will improve his ability to score goals. T

Nicky Carle has said that he played his best football as a Newcastle Jet. He played 45 games and scored seven goals. But I don't recall yourself or anyone else calling for him to be dropped.
Yet this season, Hoole has two from 11 games which if you do the maths is a better strike rate than Carle had when he was playing his best football.

Sure the two misses tonight by Hoole were epic failures but he's doing a hell of a lot right as well which you blokes don't give him credit for.
He's definitely doing better than in past seasons. He's not going anywhere so like him or not he's a part of the starting line up.

I think the greatest problem here is that most of his problems are not the hardest to fix.
It less his goal scoring record that bothers me

It his effort and attitude and application to his role within the team that bothers me

That he can fix

I think you find the people want him to do well. But are getting frustrated with him because he isn't improving and also looks like he think he all that

His need to give away stupid fouls he can fix

Fix things like this he gets people off his back

All good points Member , but Jones said he was very happy with Hoole in defence, his hard work / covering more ground than anyone else.. and so on.
If he were to get shuffled to the bench who would replace him ? The side is winning, why change it ?

I'll also admit that when he went one on one last night to win the game my heart sunk as I had no confidence he would score. And sure enough he showed the GK where the shot was going like he always does.
When Morten went one on one I started celebrating before he even took the shot - because more often than not he will beat the GK in that situation.
If Hoole had Morten's composure he'd be in Europe though not playing for the Jets.

Let's be clear though Morten is the only finisher we have in this squad.
Brown clut etc aren't on his level either.

No arguments here. Morten is one of the best in the A-league in that type of situation. Adelaide fans would have wanted anyone else but Morten to be one on one with Galekovic
